Get more traffic

How To Increase The Flow Of Traffic Coming To Your Blog

Have you ever had a sudden burst of traffic on your blog?

I'm sure you wish that traffic would go higher and higher each day. I have had that feeling lots of times and I just wish my traffic would continue to rise each day.

Well in order for me, you or anybody else who wants to increase their traffic flow, we need to put out the extra effort and work in order to do so. We have to be at it each and everyday if we want to increase our blog traffic. In this post I will give you tips on how you can build up your blog traffic.

Write Blog Posts Regularly

If you have little or no content on your blog then your blog traffic will be low. People  who visit your blog on a regular basis or they maybe a one time visitor are looking for information and this is why they have come to your blog. This means you have to put out your very best to have contents on your blog ready for these visitors.

More content on your blog doesn't necessarily mean that you will have more traffic. I have seen blogs loaded with content and hardly has any traffic; and I have seen new blogs with a few content and lots of traffic. You maybe asking, why is this so?

Here are some tips you can use to write for traffic on your blog:

Get more traffic with guest posts

  • You have to write on topics that are related to your niche.
  • You have to make sure that you stick to that niche.
  • You have to write on a regular basis.
  • You have to write content that appeals to your readers.
  • You must develop a great writing pattern.
  • You should be creative in your writing.
Practice these steps and you will be writing better content in no time.
In addition, you have to make sure that you write on a regular basis and as I mentioned above, you have to be creative and remember to stick to your niche.
As for me, what I do is plan my articles ahead of time, put my main points together and after that I write for each section. After that is done I format my article with fonts, align the paragraphs and insert images. Writing my blog posts normally takes me little over an hour.

Participate In Blog Commenting For Traffic

If you need to increase your traffic then blog commenting is one of the best ways to do it. You have to participate in blog commenting multiple times per day if increasing your blog traffic is what you wish to do.

When you are leaving comments, don't just say “great post”, “I loved your article”, “you should post more stuff like this” or “thanks for this post”. These are words of encouragement, but say a little more so that the other people who coment as well see that you are a person of great words. Writing a great comment as well can make the other commentators click through to your site.

Blog commenting increases blog traffic and also the number of backlinks, so you would want to do more blog commenting to get traffic as well. You can also reply to people's comment even if you are not the author of that blog post. That's right! Replying to a persons comment can also help you gain traffic to your blog. You can agree with the comment that you are replying to and also leave a key point so you can gain a visitor to your blog.

Forum Discussion Plays A BIG Role

If you haven't done any forum posting then you gotta be kidding me. How could you not do forum posting if you want to build up blog traffic?

Regular forum posting is one of the best way of getting quality and targeted blog traffic. Forum users always participate in group discussions on a particular topic and often need help or offering help to other members of the forum. This where your blog comes in. If you have a blog post of your blog which will help this forum member then you can easily share your blog link so you can get this person to your blog. If your article is good enough and has helped this person then you may gain this person as a subscriber or a returning visitor.

If your blog doesn't have a post which persons are looking for on a set topic, then what you can do is contact these persons and tell them that you will be having an upcoming blog post on this topic. This will make them want to look forward to your article or come to your blog in advance so they can subscribe to get your article as soon as you publish it.

So don't be afraid to use forums, they are a very powerful tool to pul in traffic to your blog. Here's more about forums from Lisa Irby.

Traffic Comes From Social Media And Networking

Millions of internet users swarm to social media and social networking sites every single hour. The buzz that social media and social networking sites create makes the buzz of a bee silent. These types of sites can help you to build up your blog traffic if you use it wisely.

You need to set up your profile so that you can target these internet users that maybe interested in your niche. You have to make your profile in a way which makes people want to follow you or be a member of your followers. Sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and now Pinterest can deliver many many traffic to your blog.

QUICK TIP: never spam your followers or subscribers they will get annoyed with you and stop following your updates.

Guest Post Like You're On Steroids

Guest post, guest post, guest post and guess what? MORE GUEST POST!

Need I say more?

Every time I do a guest post and reply to each comment left on my guest post, the traffic to my blog is always great. I enjoy guest posting and I enjoy getting comments on my articles, this in turns build traffic and backlinks back to my blog. When I reply to each comment then that means more links back to my blog and the result is more traffic to my blog as well.

When guest posting for traffic to your blog then you need to follow these rules below:

  • Always submit your best content for guest posts
  • It is best to guest post on niche related blogs
  • Remember to leave links back to your blog
  • Fill out your author bio with details about yourself
  • Use a profile picture of yourself, not a mystery man
  • Reply to each comment left on your guest post
  • NEVER LET A WEEK PAST WITHOUT DOING A GUEST POST
My last point that I made is very important if you want to guest post for traffic to your blog. Never let a week past without doing a guest post for a blog. That is one of the best ways to keep a flow of traffic coming to your blog.

Mailing List Or NewsLetters

When you have traffic coming to your site then no doubt you want these people to come back on a regular basis. You want to stay in contact with these persons. Why not capture their emails so you can stay in contact? btw, you can sign up for Ms. Ileane's tips here!

Sometimes a person may come to your blog for the first time and liked the information that you have presented there, but no opt-in form was in sight. Do you think it is possible that this person will come back? Maybe yes… Maybe no… This is why you need a mailing list for your blog. When people see something that they like and they know they can get more of it then they will do things like using their email address as a means of getting it. I'm talking about signing up to your news letter.

If you write excellent quality contents then people will be eager to subscribe to your mailing list. The trick to get people to sign up is write excellent contents, display your opt-in form and remember to offer a freebie for sign up. When you email those who have subscribed to your list then you need to keep up the excellent content or whatever you plan on emailing them, or else they will leave your mailing list.

Advertising For More Traffic

I have bought ad space on couple of blogs to get some traffic to my blog. Did this work? Yes it did! Banner advertisements are one of the most popular means of getting traffic to your blog or website. Small businesses to big companies always do advertising so as to get more traffic to their websites, these traffic now turns into customers and then the customers turns into profits.

Here are some tips for you if you plan to do banner advertising:

  • If you want to make some money from your blog or website then you should do some advertising to get in more trafic then do your best to convert your blog traffic into money. It is easy said than done but it can happen.
  • If you decide to do banner advertising then the first thing you want to have is an eye catching banner. This eye catching banner is sure to get traffic to your blog when people see your banner.
  • Setting up a landing page maybe optional but can help to cover your incoming blog traffic to money.
  • When you start to get traffic from your banner advertising then you should have niche related products displayed on your blog if you are an affiliate marketer. This will help to boost your money making efforts.
  • If you have a mailing list then invite your traffic to subscribe for more freebies or whatever you have to offer them. Using freebies as a bribe to sign up to your mailing list may seem desperate, but it always works.

Video Blogging To Get Targeted Traffic

I'm not gonna lie to you, I haven't done much video blogging and this is something that I am going to be doing soon and very soon. I have done 3 YouTube videos since I started blogging 2 years ago and they have gotten my blog some decent traffic. When a person starts to watch your videos and they get the info they are looking for then this person can become a targetd user of your blog.

Video blogging is a means of showing your visitors who you are and also when you get in front of the camera and start to talk, this makes person want to hear more of what you want to say. I love watching videos over reading sometimes, no I'm not lazy, but this makes me enthused when I watch videos to do video blogging as well.

Ms. Ileane has done some great videos and also Lisa of 2createawebsite.com, and they are great examples of why video blogging can make you successful in getting traffic to your blog.

  1. I’d love to know more about forums. I have not done much with them. They seem to have so many rules and regulations. Do you have some forums you could recommend?

    1. @Lisa – Almost every forum has a list of rules for new members (generally stickied somewhere in the forum). General rule of thumb – start adding value before adding links/signatures in order to get traffic. If you establish yourself as a reputable forum member first, the rest comes easy (and you’ll generally be following all the rules!)

  2. As usual, lots of good tips here. Wanna add a few things: Also “seo” your blog post and make sure its not keyword stuffed. You also wanna rank in the search engines for certain keywords and make sure you do your homework and find the right keywords and go for a keyword density of around 2-4%. Secondly, submit your blog post to some free backlinks services like for instance OnlyWire in order to rank even higher. Additionally, make a video of the text and submit it to youtube and more.

    1. Yep that’s right. SEO is one of the best source of targeted traffic, plus its free.
      Backlink services are also great.

Thanks for the comment Rick, keep up the good work pal.

    2. Rick, I’m on a shoe-string budget. Do you have any more “1 click submit” websites that are free to use?

  3. Kharim, this article lays down the foundation on how to get good traffic. Good job, man!

I have to get in the guest posting business, and start to actually get some article out there. 🙂

You won’t get traffic if you don’t work hard on any of these points, and try to focus on two or three on them to benefit the most.

    1. Hey Samuel, guest posting is the bomb when it comes to getting traffic man. If you try to write 3 post each week then you can use one of them as a guest post. When you start getting traffic then you will get guest posts on your blog as well, so this will leave you with more time to guest post and get more traffic.

  4. Kharim,

Having seen the big spike and then the depressing drop off myself I can say from experience the most important aspect of retaining that traffic is gaining new subscribers…

Make it very easy for first time visitors to subscribe to your blog either through RSS or Newsletter or by connecting on social platforms. If you can get a good number of these people to subscribe then there is a very good chance they will be exposed to your content again and visit on a regular basis.

    Great post!

    Ryan H.

    1. Yep thats so true Ryan. I have a subscription box on my blog in 3 different places, so this makes it easy for my visitors and readers to subscribe.

      Thanks for the comment man!

  5. I find writing really, really good content boosts traffic Kharim. Listen to your target audience, tailor your solution to their needs, and generate a ton of traffic. Thanks for sharing the awesome tips.

    1. Yep that’s true. I always try my very best to write great contents for my blog and even a better content to present as guest post.

Thanks for the comment Ryan, appreciate it.

  6. To me, something important to mention about the social sites is that you should 1) post things other than just your updates – Twitter followers seem to especially expect this, and 2) don’t expect every follower to read everything that you post. I think it’s closer to 10% (or less) of the people that actually follow you on the social sites that will read any given post. But, hey, at least since they’re following you, they care enough to know when you post something.

    1. Hey Josh,

Whenever I use Twitter or Facebook, I don’t just post blog updates, I also post other things about myself or things that I find amusing online. Another thing is that not everyone will respond to what we post on social media sites. Some will see it and go by, other will want to read more.

      Thanks for the comment 🙂

  7. You nailed every point on the head! I’ll vouch for post consistently and guest blogging any time. These two have a way of driving traffic beyond your imagination. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Good stuff Kharim! I love how hard you work at making your blog successful. These steps are absolutely essential for site traffic. Too bad I cannot get the COURAGE to write a guest post.
Video blogging is a real traffic getter, although I do not actually speak on my videos…they still get goooooood traffic with simple Optimized Titles. Good Luck on the video aspect, I already know you will be great!

    1. Hey Bryan,

I think you should get going on building up your traffic man. Don’t waste anymore time. I would invite you to make a guest post on my blog.

      Thanks for the comment bro.

    1. @Kenny

      I couldn’t disagree more.

It’s about quality content that drives traffic not quantity of content.

    2. Well I don’t write daily. I try to write every now and then, but I have guest bloggers on my blog and I publish every 2-3 days apart.

Thanks for the comment Kenny, well appreciated!

  9. The biggest challenge for me is coming up with new content multiple times a week. I’ve just started setting up the Google notifications when news or anything related to my niche is indexed. Hoping this helps with the content creation which will ultimately lead to more fresh and compelling blog posts.

    1. I get new ideas from other blogs, forums, social media and brain storming. This is what you should do. You have to think about what your readers would like to read and come up with a great article.

      Hope this helps you Chris.

  10. Hi I think guest posting is probably the best way to get a lot of traffic to a new blog. If you pick the right blogs to write for.

There’s no point doing a guest post for a blog a similar size to yours, you’ll be much better off spending more time on your post and try getting it on the A listers blogs.

You will get much more traffic focusing on the biggest blogs.

    1. Yep that’s true. You have to find a blog that has much more higher traffic than you to guest blog for.

Also new bloggers who has little or no traffic has asked me to guest post on their blog. This wouldn’t make any sense because no one would benefit from that article. They should be the person who is to participate in guest blogging to get traffic.

      Thanks for the comment Paul.

  11. nice article and that really true from guest blogging even i have saw daramatically increase in my web traffic and to do guest blog you have to be more creative and more good. but have to still work on social media i m bad in social media sharing 🙁

    1. Thanks for the comment Rohit. You need to get started on being more social man. You’re wasting traffic there.

Thanks for the comment and keep on guest blogging.

  12. Great article. Interesting read. I really like the last point about video blogging. Not only is it a great way to get activity. It is also a great way to learn tricks and help other onliners.

    thanks

    sean

  13. A lot of great tips here, I definitely learned some new things that I need to try in order to boost the amount of traffic coming to my website/blog. Thanks for sharing that information, it is much appreciated.

  14. My three favourite methods are:

    1. Blog commenting
    2. Facebook & Twitter
    3. Forum posting

I don’t do forum posting very often and I always wonder why because if I do something like 10 posts a day for a month on Digiral Point then I’ll bring in a good few thousand visits.

    1. Thanks for the comment Dean. The same is with me, I hardly do forum posting because of my tight schedule. But as soon as I get more time on my hand then I will be doing so.

Thanks again pal for sharing your thought

  15. Those are some really great tips!

My personal favorite is guest posting and social network. These method’s are extremely effective in my book. I’ve havn’t had the chance to participate in forum’s yet, but i will give it a try. Thanks!

  16. Great Post Kharim

My favorite source for getting traffic is Social media sites commenting, forum posting and Social bookmarking also support me but I mainly get traffic from social media sites.

  17. Yes, these are indeed some great tips on getting more traffic, but we should make sure to find the right balance: you could end up spending more time on trying to bring traffic to your blog than writing content and that is not a smart move. Forums can be pretty deceiving here – I often found myself losing many hours on forums and I had to stop using them as they were actually beginning to get counter-productive.

  18. I have seen that if you keeps your updated, you will get good traffic to your Blog. So I think we should keep on updating our blog regularly so as to get good traffic to our blog.

  19. Write regular and quality content and try to help people. Those who find your article will recommend others to visit your website and you will get more direct traffic.

  20. Hi Kharim,

A very thorough post – I like the way you’ve laid it out.

Something that resonated with me is to write about topics for your audience, your niche. In the past week or so, I came across a couple of podcasts where they spent a good 20-30% of the podcast talking about themselves. While it’s always good to add a little bit about yourself to engage with your audience, I find it a little off putting when it takes so much of the content, and worse, it is not relevant.

A great article with lots of useful information – I will need to come back and digest it slowly 🙂

    Dee

    1. Hey Dee,

In order for you to get good response from your audience then what you write about or podcast about then you have to make sure to include your readers in it. If it is just about yourself then your readers will soon get turned off and think that you are all of self.

Write with your readers in mind and blog for them.

      Thanks for the comment 😀

  21. Thank you for these traffic flow tips. I don’t have a plan in place, however, once my upcoming blogging book is complete, I will use all of these tips in my traffic generation plan.

  22. Firstly these are fantastic tips, I agree with you regarding a massive burst of traffic from a post, what i would suggest is if a burst of traffic is coming though then you need to capitalize on it, make sure that the post that is getting all the traffic has links to other posts that the reader maybe interested in this would then get the users and visitors going to other pages I would also suggest writing more content regarding that niche, a more ‘supply on demand’ type way of writing content, if you know lots of users are coming for content regarding a certain subject then write more about this subject

    1. Yep that’s true. You have to also remember your opt-in forms. You want these visitors to subscribe to your blog so you can get them to come back as well, via rss or news letters.

      Thanks for the comment.

  23. Yeah Great Post. I have tried Commenting and Guest post is still in progress. Thank you for share and Specially your way of writing is really good.!

  24. This is a great article and so very true. Content alone will not bring people to your site just like having a great product for sale won’t drive people in. You need to market it and marketing is what I believe to be the biggest part of blogging.

    1. Marketing is something that new bloggers would often forget to do after they start posting. That is the reason why guest posting and blog commenting is so important. Thanks for the comment Steven.

  25. Great post, we must be creative and participate in blog commenting and many forum discussions. And using steroids is not good for your health 🙂
    thanks for sharing.

      1. Hehe, I know, it’s just funny way to engage little bit different with comments and you (the writer) 🙂
        great post really

  26. I created quite a bit of traffic to my site through writing on 2.0 sites. The biggest thing which helped me was learning how to properly tag articles to get more web exposure.
After reading this I’m going to do more in the way of forums. I get a bit lost in that environment, but I suppose it’s time to beef it up.
    Great tips! Thanks.

  27. yes, for increasing traffic we will have to write regularly and guest posting is one of most great way for it……..

  28. I remember, all those years ago, when I first started blogging with not much to say and when I developed in to an “every day” blogger, my traffic certainly increased, same with guest posting it brings readers to my blog from my guest posts.

Though I do have to say that if you are going to Guest Post “like you’re on steroids” you do have to watch out for the dreaded “blogger block”!

    1. Hey there Karen, thanks for your comment and sharing your experience.

Guest posting brought me lots of traffic and that’s why I love it. I get exposed to lots of new traffic and also backlinks.

      Thanks again 🙂

  29. I don’t care what people say, there’s a lot of hard work in blogging. If you don’t keep a schedule, it’s hard to make it in the business.

    1. Yes blogging is hard, but not all the time. That’s if you make it challenging. All you have to do is find the time and put in the extra work and it will seem like child’s play.

  30. recently i was started the blog commenting and guest posts and now i m getting a lot of traffic from search engine and social media. 🙂

  31. There are some people who say that writing good content on a regular basis is enough to drive in search engine traffic. Nevertheless, I’ve learnt that we should use several techniques to maximize the results. Therefore, I usually like to comment on other blogs and to do guest posting. In the future, I hope I’ll have enough time to join several forums and to share my expertise with others.

    1. In order to get search engine traffic you have to use keywords that you want to target and optimize your article for that keyword. You have to also build lots of backlinks in order to rank well in search engine results.

      Thanks for the comment.

  32. Hi Kharim,
Basically I do blog commenting and proper use of social media to generate taffic and I am successful in this process.

  33. Kimberly Gauthier, Adventures in Blogging

This is probably one of the best posts I’ve read about increasing blog traffic. You’ve covered everything that I’ve learned and they all work.

Forums can seem very intimidating, because people have and share strong opinions. But they’re a great place to make connections, learn new things, and to gain inspiration.

    Kimberly

  34. Very well said Kharim. I couldn’t agree more, these are really great tips especially to those who are new to blogging (which includes me). I will absolutely try them out and I will take note of them so that I can use them appropriately.

  35. Hi Can you please share more information about how to get traffic from social media sites because this method is not working for me well..

  36. Great post. I have noticed that if my activity on my blog drops so does the traffic to my website. The key is consistency and quality.

  37. All your suggestion are fruitful,………… moreover social media backlinks are best for me due to unique traffic which cause to sharp improve the Alexa of my site too. Hope in the next PR update, the PR of my site sure increase.

    1. Thanks for the comment. I am not too concerned with PR. When I started blogging I have a PR of 1, then it when to PR2 and my traffic went up, then my PR went to 3 where it is now and my traffic has been at it’s highest now.

PR isn’t something that bothers me, but building up my traffic is my only concern 🙂 and I know I have to put out the work to do that.

  38. Hi
I launched my blog 7 months ago and in March I had over 8000 visitors with unique traffic up 60% on Feb. It is my views on Life, Love and Relationships to help others. Basically I went through a very tough time and I am sharing my experiences and it is now in the top 500k websites in the world.

I do some of the things you say but I don’t guest post. I also tend to update it twice a month but my articles take time to prepare and I believe in quality over quantity. Despite my traffic though I get few comments.

Hope you have had a good day.
    Kind regards
    Isaac Sarayiah

    1. That’s wonderful of you to be in the top 500k. I have my site for little over 2 years now and I am in the top 86 (currently) and getting better each day.

I recommend that you update regular so as to get more and keep traffic coming in at all times.

      Thanks for the comment.

  39. Hi Kharim, great post. According to your tips i am doing everything i should be doing to gain traffic to my site . But the comments are not there to prove it is working. The stats are showing the traffic but people are not commenting.

    1. Hey Sarah, I have been going through your blog and I kinda notice a few things why people wouldn’t comment. It’s too much to list here so if possible you can email me and I will tell you how you can change that.

Contact me at my blog and then email me from there.

  40. I will follow blog comment, forums discussion, profile links etc. for traffic increase. thanks for sharing this post.

  41. its a great post. you give a nice explanation on how to gain more traffic on a site.
its also true that social media and social networking sites can help you to build up your blog traffic more if you use it wisely. i think i need to try forum discussions and video blogging to gain more traffic on our site.

hope to read more useful tips again from you.

    1. Social media and networking sites are always full of people who are looking for information in your niche. You just have to find these people and share your information with them.

      Thanks for the comment.

  42. Great article. I completely agree with you about the forum discussion, however on a couple of my blogs, they are so niche that people have yet to use forums. I have thought about starting my own but am worried that it would not work. Any resources on finding great forums? Some type of forum directory or something.

    1. In order to start a forum its best to have a website first and then build up traffic to it, after that you can launch a forum. If you launch a forum from start then it is hard to get people to sign up because it will be empty.

But you can also launch a new forum and then advertise it to make it successful. It all depends on how you approach the situation.

  43. I have used many tricks from your given information. I post new blog topic regularly and then daily check all comments by other users who have posted on my blog. Many times, I share my blog link on popular social media sites and many other blogs. I know that it is important to post comments on other blogs to get traffic on blog.

  44. I would say, nowadays for achieving good traffic everyone is teaching those general old school SEO tactics, but this is something really very different.
One more thing I would like to say is one should not put all his eggs in same basket. Link diversity is certainly the key, as far as Google is concerned.
Thanks for bringing these effective methods to the forefront of our attention.

  45. Traffic is very important for the success of a blog, this are some great tips that are very helpful. This days a lot of people are using the SEO more and more to get traffic and I think this is not very good. Google is changing the game very often and it become hard to keep up.

The tips on this site for sure it will help a lot of bloggers to have healthy traffic to their blogs.

    1. Yep Google has changed it all around and if a person only depends on SEO then that blog will suffer when Google strikes back.

      Thanks for the comment.

  46. After reading all the comments, one of the earlier ones from Rick about onlywire, i looked into it and found there is a plugin for those with wordpress sites that can make the process even easier, i cant comment if i found it easy, as i have yet too set it up, but it might be worth looking into for those not familiar with it.

  47. Question, what’s guest posting? Is that what I am doing here?

I am new to blogging. I am going to post my blog Monday morning and get this going.
I love chatting and writing content and I’ll see how really productive I can be. I enjoy this blog your doing and I found you via Lisa and YouTube. Sure glad I ran into her on YouTube. Lisa sure has excitement and spirit in her delivery. Makes her a really a lovable person. I’ve got some real go information by watching her videos. Thanks again for this form, Jim

    1. Guest posting is when you write articles for another blog, you appear on their blog as a guest to post. What you are doing is blog commenting.

If you ever need help with your blog then please feel free to contact me.

  48. Kharim,

Fantastic and exceptionally detailed post! I can tell you really put your heart into this.

The truth is that there are so many ways that we may apply ourselves to see traffic surges on our blogs if we just take the time to execute a plan of action. I have found that in more cases than not, this is the sole reason why people are not seeing the results they want to see. – They’re taking a cavalier approach to execution!

Blog commenting was one of the biggest surprises for me in terms of generating quality traffic to my blog and developing a readerbase. I had no idea how powerful it was going to be for me to just do a good job connecting with others on their blogs and then making them love me for sharing their content with my readers. It’s proven to be an exceptional means to making great friends and inspiring trust in the masses!

I would like to mention that it’s very helpful to especially pay close attention to commenting with professionalism where social enticements are given, most specifically on blogs hosting the CommentLuv plugin! What a great way to showcase ourselves and drive some eyeballs back over to our own home on the web with a generous link!

Thanks for the superb article here, Kharim!

    Best regards,
    Cat Alexandra
    Alexandra Marketing Group

    1. Thanks for the comment Cat! Blog commenting has been a life saver for me and my blog when it comes to generating targeted traffic to my blog.

This is also a great method to build backlinks, gain exposure to many new things. I have gotten many guest bloggers on my blog because of blog commenting and affiliate sales as well.

Thanks again and have a wonderful day 🙂

  49. havent really done much blogging which is a real shame. problem is my grammar isnt great and i usually have to get most of my content outsourced which is a real pain. Love the article Kharim, keep it up bro.

    thx

  50. Forum discussions definitely plays an important part. I realised this recently. I didn’t really understand about this method till when I joined a forum I was interested in. I realised that the forum was sending me some traffic. I thought, this is great. Also as mentioned by you bio is important as it makes it more personal and we humans like knowing about other people. Brilliant article Kharim.

    1. Thanks for your input on my article.

Forums are a great source of traffic and I can say that I have gotten lots of traffic to my blog through forum posting.

  51. Not every blog owner responds to comments, but when I leave a comment on a blog, I always try to say something that would initiate or continue a discussion.

    1. I think it is wise to reply to comments left on your blog or your guest posts. This helps to build a relationship between you and your commentator and also helps to build backlinks.

Thanks for the comment and sorry for the late reply 🙂

  52. Hey Kharim,

Very nice post. You covered almost all aspects. I think, it’s Forums where I’m lacking. A few days back I started to work on Videos as well. So, I’m heading for forums of my niche.

    Thanks for the reminder.

    1. Thanks for the comment Abhi.

I am yet to start my video blogging again, but will start very soon though, been busy with a few things. As for forums, I have slow down a bit but pick it up back again once I get some load off my hands.

      Thanks again pal.

  53. Irfan Siddiqui

A killer article Kharim, I enjoyed reading your words.

Seems like haven’t tried Video Blogging to get targeted traffic yet. But… I wish I could have the talent of video blogging like Illeane has… but still I can make tutorials on computing tips and tricks – like what I do in my blog. This will give me good traffic to my blog.

Nice tips Kharim, I can tell everyone that this article is written by my buddy kharim. lol

    1. Thanks buddy… I still haven’t settled down to start my video blogging as yet… but I will start soon.

Tutorial videos gets lots of traffic as well. Now that my blog is growing each day I think its best to start so I can capture more visitors.

      Thanks for the comment Irfan.

    1. If you apply these tips then traffic will come your way. My blog has grown for the past month because of what I am doing, this is what I wrote in this article.

Try it and you will have more traffic in time.

  54. I love reading your articles, Kharim. They are easy to understand and have tons of great tips for a newbies like myself. Thank you so much Kharim. And have a great day!

  55. Hi Kharim,

Your posts are really helpful. I like it and I find your tips worth reading. But Traffic only comes to your blog if you have what it take to be, i.e. remarkable content.

Your tips are great. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  56. Awesome post …

I always make resolutions for regular guest blogging but due to busy schedule, I hardly find time for writing on my own blog.

    1. I know what you mean man. It has happened to me lots of times, but still have to find a little time to do guest blogging.

Thanks for the comment as well Salman.

  57. Excellent tips! There are many good ways to increase blog traffic, but as bloggers there is a lot of other things that needs to be done. There is not simply time to do everything so we need to choose the best strategies.Personally, I do blog commenting and guest posting. I visit forums (Warrior Forum) once in a while to search for information and get fresh ideas for blog posts.

  58. I agree with most of what you are saying, but from my experience the most important thing is quality content and regular posting, the rest takes backseat. Over the years Google has developed a very smart algorithm that rewards content providers that provide new contents often and which are of high quality. If you analyze your Google analytics it’s easy to see if your readers are engaged in the contents you provide. So start with quality contents and start getting rewarded by Google, then branch out into forum, guest posting, and other methods of increasing your traffic.

    1. Yep!

Search engines are now smarter than ever and will continue to get smarter. So we have to publish unique articles and not duplicate contents from other blogs.

      Thanks for the comment Sam.

  59. You did a great job on this article. I have started paying close attention to the terms people are finding my blog. I get article ideas and I get to figure out the questions my readers are asking.

  60. Some great tips there.
I think the most important lesson is that blooging takes time.
I also like the idea of networking with other bloggers.
    Thank you Kharim.

    1. Yes blogging does take a lot of time, but it will be worth it in the end.

If you have a passion for blogging then it won’t be much work.

      Thanks for the comment.

  61. Simply I love the article but when it comes to forum discussion I disagree because now forum discussion has been greatly replaced by Groups so when must not include it even as source of traffic. In many cases it is good if the forum is allowing you to post links of your articles instead of writing the answers as it will be helpful for SEO otherwise NO and these newbies and pro-bloggers don;t visit forums that often. Blog Tutorials and Facebook communities are enough.

    1. Forums still work for me.

I haven’t been active on forums for a few months now and I am still getting traffic from old posts that I had made.

So if I was still active on those forums then I would be getting lots more traffic.

Thanks for the input on my article.

  62. Thanks alot for the solid tips on getting traffic.
I am prefer on getting traffic on Organic basis, which is coming like wave.
I am also eager to know more about getting traffic on FORUM.
I am thinking of open a forum for my vegan blog, a discussion room for all vegan and vegetarian friends.

  63. Although I depend a lot on good organic SEO for traffic, all of these are good tips. I particularly suggest trying the video blogging if you do “how to” blogging. While YouTube seems daunting at first, remember that it’s the third biggest search engine in the world.

Every business needs a Customer Acquisition Strategy, and so does every blog/website. Kharim just offered us a whole menu of choices – make sure you’re putting at least a couple of them into practice regularly!

    1. Hey Karilee,

I have been thinking about YouTube video blogging and then embedding them on my blog, but I haven’t got to it as yet.

      I must be camera shy.

But I am going to brave up and do it soon.

      Thanks for the comment.

  64. Our blog is rather new and focused for our offline business, but you have given food for thought and some great idea’s for us to help grow our potential customer base. I Really like the idea on focused/niche forum participation. Social media platforms etc was a given and the first thing we’ve done, as well as blog commenting. Just need to find some forums geared to our business now 🙂

  65. Nice post Kharim. I want to discuss on the participation in forums.

I think if you are going to promote your blog in forum so it takes much time as you can not post your links in forums as it is marked as spam; so in forums you has to be interactive all the time helping others issues first and then giving your links/ posts where it needs.

I think In comparison to it if we emphasize on guest posting or commenting so it can get good results in less time with less efforts. This is what I experienced. What you think about this????

    Thank for the post.

    1. Hey Adil,

Yes I fully agree with your comment.

Forum posting does take lots of time if you want to build traffic because posting links can be classed as spam.

But be sure to know that regular posting will help people to realize who you are and leaving a link to your blog in your forum signature will help greatly.

But hands down, guest posting is the best way to go.

      Thanks for the comment.

  66. If someone want traffic in their blog or website then he or she should do SEO for that site or blog because if you ignore SEO totally then you no gain traffic. For example, Problogger earned $5000 per month, how? because they are doing SEO for their site that’s why they are earning more.

  67. Worth the longer read than many blog posts, including most of my own.

Question – I noticed the original posting of this was back a few months. How often and what is the best time frame to recycle some better posts?

    Thanks for the valuable ideas.

    1. Hi Patricia,

      I’ll answer this one.

Because I have a lot of content here on Basic Blog Tips, I tend to check my stats in Google Analytics frequently. I also compare that with searches that I see in Google Webmaster tools.

When I see an older post is performing well I will check it and make sure the information is “evergreen” before I start a new round of Tweets.

The other alternative that many bloggers use is a plugin called Tweet Old Post (or something similar) and I used to use it also. But I found that some of posts would have outdated information which is why I go through the manual process instead.

If you want more information, check out the post link in CommentLuv.

      Thanks!

  68. Its a sad thing that even after following all this things i dont get traffic to my tech blog full of quality content.
I feel frustrated all the time.
No idea what to do. Whether to continue with my blog 🙁

  69. All these information posted above are helpful and informative but the fact remains same . In blogger the traffic flow is slow . Even though i like to stick with the information given above
