1. Newsletter Signup
Newsletter signup is a powerful email list building plugin that doesn’t cost a dime. The plugin offers 2 fantastic options for your readers to signup:
- It lets you add a checkbox in the comment form and registration form.
- Embed the newsletter optin form to your blog posts with a shortcode.
When you configure this plugin, you can choose to have the checkbox checked by default. This plugin works with AWeber, Mailchimp & iContact.
Newsletter Signup is a simple plugin that takes less than a minute to setup.
I know most people hate the popups but if tweaked properly for your audience, it can have a positive impact.
Putting beautiful designed popups is the way to get more subscribers. I’ve used this strategy to grow the subscriber base and it really works well.
At WordPress Kube, Pippity is configured to show popup when a user is done with reading the blog post and if the visitor closes a popup, it won’t show till 365 days.
Here are few tips to get more subscribers with Pippity:
- Show popup on to particular group of visitors from a specific site.
- Don’t show the popup every time someone goes to your website.
- Don’t show the popups when someone is in the middle of a blog post.
- Configure Pippity to show only when a user is done with reading the blog post.
3. Hello Bar
Hello bar also known as attention grabber. Hellobar was first of its kind. It allows you to add any text along with a link to the top floating bar.
DiyThemes (the Thesis Theme blog run by Derek Halpern) uses HelloBar to get people signup for the online conversions book. There are a number of blogs using Hellobar simply to grow their number of email list signups including Ramit Sethi, Neil Patel, DiyThemes, etc.
4. OptinMonster
Another list building plugin that is available is called OptinMonster. The plugin does a fantastic job – it simply adds a beautiful designed optin forms to your website. They have a drag and drop builder for your forms and exit intent technology. You can A/B split test your forms and use the built-in analytics to choose the best version. OptinMonster can also be used outside of WordPress, so if you are using a different platform for your website, give this one a try.
5. Comment Redirect
Comment Redirect is fantastic plugin that redirect first time commenters to a page of your choice. Once you install and active the plugin, all of your first-time commenters will be sent to your Thank You page which will help you increase your email list subscribers.
Setting up the comment redirect plugin is an easy task but building the Thank You page will take a little more effort.
I've recently started testing this plugin on few of my blogs and it's already converting well.
