What Changed My Mind About Triberr and Turned Me Into an Advocate

Dino Dogan and Dan Cristo have crafted what just might be the perfect social sharing community on Triberr.  That says a lot coming from a self-proclaimed Social Media Diva like myself.

I'm not going to go into a lot about why I didn't embrace Triberr when they first launched the site back in 2011 because that's old news and honestly – who cares about that. It's water under the bridge and this isn't about about the history of Triberr and how it has developed into the killer social media app that it is today.

But, here's what I do want to talk about.

I want us to explore the state of Triberr as it stands today, and how can it benefit you as a blogger, podcaster, and content marketer.Marketing and Social Media Tribe

What Made Me Try Triberr Again

Initially I was prompted to revisit Triberr when I received an invitation from Robert Tyson to join his Marketing and Social Media Tribe. I was a little reluctant at first but the words “Social Media” jumped out at me so I decided to mosey over to the site and see who else was in the tribe. I was also curious to see if there were any predominant updates to the old interface.

The thing that caught my attention right away was that lots of people are following the tribe but only a handful are actually members. This means that the content of the tribe's members appears in the home stream of all the followers but the follower's content doesn't necessarily appear in the member's home stream.

Right away I thought to myself, “brilliant, I'd better accept the invitation and join this tribe asap“.

I was also influenced in part by my buddy, and well known Triberr-mate, Ryan Biddulph in his post 9 Reasons Why You Need To Join Triberr. Ryan is such a great writer and one of the top guest authors here on Basic Blog Tips so I've learned over the years to pay careful attention whenever he endorses a product or service.

Even so, I'm still amazed to see the power of Triberr in action right before my eyes. I had no idea I could grow such a powerful tribe and expand my reach in such a short period of time.

In less than 2 months of activity on Triberr, I currently have a reach of over 4 million across 9 tribes.

Triberr reach 4 million

That's simply incredible considering the short amount of time I have invested in the platform. Talk about ROI!

At this rate I'll predict that if I apply myself and join more tribes, by the end of the year that reach could surpass the 10 million mark. As long as you are publishing valuable content on your blog, you can get the same kind of exposure once you start using the platform and joining some key tribes.

Triberr Sharing Stands out on HootSuite

In Ryan's article he talked about connecting with influencers and I must admit, this is my favorite part of being on Triberr.

Let me explain.

When it comes to using Twitter, I'm rarely on the Twitter website. I do most of my Tweeting from Buffer or HootSuite. Most of the time I'm monitoring the activity being shared by people in my Twitter lists which I added to columns in HootSuite. I'll check the stream for my Podcasters list, or I look at Tweets that contain searches that I saved for hashtags like #measure or #toolschat, etc.

For those of you who don't use HootSuite, there is a really cool feature that might come as a surprise to you. When you're checking your streams via the HootSuite interface, you get the ability to see exactly where Tweets originate. For example: in the screenshot below, notice how “Triberr” is the sharing mechanism listed right next to the time stamp. I see it a lot, don't you?

Triberr Sharing on HootSuite

Strategic Networking with my Tribe

I have some tips to share with you in the video and you'll also get a behind the scenes look at the Triberr interface. Watch How To Reach Millions of People on Twitter with Triberr

Special Perks for My Tribe Members

I like to do a little something extra for the members of Ms. Ileane's Blogging Tribe. For example, I will share their content on other social bookmarking sites like Inbound.org. Or perhaps I will add a Tweet to JustRetweet so they can get extra social shares. Another way tip that I can share for other tribe owners is to create a Twitter list for your tribe. Here's a link to the list of my tribe and I encourage you to follow us and add the list to a stream in HootSuite or Tweetdeck.

Have you thought about joining Triberr? Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.

TRIBERR VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

Hey guys It's Ileane from Basic Blog Tips. Today I want to share with you how you can get your content to reach millions of people on Twitter by using Triberr!

Here we are over on Triberr and this is a tribe I established called Ileane Smith's Blogging Tribe, what else. Notice that the tribe has 51 members 1 follower and a REACH of over one million. And I'm really impressed by this number because I just started really being active on Triberr in about the last two to three months. So I think it's phenomenal that I've been able to build a tribe with the reach that's over one million users on Twitter in that short period of time.

Join Triberr the Social Sharing Hub for Bloggers via @BasicBlogTips

Now let's take a look at some of the members of the Tribe. What you'll see that I really like about Triberr is that you get sort of a “report card”on the activities of the people in the tribe, and let's you know how long it's been since they visited, how long it's been since they've shared something.

So that way if you reach your limit of the maximum people that you can have on the tribe, and right now the limit for me is fifty because I have a Prime membership with Triberr. Then if you find that there's someone who hasn't been active, who hasn't been around – and if there's someone who sent you a request to be on the tribe then you can remove that person, and replace them with someone that's active.

One of the things that I like to do on Triberr is find tribes – not just my own – but other tribes that have a diversity. It's okay to have some tribes that are just focused on social media or like mine's is focused on blogging, but also to add some maybe some tech articles in there. Maybe some people that post articles for Mommy bloggers or just a little bit of diversity so that it just breaks up the monotony. You don't really want people tripping over each other constantly writing and posting and sharing the same type of content all the time. You want a little diversity in your tribe.

So that's one the tips that I have for Triberr.

Now over in the activity stream of the tribe. This is where you can easily see in order to share something you just simply hover your mouse over it and it will share it. You can set up your account to share things at certain intervals. Whatever you choose!

You don't have to automatically share someone's content, but if you want to you can. For example here's Michele Welch she always puts out fantastic content. She does videos, she's always on top of all of her game. So I am going to choose to “auto share” Michele's content and it's as simple as that.

And one last tip I want to share with you about Triberr and getting the Prime membership. This gives you the ability to have what's called an Atomic or Automatic tribe that people can follow your tribe and they will automatically share your content.

So get yourself an account with Triberr. Of course you sign in with Twitter and expand your reach on social media.

Do me a favor while you're over on YouTube be sure to subscribe to my channel.

Talk to you soon. Peace

  1. Hi Ileane,

    Oh yes…Triberr rocks!

Just like you, I’d also joined Triberr rather recently and the way it’s just widened my reach is commendable. 🙂

Earlier I used to join the tribes, but now the invites just keep coming in. As a result I’m part of nearly 47 tribes with a reach of 20 million! But you need to be careful about the kind of tribes you want to join and check all that they share. Some of them just don’t go with the type of content you share, while some might be rather inactive or with hardly any members. I do check all these things in addition to others before I join any tribe.

Creating my own tribes has been on my to-do list too, and I might just go ahead and do that one fine day- but until then, it’s all thanks to the tribes I’ve joined that things are working so well 🙂

I always love your videos and the ease with which you explain things SO well. It’s always a pleasure to watch and hear you, and of course, I am already a part of your awesome tribe 🙂

Thanks for sharing this informative post with us. Have a nice week ahead, whatever is left of it 🙂

    1. Hi Harleena!
You’re a fantastic writer so it’s no wonder you are getting tribal invites left and right! You were one of the first I wanted as a member of my clan so I was quite pleased that you accepted.

I’m glad that you have a strategy for joining tribes and it just goes to show that if people apply themselves they can expand their reach to the right audience.

Thanks so much for your feedback and your contribution is always appreciated.

  2. Ileane,
I can’t believe it took you that long to get onboard Triberr:) (I’m kidding with you) I LOVE Triberr! I use it on mobile too and share when I can. I am in so many tribes that I may trim some. I’ve been thinking of going Automatic but not sure with which account as I have one for my retail site’s blog. (That one is a little less active and maybe could use the boost? – your thoughts?)
I use Triberr now as my blog reader and it helps to find new bloggers almost daily. I can’t say enough about it Ileane. Dino is awesome with follow up whenever I’ve had questions. I don’t think he ever sleeps.
Good to know about the HootSuite stream too. I don’t use Hootsuite that much – mostly on mobile. Have a great day Ilene and a really good weekend ahead. Thanks for sharing these useful tidbits on Triberr.

    1. Hey Lisa!
I agree that Dino has done a tremendous job with Triberr. I love that he and Dan listened to their users and made adjustments to the platform at their request.
One of the things that I didn’t care for at first was the system of using and trading “bones”. I was thrilled to learn they ditched that aspect of the site. It didn’t really do much for branding IMO.

I’m really finding new blogger too Lisa. There’s even a Business Podcasters Tribe!! Woohoo!!

You have a great weekend to my dear. Thanks.

  3. I am not a Triberr user but after reading this post from you Ileane I feel to try out Triberr soon…I don’t think many good bloggers from India are using Triberr but definitely seeing the success people are getting because of Triberr most of the bloggers may get available there….

  4. Nice review Ileane, your video was very cool – nice job! Oh yea, I got an email from Triberr on your comment about Flo and the chainsaws haha! But when I went to reply your comment and a few other comments from yesterday were gone O.o It seems that there’s a time-limit on comments in the conversations tab in our Tribes? Or maybe my browser is acting strange…hmm…awesome review 🙂

    1. Hi Jesse!

I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I started working on it a few days ago but I wanted to keep is short and hit some key points about how awesome it is to be on Triberr.
      Thanks!!

  5. Hey Ileane! Like you, I am a recent Triberr convert. I currently have a reach of 5M across 12 tribes. So far so good, and I plan to get more active in the future. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and insight here. Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Tom,

I’m glad you’re a convert too. Guess I’m not the only one who didn’t jump on it right away. 🙂

You have a great weekend too.

  6. Thank you Ileane for being such an amazing Tribemate! Don’t forget the Mia Voss and I are talking to Dino Dogan of Triberr on Google Plus Hangouts at 12pm EST on The Mia Connect!

    1. Randy, I just wanted the hangout and you made my day! That was a good feeling to hear you say such nice things about me. You even got Dino to give me some praise. 🙂

Thanks so much for all you do!!

  7. Hi Ileane,
Nice video, I like all your videos anyways. One thing I like about Triberr is, they make it really easy to get updated with the latest content from some amazing and active bloggers around. I currently have a reach of 6M and looking forward to expand it further.

    1. Dhiraj, I hope you got a chance to give the video a thumbs up! I’m glad to hear that you are enjoying my YouTube channel – and my tribe too!

  8. Hi Ileane,

Thanks for sharing this! I joinedd Triberr not long ago and the traffic there is good. I wasn’t on prime and for a free account, it is rather cool indeed. Until date, I still advise others to join Triberr as many people are already using it. Both business and leisure alike.

For starters, it could be a little ‘ghost town’ until you really join some tribes 🙂

Just my 2 cents and have a great weekend!

    Reginald

    1. Reginald,
Glad to hear about your success with Triberr. You’re right – finding the right tribes to join is super important to getting traffic and more social shares.
      Thanks!

  9. Hi Ileane,

I actually just joined Triberr about a week ago. Still trying to find my way around but so far I like what I see.

I joined because so many people were talking about how much they loved it. So I figured why not. Thanks for sharing this post makes me feel like I made the right decision to jump on board…just wish I would’ve jumped on board sooner.

    Have a great day.

    1. Susan,

At first I had some questions about how things work on Triberr and my friends Kim Castleberry and Adrienne Smith gave me a hand. If you have questions, just get in touch with me and I’ll hook you up!

  10. Harleen am jealous that you are almost always the first to comment. Great article Ileane. I used to use triberr but didn’t get a full hang of how it works.

This your article has however given me a reason to go back to Triberr to steal the traffic juice you’ve been getting for yourself.

    1. That’s funny!

First you want to steal Harleena’s commenting skills then you want to steal my “traffic juice”.

Honestly -I hope you are just joking but if you’re not I need to say this:

Turn your focus on building relationships and not so much on competing with your fellow bloggers. Keep working on your content too – and when you leave comments on popular blogs you want to add value and not sound so negative.

I’m only telling you this to help you because I care. I have seen lots of bloggers who focus on competing with folks like myself and Harleena – I mean I see them come and go……mostly go.

  11. Hello Ileane,

Nice review you did on triberr and it was sure understandable :).
When i started blogging newly, i joined triberr but didn’t get the hang of things. I stopped going there till i read a review done by Wade on traberr and a video on how to use it properly. Now i am a full member of the tribe and i am using it to its advantage, but i do hope to learn more and join some more important tribe as time progresses.

Thanks for this lovely post and do have a wonderful weekend 🙂

  12. nice article i never know about the triberr website. i definitely try this. i hope it will also helpful with me thanks for sharing.

  13. Yeah triberr is really an awesome platform to reach out new readers. I joined it recently and im gonna check it completely and join the tribes

    thanks

  14. Hey Ileane,

I was critical of Triberr in the beginning (although I still used it for the first few months). I definitely prefer it now. The auto-approve setting was a bit crazy in the early days, but the current setup is a lot better.

Despite being happier to approve things one by one, at the moment I’m approving 100% of the posts in my tribe! Such is the quality of posts being shared 😀

    1. Ben,

I totally agree! One of the things I didn’t like about the first iteration of Triberr was the auto-approve sharing of tribemates. I sure wish I would have known sooner that the option was changed a while ago. Oh well! Better late than never right?

      Thanks for stopping by Ben.

  15. Hi Ileane,

I’ve only just joined Triberr myself and haven’t really spent time to find my way around there properly yet, but after reading your post I’m definitely going to devote some time to start using it properly.

    Thank you for sharing.

    Laura

  16. Hi Ileane, First, thank you for the invite. 🙂 I’ve been a Triberr member for a while and it’s definitely worth the little bit of time it takes. I don’t take advantage of everything available there, like interacting and joining in on the conversations as often as I should but I’ve found some great bloggers there.

    1. Hi Brian!

I think there a lot of aspects of Triberr that we bloggers can benefit from. Like the Bonfires area. I admit I haven’t spent much time there either but I see the potential.

I didn’t even touch on campaigns yet, but I know that this going to be huge in the coming months. More brands will be getting on board and that’s going to be great for us to tap into.

      Thanks Tribemate!!

  17. Thanks alot for this awsome post! I did’nt know about triberr before. I am going to join it right now.. Once again thank you for this post.

    Regards,
    Luqman

  18. Hi Ileane !
Like you , i was confused whether to join triberr or not . After reading the benefits of tribber on one of the blog , i explored tribber for half an hour and started using it . Triberr works very well … i brings traffic to my blog . Thanks for sharing the information.

    -Pramod

    1. Hi Pramod,

I know you can find some great tribes to join. Just do a search for your keywords and you’ll find some good ones in no time.

  19. What a wonderful easy to follow highlight of Triberr. I just joined your tribe and look very forward to participating. Triberr is a great opportunity for networking, learning and sharing quality resourceful information. My draft blog post on this very subject is shelved, again you read my mind and I’m so glad you did.

    1. Hey Maria!

If you do decide to publish your post on Triberr feel free to embed my YouTube video. Here is the direct link so you can grab the embed code from YouTube (let me know if you need help doing that).
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWRePc_sB4A
There are so many aspects of Triberr you can cover – in fact I plan on talking about it on a podcast episode soon with a completely different angle.

Thanks for being part of the tribe Maria. Have a wonderful weekend.

  20. Great post and video, Ileane.

You made some really great points about Triberr. When I first discovered Triberr, I didn’t really see how it could benefit me but you’ve certainly helped me see the true value in it. I had a inkling that the potential was there, I just needed someone to really show it to me in a way that I could understand and you did! And I’m very happy to be apart of your tribe and the Triberr community.

    Thanks for everything! 🙂

    Ti

    1. Ti, Triberr is the perfect platform for bloggers like you and me. We both like to comment and engage with others. We also like to explore and meet people and Triberr helps us because they have filtered out the noise and moderated most of the junk.

Glad you are part of the Tribe and I also have another Tribe to invite you to. This one is for YouTubers! So get your YouTube feed ready (don’t worry, I’ll show you how to do it).

  21. Looks like I am the only who don’t use it. Although I am on it, I find the place extremely boring. Perhaps I don’t know how to use it properly.

    1. Shalu,

Sorry for the late reply. I think you must have joined Triberr right after leaving this message.

What are your thoughts so far?

  22. After reading on Adrienne Smith’s website, I joined Triberr, but haven’t made any real effort at working it yet. I’m still lurking and trying to decide what to do. I have also joined Hootsuite!
Your article has definitely motivated me to get on over there and see what all the excitement is about!
    Thanks for you encouragement!
    Karen Hoyt

  23. Hi Ileane,

You are right!!! Triberr is a best platform FOR BLOGGERS :-)!
I’m hearing about Triberr from you some days before. I’d also joined Triberr. It works well for me.

Thank you to share your views about Triberr.

    Regards,
    Abid Omar

  24. Hmmmm…interesting suggestions. I’ve been a bit curious recently about becoming a Triberr, so do you think it’s a more valuable tool than LinkedIn for networking. I saw that you have a massive network of at least 4 Million, which is beyond awesome!

  25. Hi Ileane, thanks for the mention, I’m honoured that I played a small role in getting you to reassess Triberr! For me it’s a complete must, the potential in what Dino and Dan have created is mind-blowing.

    1. You’re so right Robert. I think that any platform that reaches out to their users and incorporates their feedback are on the right path for success. Dino and Dan are certainly on their way.

  26. Nice video by the way, I have almost seen all tutorials. I am planning to join triberr certainly & your tips makes to much difference for me.so thanks for making my way easy

  27. Hi Ileane,

Admittedly, I was surprised to see you’ve given Triberr another go. Just goes to show, the 2nd time around can be so much better than the first! 🙂 On your recommendation, I’ll be sure to take another look.

    1. Hey Vernessa,
Dino and Dan have done something amazing over at Triberr. They listened to the feedback from their users and made changes and adapted the platform to suit their needs.

Most of the features you and I chatted about over a year ago are gone! (including “bones” which I felt “some type of way” about at the time.) haha! Only you will know what I mean on that one.

Great to see you visiting the internet, hope you come back again soon. 🙂

  28. Like you at first I wasn’t impressed by Triberr but once I started participating in it I found the value of being a member. I have met some excellent blogger’s from there with some exceptional blogs. I probably wouldn’t have ever found them if it wasn’t for Triberr. So, I am very happy to be a member. It just goes to show you not to be so haste, because if you don’t wait and see you could miss out. Thanks for sharing your insights with us about Triberr.

  29. Ileane, you are simply the most influential person in my circle. Remember when you talked me into joining BloggerLuv, HootSuite, JustTweetIt, etc? LOL

I am glad your efforts have paid off so well. I know that, if and when I re-enter the Social Media Arena, you’ll be there to point me in the right direction.

By the way, I love that caricature on your free report!

    Cheers,

    Mitch

    1. Hi Mitch,

BloggerLuv was an incredible community and even though the site is gone the relationships are carry on!

Thanks for all of your support over the last few years Mitch! You’re one in a million.

  30. I love Tribber very and I am great fan of it. This is one of the best and powerful platform for reaching large number of folks around the world. There are so many ways to leverage Triberr. and for those newbies who don’t understand it, here’s an easy tip. Don’t be in a rush to build out your tribes but look for tribes you would like to join and either follow or join them. Once you get used to the flow of the Triberr stream.. then start figuring out which bloggers you want in your tribe and build them out one at a time.

  31. Hello Ileane,

I never heard about triberr and because of this article im really excited to join on triberr and hopefully this social sites can increase my blog traffic and can i ask you something can you share the famous blogger triberr profile..Thanks and God Bless!!

  32. Very informative post Ileane. I actually want to go take another look at Triberr. I see many changes since I last visited there.

I was pretty quick on the Triberr bandwagon when it first came out, but like many others, found it confusing and too much effort in those early days. I gave up. There wasn’t a lot of documentation. I still can’t find some information via the Knowledge Base or the FAQs, so I put the questions to the Triberr forums and hope for some feedback.

    Two things really.

    1. Reblogging is kind of like scraping to me. Except I realize that other members are giving permission to reblog their content. However, I have concerns with duplicate content. Mine or theirs. While I see the value in sharing great content, I’m not convinced that reposting the entire article on your own site is ethical or even wise. What are your thoughts on this?

    2. I see you have two sets of comments here. Is that because Triberr only supports the default WordPress commenting system? I prefer Disqus for many of my blogs. I had asked if it was supported. I suppose the answer there is no?

As always Ileane, your content is insightful, informative and very timely.

  33. I used to use Triberr but stopped when I took a leave of absence from blogging. Now that I’m very much back in the game, I’m going to jump back on the Triberr train.
    🙂

  34. I’m a Triberr user,But didn’t use it regularly almost 10 months. Now i saw How Triberr help webmasters as a traffic booster and backlink builder. I will definitely try it out soon.

  35. We utilized to utilize Triberr yet quit when i took the abandon regarding lack through running a blog. Ever since I’m very much back in the action, I’m gonna leap rear on the Triberr train. thanks a lot for provide us informational post and useful also. 😀

  36. I have joined Triberr and have my Tax Tribe, but I have only scratched the surface as to how to use it and understand its value. This post really gave some pretty valuable insights, so thanks. I am encouraged to get more involved with Triberr as soon as I have a spare minute.
