Real Talk About Why So Many Blogs Fail

There are so many new blogs being born every day simply because blogging is one of the easiest and most popular formats for creating content that we can use to spread our message online.

Blogging is also a popular strategy when it comes to making money online. Many of the top bloggers make a substantial income from their blogs in order to support themselves and their families.

Others start blogs because their friends are blogging and they want to be like their friends. Some find enjoyment in blogging and set-up blogs because they enjoy writing and blogging about things that they love.

why blogs failIn a recent post on a blog, I have read that 97% of blogs fail, (sorry for my bad memory I totally forgot where I read it so I am not able to link to this article on the blog), and I have strong reasons to believe this statement.

This is because while browsing a few blogs that I used to visit are now gone or, the owner decided to stop posting for one reason or another.

So this means only 3% of blogs that were created will have real success. So you can just imagine how many free blogs exist on the internet today.

This lead me to ask the question, “Why are so many blogs coming to an end?”

4 Valid Reasons Why Most Blogs Fail

1. Lack Of Passion & Knowledge

A lot of people start blogs based on a topics that they have little or no knowledge about. They simply start a blog because the topic is one that has a high level of popularity.

Have you spotted the reasons why they fail at blogging?

Yes you do! Blogs shouldn't be created on a topic because of it's popularity. And no I am not saying that you should not start a blog on a topic that is popular because you can become successful with a blog that has a high popularity niche.

What I am trying to say is that it is always best to start a blog on a topic that you are familiar with its topic and also make sure that is something that you love.

True blogging should be about the love for a certain topic which you want to share your knowledge with others.

2. No Time To Blog Right Now

One of the little known reasons why most bloggers fail is because they don't dedicate time to their blog.

In order for one to become a successful blogger then this person has to devote some time to his/her blog. If not then your blog will end up in the list 97% that fails.

Create a timetable or schedule and try your best as possible to stick with it.

A person who doesn't find time for their blog will often come up with the conclusion that blogging is hard. Or blogging is for a person who has tons of free time on their hand.

If you take just a few minutes each day to do article writing, networking and blog commenting; you will be surprised how much this can impact on your blogging success.

3. I Want To Make Money Now

One of the major reasons why blogs are being created today is because you can make money blogging.

In fact, blogging is said to be one of the easiest money making process online.

But should this be our aim as true bloggers? Should we make it our first priority to make money from our blogs?

If this is the case then you might end up failing with your blog.

I agree that we all need to make money to survive in this world today because the economic crisis has made a bad impact on everyone.

So creating a blog can help to pay the bills and take care of other stuff. But your aim to make money all the time from your blog can cause you to fail.

4. Many Blogs Lack Creativity

If you own a blog, what you may notice is that people can be attracted to your blog post design or your articles.

This is because your blog has a unique creative design which attracted them to your blog in the first place.

It may be your creative writing which pulled them in to subscribe to your blog. If a blog lacks creativity in both design and content, will this not cause the blog to lose out on it's potential success?

Yes it would.

You can make your blog creatively unique by purchasing a WordPress theme for your blog, one that matches your blogs topic.

Here's How You Can Create Successful Blogs

As I said earlier in this article, your blog can be a part of the 3% that are successful.

Take action tips:

1. Blog on a Regular Basis

Blogging involves writing articles for your blog so so that you can share what you have written for others to read.

If each time you publish a blog post and you realize that people come to your blog, they read and leave comments, this means that your blog is a source of vital information to them.

Writing articles for your blog on a regular basis is the ideal thing to do to achieve blogging success. Blog on a regular basis so that when people do a blog search, you will always have a stream of traffic coming to your site.

2. Network As Much As Possible

Networking plays a big roll in blogging success. You have to make sure that you communicate with people who are bloggers in your niche.  This will help them to see that you want to become blogging buddies.

Share their contents and they in turn will do the same for your content.

When you network with other bloggers you can get great blogging ideas for your next blog post.

You may have a minor error on your blog that you need help with, if you make friends through networking then you may be able to get some assistance through this as well.

Networking and leveraging social media will help you build a impressive brand for you and your blog.

3. Traffic Is Needed For Success

Tons of traffic is what will help a blog to become successful.

If you want to become a successful blogger then you have to make it your aim to get traffic to your blog. Remember without the traffic then you will never be a successful blogger who makes money blogging.

What you need to do is participate in guest posting, forum submission, blog commenting, social networking and also write excellent articles for your blogs on a regular basis.

The more traffic that you have then the more success you will have.

Should More Blogs Be Created?

Should more blogs be created since so many of them are failing?

Well yes!

Blogs will and should be created because they can become successful. I didn't know that my blog would be this successful. Ileane didn't know that her blog would have this much success.

What we do know is that if we put in the added work and dedicate much of our time to our blogs then they will become successful!

So don't be afraid to become a blogger if you aren't a blogger as yet. Start your blog today!

In Conclusion

Anybody can make their blog successful.

It just takes a little time and patience, dedication and determination. With that then you can make your blog successful.

If you don't mind sharing with us, what tips and tricks would you recommend for making more successful blogs?

  1. Agreed with you friend. The biggest mistake I made in my early days was to do everything for money and nothing for reader. Thankfully that has changed now and I’m loving blogging more than ever.

    1. Hello Saqib Razzaq,

I know what you mean pal. Lots of people create a blog to make money but the real purpose of blogging is to provide information to people online on the niche that your blog falls in.

Once you do that then you can have tons of people coming to your blog to read what you have written for them.

We all know that where you have traffic then money making opportunities will be created.

So work on building up traffic… The money will follow.

Thanks for the comment, Saqib Razzaq.

      1. Kharim, I would go so far as to say it’s not only about information but about some form of value for the reader. The best blogs I follow don’t do reviews etc necessarily but just have something useful to say about a topic that is of interest. Some blogs have an interesting take, a unique perspective on current affairs for example or make cartoons about it… the challenge is monetizing the content afterwards. What I have found is quite effective is creating products based on the content you’re providing (e.g. low cost e-book on tips about publishing etc if you blog is about writing books) – that’s worked well for me at least 🙂

    2. Saqib,
You said well, I understand what you did in the past. Glad you are working hard now a days. I often read your posts silently 😉 Money can be a goal but not primary as readers.
      Good luck.

  2. I totally agree with these points – some people think it is really easy to shine in the blogosphere and IT IS NOT! I am not even talking about making money – this is REALLY HARD. recently I spent hundreds of hours online and i think 75% of blogs is just using same and same content over and over again!
    best regards!

    1. Hey Siegfried,

Blogging really takes a lot of time, effort an determination to work. Yes I agree with you that most blogs share almost the same content.

So this is the reason why we should aim to be different and stand out from the crowd.

      Thanks for the comment.

    2. Yup, it’s hard to come up with unique things to write about. Some niches – like SEO and blogging – are so saturated that anything you say is bound to have been written somewhere before. Just gotta hope that you can optimize your site to rank better than the competition.

      1. Hey Brian,

I totally agree with you pal. Almost every topic that you think about has already been written. So this is where you have to be competitive.

Writing the best of your abilities is what you have to do to stay alive.

        Thanks for the comment.

  3. You tough on some good points here when it comes to why blogs fail. I have been a “victim” of those myself, especially the first reason: “lack of passion & knowledge”. I started blogs because I wanted to make money, not because it was a topic I really cared about.

A few weeks back though, I changed my way of thinking and I’m focusing now on the things I enjoy and blog about those. Definitely easier to come up with great content every time and keep to a schedule (which is one of those othe points that is a big issue).

    1. Hello Leslie,

I can understand that. My very first blog is doing great and has had lots of success.

This is because I planned on making the blog into something success. I had previously owned websites and mobile sites which failed.

After transforming to a blogger, I decided this is the thing that I was looking for all along. So blogging became my passion and I love it very much.

Thanks very much for the comment.

  4. Blogging simply not about writing about something or someone. There is more into it like being passionate and true to what you are writing. A more personal approach in blogging is one of the most effective way to succeed.

    1. Hello Dylann,

Blogging should be about sharing thoughts and ideas which will help other people to make their life easier. Blogging should be fun and educational at the same time.

That way your blog can be a source of information for others which isn’t boring.

      Thanks for the comment.

  5. Very good article, Kharim. I have been doing this since 2007 and I still receive hundreds of emails a year from people thinking it is easy to make money by simply putting a couple of articles on a blog and slapping up a couple of Adsense banners. I always say that in order to make money from blogging you must be prepared to be in it for the long haul and put in a lot of effort.

    1. Hey Dean,

You are so right about that pal. Lots of people contact me as well think that making money from a blog is simply writing a few articles (or stealing them as they sometimes do) and place banners on the blog expecting to make hundreds of bucks over night.

      That doesn’t work.

You have to put in tons of work before you can make money over night.

      Thanks for the comment pal.

  6. The desire to make more money in a short period of time forces many bloggers to give in their quest to won their successful blog

  7. I think plenty of new bloggers approach it with the mindset to make money online very easy and therefore have the wrong approach as well as misguided expectations. In general you get what you put into it and let’s face it there are not that many people who can actually create good quality and original content on a constant base.

There are so many new blogs every day and it is hard to weed the good from the bad, but definitely worth it.

    1. Hey John,

I totally agree with you. When they have the mindset that money is easily made through blogging, and when they fail to make a single dime then they give up.

Blogging can help you to make money but lots of work has to be done first.

      Thanks for the comment.

  8. Totally second these points. People jump into blogging for quick bucks. BIG MISTAKE. Like everything in life it will take its time and then will reap the results. And passion acts as a great catalyst in this regard. Hope after reading this post people will get a better grip on their blogging strategy.

    Thanks for this wonderful list!!!

    1. Hi Rashmi,

It can be a big mistake indeed. Blogging should be a fun process when it comes to writing article and reaping the benefits.

Yep, I hope my post will inspire some people into changing their mindset.

      Thanks for the comment.

      1. Yeah, Blogging should be done with passion and for fun, money should be secondary. If you are not enjoying it, no point of doing it I guess.

        1. You are so right about that. It’s best to enjoy it first and then make the money after. Then that will be much more fun.

          Thanks again for the comment.

  9. Hi Kharim, I’d agree with you and i think new bloggers fails because they want an instant reward, they dont have patience, which is the key to have a success, so when they see that they dont get instant outcome, they start to lose patience and strength, that way they can never survive.

    1. Hey Sarah,

      Love your comment.

Patience is one of the many keys to success when it comes to blogging. One should not rush things when blogging but gradually build up the blog each and every day.

      Thanks for the comment.

  10. You have exactly shared bout the true facts behind blogging. Blogging must me done by passion, In my view it is the effective job to express our knowledge to world. Other than thinking off to making money you have to covey the information in the right way. Thank you sharing such an wonderful post..

  11. You are absolutely right blogging just for the sake of blogging never work; similarly if you blog in greed for money you will definitely fail; it is so easy to start a blog, little difficult to run a blog, more difficult to continue a blog but it is damn difficult to earn from a blog. Thanks for cool info

  12. Yupe! A lot of people jumped onto the blogging bandwagon because they wanna make money immediately. Without passion and perseverance…and of course sacrifice…they are destined to fail. Like the saying goes~no pain no gain.

    1. Hey Tekkaus,

Great points made in your comment.

Failure is sure to come if that person doesn’t have any passion and patience.

      Thanks for the comment.

  13. Hmmm.. blogging failure? the least I say on this topic, the better it would be. That’s all I have to say. Because talking about this, I’m not going to end now.

  14. Thanks Kharim for treating this topic professionally. Blogging is one of the most talked about subjects on the internet right now because of it’s many advantages. I discovered that one of the reasons a lot of people actually fail in blogging is because they are in haste to make money; so they enter into any niche where they feel the money is, whether they are knowledgeable in it or not.
Besides, lack of focus has contributed to a higher percentage of bloggers failing online in their blogging career Some are carrying too many blogs along at the same time and end up not able to focus on one and take it to an enviable height.

  15. GREAT article! I completely agree with you that these are the main reasons why many blogs fail. Especially those who want to make money now. Hopefully this is aide some bloggers that are considering shutting down their sites. Once again, a very helpful and informative article.

  16. Hello Kharim,
The most reasons why blogger do quit their blog is because of, they are not getting what they expected from the blog like; money and sociality and for real, we need to educate and enlighten bloggers on this parts. Thanks for the post and do have a lovely easter

    1. Hey Babanature,

What a blogger needs to do is engage and share what they know with their blog readers. Once you do this then it will make blogging more fun and this call lead to success.

      Thanks for the comment.

  17. Kharim, thanks for sharing!Yes, absolutely true and I am agree %100 to the tips. Well, in order to become successful blogger we have to be dynamic and creative, working hard, and patient for successful.

    1. Hey Kimsea,

I like the points that you mentioned in your comments. But one point that stood out was to be creative. That is what will help to boost your chances of being successful in blogging.

Lots of new bloggers tend to follow other top bloggers. One need to be creative and stand out from the crowd.

      Thanks for the awesome comment.

      1. Absolutely, Kharim Tomlinson. The newbie always failed or become successful slower because the just online follow the other top bloggers and not have their creative Ideas. Oh, anyway thanks for active responding

  18. Hi Kharim,
Every blogger should start blog with topics that he love to write. Otherwise he may loss interest to write for. Blogger need to spend some more time for his blog as possible.
    I appreciate this awesome post..
    Thanks:)

  19. I have been blogging for the past few months and I realized that blogging is not an easy task. You are offering valid points there. Blogging is a business, the more effort you put into it, the more chances you could win in the end.

    1. Hey Susan,

Nice to know that you are a blogger. Blogging is not easy, but it can be handled if you create a schedule and make it a habit to stick with it.

      Thanks for the comment.

  20. i agree with you every blogger definitely faces these problems at first this post is definitely a good way to start up for the beginners in blogging

  21. Hi Kharim,

Agreed with your points, I think it’s lack of consistency and passion that makes any blog to die. That’s why it’s really important to choose right niche as per your interest so that you can give 100% efforts.

    1. Hello Pankaj,

Yep once a person has interest and passion for the topic which his blog lies in, then success can be easily achieved.

      Thanks for the comment.

  22. Hello Karim
Firstly many thanks for sharing its quite beneficial. Its quite focusing innovative strategy about writing blogs and about passionate writing. Its certainly is the best writing tips I have come across; in addition every blogger must read it

  23. I do agree with you that mostly bloogers fail beacuse of their lack of dedication and passion. Its important to work honestly and regularly on our site and money should not be kept as the primary motive of the blog. Following these steps will definitely lead to success sooner or later.

  24. Unfortunately this post is so true. And the worth thing, these super blogers take nice domain and don’t write anything. I had a story recently. My neighbor girl (about 16 y.o.) asked me to help her with WordPress for her hand made blog. She does a good thing and I’m sure she will be popular in blogospehere. So we started to look for a nice domain first, she wanted to host in on WordPress. And it took about 2.5 hours for us to find available doamin name. All nice one that she had in mind were taked. I came across so many dead blogs with nice domain names that I felt frustrated. Why WordPress don’t close these names?

    1. Hey Evan,

Finding a good domain name can be really hard. It gets me upset at times to know that a good domain name doesn’t have anything on it when someone else needs it.

Well I am not sure as to why WordPress doesn’t close those names. Try contacting them.

      Thanks for the comment.

  25. Am glad that you have highlighted where bloggers go wrong. Most articles that I have read always talk about the rosy side of blogging forgetting the failures.

    1. Hey Viren,

Blogging has both ups and downs. So talking about both can give an eye-opener to new bloggers who thing that blogging is all about making money and living easy.

      Thanks for the comment.

  26. You are right Kharim. I believe that there is nothing like overnight success. You need to keep patience to achieve your goals.

    Great post indeed.

    Regards,
    Amrik Virdi

  27. Hey Kharim,

Some great tips that are always appreciated. I haven’t been blogging very long but i enjoy trying to help others with my blog and also maybe have a laugh as well .

    Nice one,

    Wayne

    1. Hey Wayne,

All you have to do is try not to fall in the waters trying to make money for your blog will sure drown.

As you mention, have fun and this will make blogging much easier.

      Thanks for the comment.

  28. Couldn’t agree with you more, Kharim – I think a lot of people starting out just have no idea how much work is involved in running a blog. As you say, you need dedication, commitment and creativity – amongst other things, you’ve got to be prepared to deal with the technical side of things, which can be a big challenge if, like me, you’re not that savvy about techie stuff.

It can be tough going, but very rewarding, and it’s a shame so many bloggers give up before their blogs have chance to get off the ground,

    Sue

    1. Hello Sue Neal,

      Wonderful comment you made.

When I just started out blogging, I didn’t know this much success would have come my way. I was new to blogging but what I did was to make sure I learn as I go along. Doing that helped me greatly and this is the reason I am where I am today in the blogosphere.

      Thanks for the comment.

  29. great post bro and i completely agree with your point. i think its time to consider blogging as a professional job just because a lot are making their living from blogging and this feature of blogs have inspired the youngsters mainly students to start a blog and earn money quickly but actually they don’t realize that earnings cannot be made from blogging unless you are fully dedicated to your blog and your blog shows an outstanding performance

    1. Hey Jithin,

Dedication to a blog is one of the keys to blogging success. Once this is applied then the rest will fall into place.

      Thanks for the comment.

  30. Absolutely right Kharim, too many blogs start and most of them don’t see the light of day after its first domain renewal. In fact, most bloggers think that one can make money easily from the comfort of the home but in reality a lot of hard work and sleepless nights are required to make real money from blogs. Thank you for putting bloggers on the ground level. Have a nice day. Off to my boring and see what I can do for my next post, Ciao.

    1. Hi Sharma,

Blogging just to make money is like a no-no for me. Yes I want to make money but most of all I want to teach others to make a successful blog.

Sleepless nights I can surly attest to that when I just started out and had a few problems with coding my blog. But I managed to do it and I am on the road to success.

      Thanks for the comment.

  31. Surely more blogs should be created! Every person has his or her own vision of some events or things, which can be expressed in the form of a blog article. And what I want to add is that the blog is successful when a blogger who owns it is satisfied with the blog. Don’t measure success by traffic or money only.

  32. I agree on all accounts. I was actually writing an article this morning and determined 6 keys to blogging success: commitment, creativity and consistency as well as passion, persistence and patience. (I love alliterations). Have a great day!

  33. I think lack of time is the biggest factor for most most blogs to fail. It happens with me too that sometime I don’t have time to publish new post and sometimes the gap between two posts, extends to one week which results in decreased traffic.
By the way your all points are valid. Nice post.

    1. Hey Usama,

You are so right. When a blogger doesn’t have time for blogging then this person will fail. If you don’t devote some time to your blog then you won’t be successful.

Hope you will get back on track soon pal.

      Thanks f or the comment.

  34. Great post, many blogs fail because they lack the creativity and interesting content. If more bloggers would stay longer than a year with their blogs, they would see the benefits.
    thanks for sharing

  35. Kharim, one must really love blogging to continue as it’s a lot of work and dedication. Many think they can succeed or make money quickly via a blog. It takes a lot of work and time. You must also be part of a community, something you cannot do overnight. Great post on the realities of blogging.

    1. Hello Lisa,

Yes blogging does take a lot of time, hard word, passion, dedication and energy. For those who think that blogging is a get rich quick scheme must be dreaming, because if that was the case then everybody would have been a blogger.

      Thanks for the comment.

    1. Hey Anis,

Yep that is the worst mistake for true. One should always remember their blog readers are the ones that will bring in the money.

      Thanks for the comment.

  36. I couldn’t agree more. adding value to the readers is important in having a successful blog. this was such an interesting read.
Thanks again for a useful post!

  37. I blog because I have a passion for what I blog about, it is not about making money for me, just to write aout something I love.

    1. Hey Jay,

That is so nice of you. This is what blogging should be about. The money making is the benefit.

Thanks for the comment and all the best in blogging.

  38. Does Google read the keywords in my blog as part of my website or does it see these two things differently? I’ve been using a blog thinking it will help me rank better for favors for weddings but after reading this article now I think I’m wasting my time. I do use a newsletter but never thought of posting it to my website. How should I go about doing that? Just copy and past the content to a new page?

  39. I would say most (good) blogs fail because they don’t gain traction with their target audience before the author(s) becomes demotivated. It’s not just sufficient to generate good content – marketing is an essential element for success. We initially spent a small amount (about $100-$200) on marketing Wonkie and then when the subscriptions started gaining momentum we received a lot more referral and (organic) search engine traffic we toned down the advertising. Now we have over 20,000 regular readers and 6000 fans on facebook despite posting just once each week.

  40. Hey Anurag,

So this is why it is important to start a blog on a topic that you have accurate knowledge about and also something that a person loves.

    Thanks for the comment.

  41. I totally agree with points 2 & 3,

When I first started websites I went in with the sole aim of making money which meant my site was geared more towards my own needs than those of my visitors.

On the side I also had my personal blog where I shared my travels, tips on setting up a blog etc and too this day that’s still one of my biggest earning blogs.

I think the problem people have is they don’t plan out there days so even though they may put the hours in they hardly get anything done.

One tip I would give to people new to blogging is write down all the things you want to complete the next day and once you have accomplished them turn your computer off.

This way you work hard and fast with more free time for other activities.

    1. Hey Lee,

What you should have done is to take your blog visitors in to mind more. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us and thanks for the comment as well.

  42. Hi Kharim,

A scriptures says “the love of money is the root of all evil.”the money issue is the main reason why most people come into blogging. Not really interested in the act, but love the money. As they couldn’t undergo what it takes, they go down straight.
    Good post here.

    1. Hey Olukunle,

You are right about that pal, because most people want to make money today but being eager to make it through blogging will only cause a blog to fail. One needs to gradually build up a blog first and then that would give that person a better chance of making money.

      Thanks for the comment.

  43. Blog should definitely be more and more… and nobody shouldn’t think that there are too many blogs out there and you can’t do it. Once you got your blog, spend a little bit of your time on your blog post and promote it is the most important which to let everybody know that you’re existing. And be aware of creating too much content but promote.

    1. Hey Ferb,

I totally agree with you. Once a person creates a blog and wants to make it successful they should work on their blog to make it happen.

      Thanks for the comment pal.

  44. Kharim,

I agree with your points. In my own words I can summarize your points like this:
Most bloggers copy the idea of a successful blogger rather than launch theirs. They believe that they can make money overnight by launching a make money online blog, just like John Chow or Seth Godin.
But they later realize that blogging requires much effort — much more than they can give.
So, they leave the blogging idea altogether.

  45. I have been blogging since last year and still not getting success. Now I came to know that I was really lacking creativity and regularity in my blog. Thanks for figuring out the problem. Now I will surely fix the problem and will try to give proper time to my blog.

    1. Hey Asim,

Once you blog on a regular basis and follow these tips then you can see some good results on your blog.

Thanks for the comment and all the best to you.

  46. Kharim,

I agree with your points. But I’ll like to add that most blogs fail also because of the attitude of bloggers. Some don’t believe in spending a dime until they start to earn money. Many don’t understand that they’ll have to spend money to earn money.
As a result, such people start their blog on free platforms, use free themes that look unprofessional. This contributes to their ultimate failure.

    1. Hey Abass,

For me, I like to say “you have to spend money to make money” and this can be classed as investing. When you invest in your blog and treat it like a business then you can make tons of money from it.

      Thanks for the comment pal.

  47. This one is a good article. This can help my blog in gaining success and the article is very well written, just like Asim Nawaz I’ve been blogging for more than 1 year now and still haven’t gain much attention, until I’ve read this post I realized that i also lack creativity on my post.

  48. Kharim, you are so true… Millions of blogs and websites are created on the sole purpose of generating money and revenue. When this is their purpose then i can bet they will never find useful content for their users… Which results in blog failing… Wonderful article and good points about it…!!!

    1. Hi Sajib,

Blogging should be fun and something thing which a person loves. If you are only in it for the money then you will tend to fail.

      Thanks for the comment pal.

  49. Totally agree with you. Another reason I feel most blogs fail is due to plagiarism. They think they won’t be penalized. And true you must have good knowledge regarding your blogging niche. Plus you must blog frequently. follow a schedule sincerely. Its a long term thing if you want to make it any kind of a start-up.

    1. Hey Ashay,

I must agree with you that plagiarism is on the rampage and it is really annoying. They will be penalized because search engines are getting smarter and won’t index such blogs.

You r point about blogging is a long term thing is a valid one.

      Thanks for the comment.

  50. I’ve read this article several times and I keep coming back because there is so much here and the comments add even more. Traffic continues to be the challenge and what I got from your post this time is that it’s time for some article submission and guest posting. I guest posted on Blog Engage and wrote about the large sums of money being spent with pinterest. Thanks for the tips.

    1. Hey Jennifer,

Once you enjoy writing then that will help you to get through in blogging. Thanks for coming back to my article to read it over and over again.

You can check out my blog as well where you can read more of my articles.

Continue to do more guest posting as well and thanks for the comment.

  51. Time must be set aside dailu…Daily to blog. if you want to be successful. I don’t think alot of people realize the amount of time it takes to be a successful blogger. The see the rewards, and in this 24/7 world want the benefits now!

    1. Hey Eric,

You are so right. The more time we spend in building up our blog then success will come much quicker. A lot of people don’t realize this, they give up easy and never reach success.

      So sad though.

      Thanks for the comment.

      1. Well, my site is only a few months old and I’ve only started working on getting traffic this month.
So far, I’m ranking on page 2 and 3 for keywords so search engine traffic isn’t going to be my biggest source of traffic.

Also, most of my traffic is from tumblr currently so it’s really unstable. I’m still learning and the initial traffic I find is pretty hard to get.

If you have any tips specifically on getting traffic then please share them!

        1. Well for search engine to work for you, you need to target keywords that matches your blog.

That way you can get to rank better for those keywords.

          thanks again for commenting.

  52. Hey Kharim,
Awesome post with great information and I am totally agree with you that for a successful blog we have to update our blog regularly and also have to make links with other blog continuously. All the points you mentioned above are must for a successful blog. Thanks for sharing this post.

  53. I think Lack of Passion is one of the most important aspects in making money online, our energy should be driven by passion. We need to not only study other bloggers tips and ideas but we have to get ourselves really on focus and make blogging as a passion for us. Lack of passion will driven us out into our goals of making money online. It is important to have passion and positive energy to achieve what you want from your blog. If you have passion, you will overcome barriers and achieve your targets.

    1. Hey Serdar,

I totally agree with you on that point. Once you have passion then you don’t need anything else.

With passion you will want to blog on a regular basis, do the things which drives traffic and also networking with others.

Passion says it all and also when it comes to making money passion for blogging will help you to do so.

      Thanks for the comment.

  54. Exactly, if you are writing a blog with the aim of getting money that also without knowledge, you are surely to fail. Blogger must have passion for writing the blog, than only they will succeed.

    1. Hi Rashmi,

Once a person starts to blog for money then they have to develop a business like thinking. If they don’t then they will end up failing.

      Thanks for the comment.

  55. totally agree with all your points, newbie blogger just want quick money and that is why they fail very early and leave blogging….

  56. I totally agree with you on the reasons why blogs fail. Whem some people write a blog they are not committed to it. They lose interest and fail to blog on a regular basis. They also lack knowledge on the topics they blog about which for me is a no-no. If you want to create a blog then write about something you have knowledge about and you are passionate about as well. Also make sure that you are committed to your blog and you have thr right reasons for creating it. Thanks!

    1. Hey Lynne,

That is the same thing that I was talking about on my blog. People need to create blogs on topic that they have accurate knowledge about so that they can always have something to write about and something that they would be interested in learning more about as well.

      Thanks for the comment.

  57. Thank you Kharim for an excellent post worth share. I agree that a new blogger must first forget about money and concentrate on creating good content. But they must also have great patience and “never give up” mentality.
Being regular is also very important. Great points to remember. Thanks.

      1. Well you can post anytime you want. Everyday, every 2 days or 3 days apart.

Lisa Irby who is a successful bloggers posts once per week. For me, I post whenever I have something new for my readers.

But what I would recommend though for success, you can post 2 to 3 days apart.

    1. Once a person has patience and passion for blogging, that’s all it needs for that person to become a successful blogger.

      Thanks for the comment.

  58. Reading your article was like receiving a great big hug. You’ve assured me I have what it takes to succeed–a passion, an important message to share with the world, a unique perspective, the commitment and dedication to succeed, life-long learner, patience, in it for the long-term (until I can’t type anymore-then I’ll invest in voice activated systems), enjoying the journey, loving the adventure, ready for the challenge, a can-do attitude, willing to get out of my comfort zone to move forward, all the time in the world to devote to my website/blog and book writing, the traffic is starting to come as I learn networking and marketing techniques and as I gain credibility little by little with each post/book I write and with each new friend I meet. Your encouragement is priceless. I can’t thank you enough, Kharim.

    1. Hello Cat,

Your points that you have made in your comment is valid. This goes to show that you have understood my article.

Thanks for the comment and all the best to you.

  59. Like what you said, one of the reasons why peoples blogs fail is because of lack of knowledge. I am 4 months old in blogging. What I do, is that I write from my own experiences.

    1. Hey Wilfred,

This is what I always recommend to new bloggers. Write about the stuff that you know. As time goes along then you will gain more knowledge so that you can become a more experienced writer.

Thanks for the comment and all the best with blogging.

  60. Extremely great article.Blogging is made for genuinely passionate blogger.Blogging for money is not a blogger. The blogger is the one who writes in many sites for free(like guest posts) and have patience to wait and takes his or her blog to a high. Thanks Ileane Mam for providing such great platform of guesposting.

    1. You are right about that. A blogger should be a person that loves to write and loves to share knowledge with others through writing. The money is the benefit.

      Thanks for the comment.

  61. I want to be a part of the 3% that are successful. This is a great post. It’s very to the point and I relate to creativity. It’s difficult to keep posts fresh.

  62. Great post as a new bie this information is so helpful for me. I think blogging is not a easy task. successful blog writing you have knowledge in various field. and time to time updating your tactics, content in continue way. and focus our blog quality which types content we choose it and other part money we follow the ethics money automatic generate.

    1. Hey pal,

I think once you enjoy blogging then it will become much easier for you. If you have passion as well for the niche that you are blogging in then this is where your success can come in a few months.

      Thanks for the comment.

  63. For me, the most important element to a successful blog is the passion and interest in the niche chosen and with blogging in general. The readers will feel or sense if the writer is really sincere with the information he wants to share with everyone.

    1. You are so right about that. Passion plays a big roll in becoming successful when it comes to blogging. If you are not all that passionate about the niche that you have chosen then success is likely to come your way.

      Thanks for the comment.

  64. I think the lack of inspiration after a certain point is the reason why most blogs shut down or stop posting. If the blog was created keeping monetary benefits in mind, then the author would be really disappointed at some point of time to realize that it is not as easy at it seemed. Some sell their blogs, some stop paying for the hosting and what more.

    1. Hey Joe,

I totally agree with you. Some bloggers after a while stop blogging because the results they are getting is not something which was expected. They expected more and was disappointed so they give up on blogging.

      Thanks for the comment.

  65. Health and Family Problems are another two big ones that cause bloggers to suddenly quit and drop offline, it is a significant investment if you are serious about turning blogging into an online venture and not just a casual interface to unload your thoughts and opinions, your time with your family can suffer if you don’t meter out and balance your work load carefully, it is all too easy to lose hours to social media interactions, reading and commenting on other blogs so setting a schedule with specific activities can help increase efficiency and reduce burnout.

    1. Hey Justin,

You are so right about that man. Things can change in a split second.

I remember when I stopped blogging a few months ago and I had no control over it. Took me 2 months to come back. Work and other areas of my life got so busy that I had to stop blogging.

But glad to be back now.

      Thanks for your input pal.

  66. You tha man Kharim!

    Real talk for sure.

People just want instant success and money, but we all know where those people end 🙂

  67. A great one, Kharim!

Passion and schedule definitely play a huge role here.
I began blogging back in 2007 and was posting from time to time. Most of the time I was almost forcing myself to. And that made it really heard – and, of course, the creativity level was way below zero.
Today, when I schedule my posts in advance, the flow of ideas is endless. So I always have things to write about.

  68. Hi, This is really an awesome post. I have to thank you for sharing this great sources. I am already following few blogs from your list. Will have to follow some more. Thanks for sharing a good info..

  69. yes , i agree with you
mostly with the first (Lack Of Passion & Knowledge)
i think this is why most people failed

if you are a man and you pick a pregnant niche because there a high payout offers in that niche ,you will hard to success because you don’t know anything about pregnant and then you stop posting so your blog now is a dead blog

    thanks for your tips
now i just need more network

    1. Hey Adi,

I like the illustration that you used. You are so right about that. It’s best to blog on things that you know about or have experience in.

      Thanks for the comment.

  70. Wow this is a really inspiring article . Love every second of it just make me feel to work harder than before.

  71. Hi,

First time commenting on this blog, I really enjoyed the post – I think it raises a LOT of really great points.

The problem that I have is traffic, I do EVERYTHING suggested to get a ton of traffic in this post, and a whole lot more and it just doesn’t seem to make a massive difference.

i do believe a LOT of people have unrealistic expectations, my blog is 16 months old and has a lot of good content, and should be getting a lot of traffic – But SEO has a HUGE factor to play surely …..

My on page SEO is excellent, so now i’m working at off page SEO and really analysing other sites to help – it’s worth mentioning, because I am sure there are a lot of people out there like me who have a great blog and do all you’ve suggested here and still lacking in the numbers game!

    Great post, 🙂

    Clair

    1. Hi Clair,

Well getting traffic to a blog is one of the biggest challenge for many people. What I try to do is guest post on other blogs in my niche that has higher traffic and also blog commenting. I also use use Google Adwords.

      Thanks for the comment.

  72. Yep Leon, once you have unique contents on your blog along with great marketing skills to pull in people to read, you can be successful.

    Thanks for the comment pal.

  73. Thanks for writing this.

As a new blogger, I feel like I am inundated with things I should be doing. It’s nice to see a list of things that could make me fail. Sometimes I need to know what not to do.

    Thanks for the tips!
