40 SEO Tips from 3 Best SEO Minds – Infographic

What does SEO mean to someone who is NOT in the online industry? I asked someone and the answer was ‘Search for Engine Optimization’ in racing. (Think NASCAR or F1 here…)

This person was of course a big racing fan, as you can guess from the response. He was pretty close to the correct answer too.

Most people know Google, even my 5 year old daughter knows about it. One day she told me to check the weather and asked me to check Google.

Before I started blogging all I knew about SEO was it stands for Search Engine Optimization and it is a complex art of ranking your website higher in search results; that was it!

I knew some were making a handsome income doing SEO for their living; some good and some not so good. The thing about SEO is that you have to be careful whom you learn from as you don’t want to get caught in a sea of black hat SEO tricks.

Well, guess what; we have rounded up some out of the box SEO tips from the best SEO minds in the blogosphere. What about Neil Patel, Rand Fishkin and Brian Dean for an expert list?

  1. Hello Cent.

My name is Ben. Thanks for the summary. I am very new to the topic of SEO. So I didn’t understand some tips.
Can you help me with tip 33? Not all links are equal. What does that mean? Does that refer to Do-follow and no-follow links?

    Greetings,
    Ben

    1. Hi Ben,

You are spot on – it does refer to do-follow and no-follow links. Thanks for the question. You can always check out the original post which explains each point in detail.

      Cheers, Cent

    2. Hello Ben,

While I do agree with Cent on the answer he gave to your question, I believe it goes beyond no-follow or do-follow link.

When Rand Fishkin say “all links are not created equal” it means a lot of things among which are:

Some links due to their trust flow, SEO value, DA and PA, etc…. Will pass better and quality link juice to other pages than other links with less SEO value will do.

And might even earn your webpage a vote in Google’s eye assuming these links are from reputable website well trusted by Google.

Some links on the other hand, might get you in to Google penalty assuming these links are from questionable webpages. Website known to be publishing low quality tiny contents, involving in shading link schemes, (buying/selling of links), and all sort of black hat SEO tactics.

Even if these links comes from high DA or PA websites, it doesn’t matter. These types of links might not have much significant impact on your website search ranking value.

And some links too, will pass low SEO value but will drive you tons of referral traffic due to high traffic website you’ve got the links from.

So when going out to hunt for links, is essential you know exactly what you want from the links. Ask yourself these questions:

      Is it referral traffic?
      Search traffic?
      SEO value?
Brand name or Money keywords targeted?
Do you want to get a particular post rank better in search engine or improve your root domain value?
      Etc.

Being clear of your link building purpose will give clear direction on how to approach it.

      Hope this help a bit?

  7. Hi Cent, Nice article. Can you help me with tip number 23 get edu links? Because I am very new to the topic of SEO. Thanks

    1. Hi Mas,

      No issues. great question.

This is about getting links from educational institutions. Their domain authority is almost always very high. It is not easy to get links from edu sites but can be well worth the reward.

The original post has further details, but here is a summary:

      1) You create an awesome piece of content. This is a must just any content will not do. An infographic or something that has not been done in your niche.

      2) Then you identify which edu sites to target. Search for example – site:.edu “your keyword”

      3) Find a relevant contact to pitch your content for a link. You have send the email to a person and not a generic email address.

Good luck and thanks for the question.

      Cheers, Cent
