Awesome! article Saad, I agree with all the points thanks for sharing..
thanks hammed , really glad you like the post.
And with the advent of so many ecommerce companies providing developer solutions to people, the trend is not only growing, but the access for ‘normal ‘people to have it done without having to pay tens of thousands for the system is becoming more accessible. Definitely exciting times coming. I mean we can already pay with tweets ;D
thanks for putting in your view Ivin , always great to see someone adding quality to the content.
Hi Saad,
I can easily see your effort in this article.
You have written nice point on a micro topic – ‘Benefit of Accepting payment through
Credit Card’
Truely speaking i am in industry since 2005 but I have started using credit card from Feb 2012 and now i know how beneficial of using CC if you use it wisely.
You just need to have an eye of your CC statement and then you can enjoy its unlimited benefit.
Thanks for sharing such a nice article
Well this topic is about y website owners should have a credit card payment on their website.
Like you said if used wisely , i am 100% with you on that , cc comes with lots of advantages ! free miles and stuff but if not used properly then the sums just doubles up =/
This a great way to make a payment online and as a customer I like sites that offer me this option. From my point of view the money transfer is quick and safe.
Saad,
Can’t people make credit card payments through Paypal even if they don’t have a Paypal account?
Are you saying don’t use Paypal?
Thanks!
Ryan H.
I am afraid , they cant. paypal lets you use credit card only once at the beginning later on you have to add your card and bank details in Paypal and get verified.
Let me explain you a bit more , when you buy for the first time , you go to paypal site they ask you to enter cc details and your new paypal account details.
When you buy a product second time , you enter paypal website and as soon as you enter you card details they say you already have an account here and doesn’t let you pay directly , for that you have to get verified by paypal. (not saying paypal is a bad option)
So if you are having a cc option on your website , then there is no hassle , you are getting money in to your account directly from a buyer’s account without any third party involved.
if you have any questions let me know.
If you have a eCommerce store, then credit card is like the only best way, outside of Paypal or electronic checks.
All of the big dogs are using the credit card method, why not you. Great article Saad.
having as many payment options is always good , i run another site in which there is only paypal option and i see so many people closing the browser after adding the product in the cart , so i made a exit browser survey so check whats the issue and 95% people said that they dont have paypal and wish to pay by credit card.
so yea , credit card and paypal are important features when designing a site.
You are correct Saad, every business should accept payments for their products or services. However accepting payments through accepting credit cards online is not an option for small businesses. I advise my web design clients to open a PayPal business account and I set up their website to accept PayPal payments. There are no upfront fees and a merchant account is not required. If the website is successful they can add the option of accepting credit cards directly.
yea cant agree more with you , i tried putting a credit card option on one of my website but the credit card charges were too much per transaction so i thought of sticking to Paypal for now and in near future I am definitely going to put a credit option , because i am loosing customers after the add the product in their cart and see no credit card option.
Thanks for adding in the post.
Credit card use provides a more flexible way for larger business by saving more time. Companies like 2checkout.com are getting more popular day by day as they are doing all they can to provide quality services between the customer and the seller and soon many will be switching to accepting credit cards.
Thanks for the awesome post.
exactly , the place where i am living in we have to competitors cobone.com and groupon.com , boht are everyday deals website.
even though groupon is owned by google and has high reputation , cobone outsources them as groupon doesnt have Paypal in their site. so cobone took the advantage and added 6-7 different type of payment options , so cobone is rolling high and groupon is stuck there , you can see how much difference the payment options can make.
I agree, it does inspire more confidence if you allow credit card payments as opposed to just PayPal. It’s not just that we want to know that the information being sent is encrypted but we also want to know that the site owner will deliver. And that’s where the confidence comes into play. It’s good to provide the visitor with many options though and they will also want to see some kind of security seal as proof of correct encryption.
Thanks Gabrielle , i was just explaining gil how one company can outsource another by just adding more payment options.
Hi Saad,
Great article about Credit Card payments. I am sure If you accept Credit card payment on site you will get more sales, winning new customers, increasing conversion rates and rate of customer retention for your website.
Thank you.
yup , credit card payments increase the sales for website owners , have as many payments options as you can.
The more options available the more money you can take ….
give me a reason not to agree with you 😉
Thanks for this excellent read. At the back of my mind I was always worried about accepting payments through credit cards as I always had a fear of being conned. However, after reading your post it has become clear about the benefits. Please do keep posting such helpful and beneficial posts.
cons ? the internet security from credit card companies are pretty good , I have been using credit card for online payments since 2009 , and i haven’t faced a single problem.
Hi Saad,
First of all congrats for your first article here at BBT.
This is very useful post for those online companies or websites who still not offering credit card payment method.
Hey Saad,
As I read the post title, the first thing that screamed out at me was. Using Paypal as a payment processor for your business and how I wouldn’t advise it.
1) Paypal chargebacks.
2) Paypal freeze accounts without any warning.
3) Look unprofessional
For serious business, accepting credit cards via an alternative platform would be the best solution. Nice post.
Heeeey Simmeon ! How are you buddy? nice to see you here =D
I am not saying paypal is a bad option , though it gives us headache at critical times , which sucks! and I have faced all the 3 situations you have mentioned here , but still paypal has good user base all over the world so its cannot be ignored, right?
Having a credit card options increases the ratio of your product selling.
see you again soon .
Thank you very much. Its a really informative posts.
I do not know and I not give any preference to credit card holders but now I have learned many new things.
Thanks very much.
Excellent reasons for why I should use credit cards on my site. I am currently working on my sales page for my upcoming book, 62 Posts to Overcome Blogger’s Block, and I will definitely be adding a credit card option on my page. Thanks so much!
Thats great marie , someday i would want to create my own product and sell it and I am sure after reading this post you will be adding a credit card option on your sales page.
Good luck with your project , hoping to see you soon again 😀
Hi Saad!
Great compiled list of reasons but I am little confused regarding how you can give preffered credit card over paypal?
So far I have used paypal and its working well but credit card sometimes gives hassle and that’s really annoyed.
hey Ayaz , can you show me one line where I went against paypal ?
paypal is definitely a great option but along credit card , you need to have both the options in order to get sales.
A lot of people are afraid to use credit card in the Internet and i don’t blame them for it. But if you are careful enough, you can make a great profit. Just make sure the security is high to avoid being scammed or hacked!
yea i cant agree , even i hesitates to use it first online but then when i started using it , I cant stop using it now , i mean there are so many good offers and coupon online that you want to buy them but make sure your are using your credit on a safe and high authority websites like amazon or the one which was suggested by your friend’s .
Interesting, I am not selling or buying anything so it does not concern me at the moment. But if I do, I will take a note of the payment methods. However, I must add that Paypal has been unbeaten and still continues to be the lifeline of many businesses.
Paypal + credit card option = best selling experience for a seller and a buyer
Thanks Shalu for dropping in your comment.
We all bloggers are facing lot of problems regarding online payment in pakistan, its too hard to get credit card for bloggers ,only one bank gives the debit card which can be used to buy online
very true , lemme dig more in the issue you have pointed out and will come back with a post to solve this issue.
I am sure something can be done about it and majortiy of the bloggers are from india and pakistan .
I am in dubai so i was not aware of it, thanks for pointing out the issue.
Hi Pardeep,
Dealing with international clients I come across the same issues sometimes. The market is less developed and more fraud occurs thus accepting credit card payments is difficult. I would offer the following suggestions:
1. Paypal does allow you to integrate via an API so that the payment screen contains no PayPal branding. This does require a decent amount of programming expertise and also time for PayPal to approve a merchant account, since the company takes more precautions with internatial customers.
2.) Utilise a merchant processor that accepts international clients. Many exist. Do a quick search for ‘merchant credit card accounts’ on Google. Most companies, provide a the same service to international clients, but it is not as heavily promoted and there are multiple hoops to jump through before an account is approved. I actually possesed such a company as an SEO client so they do exist ;).
Now if you are looking at obtaining a personal credit card then as your comment partially implies, then a simple route is to buy a pre-paid debit card with a major credit card logo. These are available in virtually every international market.
Hope this helps!
Hi Saad,
Excellent points; the more payment options aviable the better. However, I would add that it is crucial to offer a plethora of payment options aside from credit cards. Payment processing, especially for the small business owner, is quite expensive, especially when factoring in fraud. Every serious company should offer such and all ‘best of breed’ companies provide credit cards as a payment option, but encourage the usage of other means. Encouraging the use of another method helps reduce the cost. Amazon, does an excellent job of this. I witness many companies make the mistake of hiring an SEO company, obtaining excellent rankings, but then they cannot make a purchase on the website. This is a horrible misallocation of resources by not including a fundamental element to e-commerce website development as you correctly point out.
Great efforts. It is good to make payments through credit cards to increase conversion rates. Thanks for sharing this useful information.
Thanks amy , I hope you learned something new from this information 😉
Nice article, Saad. Despite the fact that the owner of paypal is ebay, credit cards are still more popular around the world, so I can’t understand why some sites don’t want to increase their sales.
Well some small companies dont use them because credit card charges are kind a lot for the their expenses. last time i check its was around 2% + $0.80 per transaction.
Oh, I didn’t know the charges were so high. If the main content of the site is small orders and goods than the expenses are truly too big.
Payments through credit cards really beneficial for our business. It increase our sales. nice article thanks for sharing it……….
thanks prakash , really glad you liked it and learned something new.
Adding different options to payments is really very essential to any ecommerce websites as it will cater any type of paying consumer. This is something that every webmaster should think about and this article should be promoted. 🙂 Good job on this.
Thanks Glen , really glad you liked the article and i totally agree with you when you say credit card is very essential for any ecommerce website.
I am really considering accepting payments through credit cards, and the only problem I am encountering now is building a page that would do just the trick. I am very cautious in these kinds of payments and that is why I wouldn’t even try building it and putting it up on my website. I am afraid the anti-hacking measure I would put up would just be in vain. Do you know any websites that would teach me better anti-hacking measures?
thanks for dropping in your view Pulkit , hoping to connect with you soon.
You are right at your point that Credit Cards are most secured way to pay online. But Merchant websites should allow Debit cards also. Because mostly guys does not have credit cards and this creates the problem for them.
i don’t have credit card but i use alternative virtual credit card through entropy. 🙂
virtual credit card ?????
Credit card should be a primary method of accepting payment, but I would prefer if the option of debit card is also there and please for god’s sake make the payment process secured .. as you know the threats involved 🙂
Most people use internet for their business. They use credit cards without fear but some people don’t like to use credit cards because of they are very fear. Now internet has internet banks so you all can use internet banks without risk.thank
nice article saad u just have put all your efforts and have covered almost all the aspect ,and from security purpose also it is good to use credit cards
Credit card is always easiest method to pay, but in my country Debit card actually do the trick.
How right you are, Saad. Credit card is the most convenient and safest way to pay online. Most of our purchases nowadays are done online, and having a credit card allows us instant access to web stores.
Every geek have credit card for sure, so its very profitable to attract more sales if accepting payments through credit card. nice explanation mate 🙂
Hi Saad,
I agree that Credit Card is most accepted mode of financial transactions across the globe, today. In fact, it is easier and hassle free as one need not carry cash everywhere. But how about the ones who do not use credit cards? I do not use it and I know many who do not use.

Sanjib
