Quick and Dirty Guide to Using a Google Analytics Custom Dashboard

I’m taking a big leap of faith by assuming Google Analytics is your preferred arena for tracking your website data. Most users would be accustomed to the standard reporting dashboard in Google Analytics. A well structured analytics dashboard will answer a few imminent questions so you can determine your site’s performance. I switched to using a Google Analytics Custom Dashboard to easily access the website data I require in a quick manner plus the ease of reproducing these reports is helpful.

The Ultimate Guide to Setting up Google Experiments for Your Blog

Ever want to try improving the conversion rate of your blog, but didn’t have the money to hire a designer, the time to figure it all out, or technical prowess to pull it off? Well, I’m happy to say those excuses are no longer valid ever since the Google Experiments feature was integrated into Google Analytics. If you’re not familiar with Google Experiments Lab already, it’s a program that allows you to serve different variations of your blog to different website visitors and measure the performance of those page variations against your goals (more email opt-ins, lower bounce rates) to see which version performs the best. Let me explain in simpler terms with a hypothetical example on how to setup Google Experiments.

Five Years with Feedly – Why I’m Not Worried about the Demise of Google Reader

When I first heard Google Reader was going, I was really upset. It wasn’t so much about reader itself, but about the possibility of losing the services that depend on it, like my Google Reader interface of choice – Feedly. As it turned out, there was no need to worry, because thanks to some behind the scenes tech wizardry involving cloning APIs, Feedly will still be around and working long after Google Reader is gone. I’ve been using Feedly for around five years and at this stage I can’t even remember how I found it – what I do know is that I love it.

7 Reasons You Should NOT Start a Podcast

Podcasting is not for everyone. Podcasting is long-format content marketing, which means the audience expects you to dive deeper into your area of expertise. Incapsula Review: Is It The Best Way To Make Your Blog Faster and Safer?

About a month ago, I saw Justin of Dragon Blogger talking on Facebook about a new service he was using called Incapsula. I decided to sign up (it’s free) and give Incapsula a try. The best way to visualize Incapsula is to think of it as the “middle man”. Incapsula sits between your server and your reader, so instead of your user’s computer asking your server to deliver your blog’s pages directly, it asks Incapsula and then Incapsula talks to your server. In addition to protecting your server, Incapsula also gets rid of some of the server load.

Blogger Interview: Dan Norris from Web Domination Launches Inform.ly

In 2006 Dan Norris started a web design company because he was bored with the corporate world (after 4 whole years!). He worked on that business for 6 years with a lot of ups and downs and in 2012 decided to sell it and move on to Inform.ly. While in his last business he built up his blog to a point where it was ranking number 1 in Australia for ‘website design’ and a lot of other big keywords and at that point he got a bit addicted to producing content.

Keep Google Chrome, Gmail and WiseStamp Up To Date

Google Chrome is by far one of the best browsers available on the internet and back in May of this year, Google Chrome edged out Internet Explorer to become the most widely used browser around. I especially think that all bloggers should use Google Chrome even if they only use it as a second browser. There are so many Chrome extensions that help us get our work done more efficiently and over the past 2 years I’ve heard from hundreds of bloggers who have left their beloved Firefox behind and ditched it for Google Chrome. What do you think about Google Chrome, have you installed it yet?
