Your blog is up and running and you've started promoting it on Twitter. Now you're getting yourself a nice healthy sized group of followers and ready to move ahead. The next step for you is to move past using the (boring) Twitter website and expand your Twitter savvy. You need to find an easy-to-use Twitter client.
HootSuite is a free online Twitter application that you must try. Unlike the more widely used service TweetDeck, you don't need to download any software and HootSuite automatically generates tracking statistics for the links you create with the built in ow.ly link shortener.
If you have an iPhone don't worry, they have an app for that! HootSuite for iPhone is available. On the plugins page you'll find extensions for Chrome and Firefox and you can grab a Hootlet too. Let me know what you think after you watch my screencast introduction to using HootSuite.
Have you tried using the HootSuite Twitter client yet? Are you following me on Twitter yet?

I have tried Tweet Deck in the past but have not tried HootSuite yet. Believe it or not, I still use the old boring Twitter interface.
I do find that hard to believe. HA! Come on over to HootSuite land you’ll never go back. Thanks for stopping by Dan.
Hi Ileane! Another great easy-to-understand video – and about to be added to whatawebsitevideo ( as usual!). Hope it helps a little. Best wishes, Will

I pop back and forth between HootSuite and Tweetdeck these days and the new updates on HootSuite are quite interesting 😉

Hi Karen, Another reason I prefer HootSuite over TweekDeck is that HootSuite seems to update more frequently. There are so many features now, I’m realizing that I forgot to cover them all in the video. Looks like a part 2 might be in the works soon. Thanks for commenting.

Hi Ilene,
I’m glad I found your blog via Kiesha, because I want to learn more about podcasting. Looks like you’re an answer to my prayers.
I just switched to Hootsuite and I found your Tutorial very helpful. I think I will like Hootsuite a lot better than Tweetdeck. I didn’t know how the stats button worked, but you explained it perfectly.
Take care!

give the HootSuite a try.Thanks.
Great video! I have been wanting to try out HootSuite and love seeing it in action. This is moving up to a priority on my to-do list. 🙂

I joined this mob several days ago and I’m still waiting for a confirmation email which I’ve submitted 3 or for times. I’ve even tweeted my problem and nothing 🙁
Hey Sire, are you talking about HootSuite? Can’t you sign in with your Twitter credentials?
I finally got done with my own HootSuite Video Tutorial and just posted today on my blog. HootSuite is my favorite Twitter client.

Jan Geronimo first twisted my arm into using Hootsuite. I was feeling cranky at the time and kind of burnt out on trying all the new “stuff” out there. I had a few cups of coffee, reminded myself that Jan had never led me astray (well, “never” might be too strong a word), and tried Hootsuite. Now I can’t imagine Twitter without it. When I log into the regular Twitter interface, it seems simplistic and naked.

Hi Holly, thanks for your comments. You’re always welcome here.
Well, Ileane, I finally made the switch to HootSuite. It’s all your fault, too! LOL
Thanks for sharing so much information, including this video.
Cheers,
Mitch
Hi Mitch, how have you been??? Is Tweetdeck causing you problems? What’s the reason for the switch to HootSuite? Hope you like it.
Hi Ileane,
The main reason I switched has to do with the idea of “downloading” transient information to my hard drive. After all, if it’s available on someone else’s server, why duplicate it? I switched from Thunderbird email to Gmail for a similar reason. I know there is a big difference in permanence between tweets and email, but I’ll take my chances in the cloud.
Performance-wise, I may be giving TweetDeck short shrift; however, I just wasn’t seeing all of the tweets that were showing up on the Twitter.com home page.
I hope I like HootSuite, too, since I made a unilateral decision to uninstall TweetDeck! LOL
Cheers,
Mitch
Last year, Twitter made status updates no-follow so you don’t get link juice from links you post in your status. However, I have heard that some applications that are used to post to Twitter have proven a way around this. Can I get a do-follow link when posting with HootSuite. If so, is the link as strong? Twitter is a page rank 9 site and I want to make sure it is being profitable to post links through an app.
When I log into the regular Twitter interface, it seems simplistic and naked.
I am a regular user of TweetDeck too. I like it much but now I guess its time to switch to HootSuite now. Thanks for sharing the info. I will definitely try it out. And great video 🙂
Well, Ileane, I finally made the switch to HootSuite
Good for you Alex. HootSuite is going to help you see Twitter in a different light. Plus HootSuite has so many fantastic apps and add-ons!
