Three Ways to Find Incoming Links for Free

It's important for us to have incoming links from around the internet pointing back to our blogs and websites. Google and the other search engines use this as a barometer to measure the importance and value of our content.

As time goes by, and you start to accumulate more and more quality incoming links you will see a direct correlation to the rise in the amount of traffic coming to our sites from Google as well as the other search engines.

Tools To Track Incoming Links

There are many tools we use to track our incoming links and we can even track links to other websites if we want. There are days with I use a tool called Market Samurai which is well worth the investment and if you want to take a test drive you can sign up for a free trial.

On the other hand there are days when I want to KISS – “Keep it Short and Simple” and I'll turn to these three resources instead. Watch this video where I demonstrate how you can get a quick snapshot of your incoming links for free!

  1. Is your last name Jackson? Because I would call you “Action Jackson” right now. Unbelievable resources you have listed. Incoming links are huge in this world! This next sentence will sound like “Spam”, (but you already have a good idea of me) I am so happy I found your blog Ileane!
The blogging and SEO tips have benefited not only my sites by my clients. The quality SEO’s and bloggers that come to your site has enabled me to see other views of this internet business thing. And I say Thank You! I actually mean that…:)
Where have I heard that “K.I.S.S.” thing before?..lol It is so true. Too many over-think their blogs, sites or articles and just say “Chuck It”. Just Write! Right?
Time to promote…thank your for the short, simple and right to the point post!

    1. Ileane Smith @ This is my first time ,checking some one’s content with 100% concentrated mood as you know ,hundreds of blogs i browsed daily but read a few blog posts because all the posts are approx. similar for a particular SEARCH but today i have got your content fully different from other bloggers’ contents.I really salute you.

  2. Bryan for President! LOL!

Honestly Brian you make me smile, and I appreciate you for being so thoughtful and supportive. It make what I do all the more worthwhile. Stay tuned.

    1. I use Google webmaster tool to find the links to my site and also my site internal linking . But I observed that it is very slow , I mean new link are updated very slowly and it is necessary to use any other post.

    2. Thanks for sharing this useful ways to find link we usually use google webmastertools to find the exact number of links indexed by google!

  3. Another approach I use is Yahoo Site Explorer. It allows you to save up to 1000 backlinks to your site. While, it may or may not be going away in the future, it’s still a useful source of additional backlinks.

    1. Hi Shamelle, I don’t use that one anymore, but it used to be part of Market Samurai. I’m glad to see that you are checking on your incoming links. Thanks for sharing.

        1. Hi Eddie, thanks for the clarification. I know that it was removed from Market Samurai but I never bothered to investigate why since I didn’t use it anyway.
That post you left in CommentLuv looks interesting. I’d better take a look 🙂

  4. Before bloggers start checking links they should know that Gravatars and Google Profiles You Need Both! I seen a great video about it about a year ago but it did not get many views but the creator is probablly singing somewhere as she had a wonderful voice.

The building and checking of backlinks are Important but many misunderstand building links. They use irrelevent keywords as names one of their ways to market their websites in the namefields of comments. If the website is related to the blog post title they can gain some juice from Google.

But if you are trying to gain page rank by commenting on a social media blog with a link to a site about something unrelated it will not help you much directly with bot rankings I will not use an example since it could attract seekers of links for that keyword.

However when readers see that you are using a name without an unrelated keyword that could be draining the keyword destiny juice from the post you are reading. Many Bloggers forget this and if possible when making comments on blogs to use the keywords to strenghten the onpage seo of the website they are commenting on and not for the blog post they are reading and 1000’s more will over a given time.

Which comment link would you click on if you were visiting this site from a search the one that has just a name and good comment or the one with a keyword link unrelated to the topic ? Both Bryan and Shamelle related blogs so their keywords would prehaps help this page rank for it’s search term if they used keywordluv I visited their sites for a while and found some posts that they have but some comments contain low destiny keywords.

@Bryan someone said on your blog post “These SEO tips are really great for visibility”. Do you really want to give that guy a backlink and commentluv it’s a very shallow answer.

@Shamelle Disabling Right Click sounds good but sometimes I have to copy headlines because when I click sharing button it will only have the shortend link and no title I think tynt is a better option if you are worried about this.

    1. Hey Roezer! What’s happening? I’m glad to see you still have your spunk! You are too funny because you were probably laughing at that blogger and her weird singing voice! Hey guess what – Gravatar has been misbehaving lately and not showing up for some users. I know about this because my daughter just got a new blog along with a new Gravatar and it didn’t show up when she commented here. You know how Mom’s are, so I had to log into her account just to see for myself and sure enough, her account was set up correctly and her image was G rated and all! Then I noticed that a few other Gravatars were misbehaving too, so I don’t think it’s an isolated incident.
Oh well, thanks for the memories and for handing out all the advice. LOL! Now behave yourself ok?

      1. As for my own Gravatar I had not changed it in months and since I have not seen much daylight I had to Gimp it. I call it the Bloggers Winter Gravatar made with Gimp. I noticed also has been bugging me for days now I thought it was flash causing it anyway I will be in touch about it we have to stick with the title of the article the rest can be done on Google+ 🙂 or Twitter

  5. I usually use Google’s Webmaster tools for checking backlinks to my blog, but I also find that it isn’t always up-to-date.

I also use Google Alerts to let me know when a new link to my blog has been indexed, as well as when content from my blog gets indexed. Google Alerts is great for many things like that.

    1. Hi Paul, Thanks for stopping by and bringing up Google Alerts, because I have a question for you about this. How do you find the new incoming blog link in the first place – are you using Webmaster tools or a paid service like Market Samurai? When you set up the alert do you change it to the anchor text or do you just keep it as TechnicallyEasy?

I learned about a cool tool that works on top of Google Alerts called YoLink. Have you tried that one yet? I think I need to do a quick tutorial on it because it’s a hidden gem.

      Thanks Paul.

      1. With Google Alerts I just check for my top level domain (using link:technicallyeasy.net), but I could probably do the same with a specific page. It doesn’t display as much information as Webmaster tools, since I think I would need to setup a different Alert for each URL. Although Alerts sends an e-mail once a page exists that links to my blog.

I also use Market Samurai and have found it to also be a good tool. Unfortunately, it isn’t free.

YoLinks sounds interesting, and I haven’t heard of it. I’ll have to take a look at what it has to offer.

  6. Yay for free tools! I have been using Traffic Travis, but I don’t find it to be as accurate as I would like. Off to go register for Technorati…

    1. Hi Lilibeth, I haven’t heard of Traffic Travis, thanks for your comment. Btw – when you sign up for Technorati paste the code at the bottom of an existing post. You don’t want to generate one post just to claim your blog. Don’t worry, they’ll still find you 🙂

  7. These days there are plenty of ways to get links back into your site for free. All you need to do is find them, always be in the know and be a social media freak.

  8. Hey Ileane,

Thanks for the sharing the resources. This post will be useful for me because incoming links doesn’t work for my blog (I don’t know why it doesn’t).

Right now, I am using Majestic SEO (Thanks to Ana for her awesome post) and thanks to you for the link – it is kind of a reminder for me – it has been some time since I checked Majestic SEO.

Anyways, thanks for the awesome post,

    Jeevan Jacob John

Note: Special thanks for mentioning Technorati (I forgot to submit my new blog there, going to do it right now)

    1. Jeevan,
Did you submit your sitemap to Google Webmaster tools yet? Are you seeing any incoming links there yet? Let me know how you make out with Technorati! Glad you found the post useful Jeevan. Chat soon.

  9. Hi Ileane. Great tips. I loved the video which was a great demonstration. The video in video is a nice touch. No wonder you were nominated as best chick blogs. The dashboard was a new one for me. OpenSiteExplorer.org is a good tool to discover back-links also.
    Peace to you too!

    1. Hi Rick! I’m thrilled that you know about the BizChickBlogs award. How cool is that? Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video.

  10. Hi Ileane,

First, I want to say thank you to your tips, Can you help to verify my blog in Technorati? I have tried so many times, but I always receive the verify email from Technorati.

    1. Yes i also Registerd but when i am going to add the code and verifying than its showing not verified. Hope i’ll also get help. Thanks for this nice list.

    2. Ferb, please give me a link to the post where you placed the Technorati claim code so I can take a look.

      1. Hi Ileane,

Sorry, I gave it up yesterday I tried exactly 10 times and I received 10 emails not verified. I believed that’s only work for blog that’s well known by others people and long time on the internet. Especially, high page rank blog.

        Thanks for your help.

  11. Thank you, back linking is the one thing I need to master, It sounds like hard work so I tend to shy away from it which isn’t good…. I need to get motivated as I understand how important they are for your site… Andi

  12. Never checked ‘screen options’ before, didn’t know you can check backlinks from there. I have a few blogs and it is quite hard to keep track of all of them… But doing it through WordPress itself seems much more simple. Grateful for the idea, as always!

    1. Lidia, I blogged for months before I figured out where to find those screen options too! That’s why I make a point to include that little tip in videos whenever I get the chance. Glad it helped.

  13. Thanks for a good article.

Although it is not always fun to get backlink it’s very necessary for one’s positions and to get visitors.

  14. Quality inbound links is what each webmaster should look for. As back-links from high PR and relevant website will increase the authority of those links. Better make research and try to select few links on base of their relevancy and try to link to them to get maximum benefits.

  15. Nice sharing of info..Because this time I want to learn backlinking..This article is a big help tome..Thank you for sharing this post to us..

  16. Thanks for this great tutorial, The free services are good for a start but most of the time they only show links from blogs, it is always a good idea to use a paid tool to find links from other sources.

    1. Nishadha, you can get more info with paid tools but to be honest, all you really need is an overview of your link profile. You can never really know each and every link, especially when you have been blogging for awhile. Who has time to look at all those links anyway. The free tools will give you an idea of your progress.

  17. Excellent tips.

I also like to bookmark good blogs where I can comment and get some links in exchange to adding to conversation. Technorati is something obviously well established but I haven’t seen much of impact from participating there, does it still work?

    1. Linda, I really don’t spend much time on the Technorati blog in terms of “participation” I only use it to check incoming links and peek at my scores. I get a lot of traffic from Technorati, so I think it’s worthwhile to be listed, that’s for sure.

  18. Hey Ileane congratulations on another great post. I use Google webmaster tools and Alexa site info to check on sites linking into my blog, I’m listed in Technorati so will start checking there also, thanks, have a great day 🙂

    1. Hi Fabrizio! You are so right. Alexa will show you some good info about incoming links. Thanks for reminding me about that one! Great to see you here my friend, chat soon.

  19. Thanks for this great tips and i am using google’s Webmaster tools for checking backlinks to my blog, but it’s main problem is it’s not show latest update.I will try Market Samurai and i think it’ really great tool. Thanks again for sharing,Three Ways to Find Incoming Links.

    1. Bhupendra, do you have a sitemap submitted in your Webmaster tools account? When you have a Blogger blog there is a little trick for getting that done. Let me know if you need to submit the sitemap for your blog.

      1. Hi Ileane,
Thanks for reply and i don’t know about blogger blog trick. I just submitted my sitemap to webmaster like http://net-makemoneyonline.blogspot.com/ /feeds/posts/default?alt=rss , but in webmaster tool status of Indexed is showing pending when i post new post and i post my lost post 3 days back but it still not get indexed in webmaster. Is this is problem ? Please suggest me. Thanks

  20. Hi… i have been using wordpress for some time now and really i didnt know that there is an option to check incoming links… though i have been using google webmasters tool…will look into Technorati listing…

    Regards
    Aniket

  21. Very good video Ileane I have not paid this much attention but I will start. I thank you for your ever informing videos and thanks for answering my emails.

  22. To get the accurate data of incoming links, I usually use Google Webmaster tool . But, I also often use backlinkwatch.com to check them out for it doesn’t need you to log in. So, I can do it right away, albeit, it is too late or needs time to record the latest links to your sites.

    1. Thanks for the tip about Backlinkwatch! I’ll surely check it out later today. Nice comment zamahsari, I love when people add value to the conversation.

  23. Thank you for such an insightful article. I have no clue about backlinks and SEO and as hard as I try I struggle to really ‘get my head around it’. Your articles and advice are invaluable to a complete novice like myself :).

  24. I’m always looking for new and honest ways to build incoming links. of course, the WordPress dashboard shows all bloggers how many links are coming into each blog post, and, from which specific sites being linked from. I didn’t know up until now that technorati allows people to see inbound links through their technorati dashboard. I may have to start logging into technorati more often 🙂

    1. Hi Drewry, I wish WordPress would show all the links but to be honest it only shows a handful. I haven’t figured out why only a few show up but you can get a more comprehensive list from Google Webmaster Tools. But even then you won’t see all of them, but it’s enough to keep you busy for a really long time 🙂

  25. Thanks for sharing these resources. I look at my WordPress links, but I never use Technorati and Google Webmaster Tools. It’s time to do my Technorati check-in!

    1. Hi Marcie, Let me know if you’re seeing incoming links from this blog and which site you are seeing them on. It would be nice to know. Thanks!

  26. Ever since Yahoo webmaster tools closed down I’ve been looking for something to find my incoming links. Thanks for these.

    1. Hi Clara, I used Yahoo before also, but I didn’t like the interface. Them seemed to find more links though. Go figure 🙂

  27. Illeane,

I haven’t used Technorati to check my incoming links. Generally, I like Google Webmaster which contains very comprehensive list of incoming links. A lot of time, there are some links which really have no idea where they come from are worth to check out, especially give you many incoming links, such as Scoop.it, which I am not aware of this site…Only discover through the incoming links…

    Cheers,
    Ming

    1. Ming, that is so true. I think that happened for me with Pinterest. The first time I saw an incoming link from there I was like “what’s that about?”. LOL! Thanks for your input Ming!

  28. From my experience, there are a lot of different resources to check incoming links, but they all seem to produce different results. I use Google Webmaster Tools mostly, but am curious on other programs. Have you tried SEO Spyglass? It’s a free program and works great.

  29. Perfect video , before I never knew how to check incoming links , I think that using webmaster tools is the easiest way to checks links, I really appreciate this great help and tips that you have shared.

  30. I always use google webmaster tools to check my backlinks but technorati is something new for me, I will try this out.. thanks for the video….

  31. I use Alexa to see those links to our site. But i definitely try your tips here
that seems useful and more accurate.

    1. Hi Becca, Let me know how you make out. I checked Alexa today and found some surprises so it’s good to use them all.

  32. Those are great suggestions. Have you tried SEO Spyglass? They have both a free version and a premium version. I’ve only used the free version and the amount of data it provides is amazing.

    1. I haven’t tried that one, but I know that Ana Hoffman listed that one in the blog post that I linked to at the end. I’m sure @DiTesco and Mitz use that one too. Thanks for the suggestion. Scott.

  33. hello Ms. Ileane,

I posted your video today to my site, because I thought it was quite useful. Additionally, I like the way you format your videos with music and everything. Great job 🙂

I wish I started blogging back in 2006 full-time. I would’ve been way ahead today, in my online marketing efforts. However, as they always say, you live and learn 🙂

    1. Hi Drewry, that is so kind of you! Thank you for posting the video. That will make a difference in my YouTube engagement stats too. 🙂

  34. Omg I have been using wordpress for well over a year now and until i read your post didn’t know about the incoming links section on the dashboard. God how wordpress continues to surprise me cheers for the info.

  35. Ms. Ileane,

I see opportunity. If someone were to make a post about “WordPress dashboard add on suggestions”, I think WordPress would probably read the post and act on it. What do you think? 🙂

  36. Really great resources you have here Ileane. It’s really a great share and a key element towards this blogging business.

  37. Thanks for sharing this resources for incoming link monitoring. Google analytics will also help to monitor incoming links.

    1. Hi Ramnadh, yes that is so true. I love Google Analytics and now you can get to Webmaster tools right from the GA dashboard. Thanks for mentioning it.

  38. Google’s “Webmaster tools” is an excellent tool for checking back-links. But people should be aware that recently it seems like Google are changing it policies showing only about 80% of the back-links. It might be that in the future we will have to pay a fee for using it!

    1. Blake, I couldn’t agree with you more. At some point Google will need to charge for services like this, simply because of the volume of work that goes into it. Once they start charging, I guess I won’t be checking backlinks anymore. LOL!

  39. Hello, Ileane
you’ve done a good job with this video. 🙂
I use Google tools for this purpose. I love the fact that I can find all my stats in one place easily. Also, I believe that Google is reliable, so I vote for this one.

  40. I had the Dashboard viewed the incoming links before. I really am not so active with Technorati. I’ve been reading a lot about bloggers hooking up with it. Is Technorati really that good?

    Great post Ileane.

    Spatch

    1. Spatch, I’m not sure what you mean by being active in Technorati. All you really need to do is claim your blog there. In my case, I’m gaining in authority for keywords like blogging and social media, therefore my blog is getting higher on those pages and sending me more traffic. I hope that answers your question, if not let me know.

  41. Hi Ileane!
great post. i used to check my backlinks through different resources and than i will get up to date list for new links. i used almost each and every link finding software and technique however they works well for one time however after one or two times will not gives you proper list that is fresh and up to date.

    1. Reeha, I’m glad you mentioned that. There is such a massive volume of information on the web that it takes time for all of it to be indexed and categorized properly and there are times when the data will be off – even when you use premium tools! What you really want to do is just get an overview of your overall link profile and you don’t need to look at the data everyday – maybe once a week or every other week will be good enough.

  42. yeah, very valuable info, i must agree. i also use google tools, but as someone mentioned, if they ever become not free, i will have to look into cheap alternatives… i will, however, give a try to MS, that’s for sure, thanks!!

  43. I watched this video, already. I use Google webmaster tools. And you know, I got strange results for my blog. I’m getting thousands of links from some blogs I don’t even visit that much.

    1. Of course you saw this video weeks ago because you are one of the very special people who has subscribed to my updates. Thank you so much for doing that!
Have you had a look at those blogs to make sure that your content isn’t being scraped? But remember, there are so many ways to buildlinks that some of them might slip your mind. For example, if you are using the Blog Engage RSS Syndication, your links might be going to sites like Blog Serp and Topped Blogs. We can talk more about this later if you want. Just email me!

      1. Did you say, ” one of the very special people ” to me? I’m still smiling. That’s really good to hear. 😀

OK. I’ll send you an image in your inbox, about my links. See you there.

        1. Abhi, after our little chat, I think it might be a good idea for me to do a tutorial on using Google Webmaster tools! Thanks for the questions and I hope I answered all of them for you. Cheers!

          1. Yeah, you answered all and I’m clear with all of them. Thank you very much for your response.

            Looking forward to your post.

  44. Nice post. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the Guest Blogger concept. I can see how Guest Blogging can help you promote your website, but I just don’t see the value in allowing someone to post on your blog. Is this something that you focus on once you have an established website?

    1. Hi Fred, is your blog new? Just keep building links and you’ll see a difference. What is the main strategy you are using now for link building? Many you can try a few different methods. Let me know.

  45. Since everyone wants to talk about guest posting, little do you guys know your motivating me to go make a guest post today on somebody’s website. I wish I had more education on how to guest post on other people’s sites to build my business years ago, as I would have been in a better position today in life, had I known this knowledge back then. It’s all good though. We live and learn. And by the way, who here on basic blog tips guest posts on other people’s sites every day of the week? Just curious 🙂

  46. interesting read, anna at trafficgeneration does have great tools I visit frequently – googles webmaster tools is also invaluable

  47. Hey Ileane,

You are awesome, this is such great help for folks. It’s really important to check you incoming links so you can expand on that by linking back to folks and connecting with them in social media circles, so important.

As always you do a great job of demonstrating so thanks so much for that.

    Liz 🙂

  48. when it comes to traffic generation, I’m always looking for new and unique ways to organically build incoming links and search engine traffic. I think basic blog tips put out a really good post about “three ways to find incoming links”, as it helps me to focus more nowadays on unique content, inbound link building, and meaningful relationship engagement long term. Thank you to everyone here for helping me to stay focused in my Internet marketing efforts 🙂

    1. Hi Drewry, did you do any cardio yet today? I sure didn’t but it’s still early.

Thanks for stopping by and best wishes on your internet journey.

btw – I wanted to get back to you about your OneLoad question but I need a little more info. Can you tell me what video sites you have connected to OneLoad? Are you using MetaCafe or DailyMotion by any chance? If so, can you give me a link to your channel page please. Can you still see your stats on OneLoad?

I was banned from a couple of video services (which I do not care to mention) for violation of their TOS. Unfortunately, they never said what the violation was, and at this point I could care less. 🙂 But I was using TubeMogul to upload to these services and wondering if something like this could be the issue.

      1. cardio in the morning and cardio it might. One thing I learned is that although we gracefully season, it gets harder to maintain a striated physique and keep you cardiovascular activity up to par. I’m not far from being 40 years old, and finding that every day I wake up, my body is feeling slower. I’m constantly adjusting my diet, so that I can accelerate the weight loss process. It’s harder for men, because our testosterone declines sharply before 40, which discourages us from staying consistent in our cardiovascular efforts. Pray for me 🙂

  49. Great post above,
I want to add list to check link above maybe you can try bing webmaster tool too. Cause bing webmaster same calculate with yahoo site explorer. Anyway I more referred people to use google webmaster tools cause more internet users use google search engine than othet search engine

    1. That’s excellent advice Narutobux.

I haven’t visited Bing Webmaster tools in a long time and now that I understand more about how this stuff works, I need to go over there and see if there are any surprises.

Thanks so much for your comment!

  50. You have the best information ever!!! I subscribed to your YouTUBE and Twitter. Thank you so much for sharing!

  51. ILeane, these 3 tips are really useful. I have to check my technorati, just forgot about it since i set it up.

    1. Hi Latha, you’re right. Most people “set it and forget it” when it come to Technorati. It’s just that I get a ton of traffic from them, that’s why they are on my radar. 🙂

  52. Ms. Ileane,

I’m narrating your YouTube video in just a few moments, and will create a blog post on DrewryNewsNetwork, with link attribution act to your YouTube video channel and basic blog tips. Keep up the good work and all you’re doing. Drewry respects you! 🙂

      1. hi Ms. Ileane,

Please check out the blog section of my site. When I mentioned narrating your video, I recommended your video to my site visitors for them to view and be encouraged by. I respect what you’re doing as a blogger and your [humble heart of gratitude], in helping fellow bloggers succeed, in earning a full-time living on the World Wide Web. Thank you for just being you! 🙂

  53. Please give me the direct link ok?

I’m not sure why you don’t leave the link in CommentLuv, but that would make it so much easier for others who see it in CommentLuv to find (and for me too) 🙂
This is a tip for using CommentLuv – try to match your CL link to what you talk about in your comment, which helps with SEO also.

For example, in this comment you linked to something about Quilts, and in the previous one you linked to something about Bloomberg – BUT since you have a post about what we are discussing here – you should link to that post instead. The other option is to link to something you talked about in your comment. Remember it’s always good to go with something that’s relevant when ever you can. Google definitely looks at that and humans look at it even more 🙂

    Thanks!

  54. i believe google webmastertools is the best tool for checking backlins, it organizes everything really good, and it’s very easy to use.

    ~alex

  55. I use Google Webmaster tools to check my back-links and I find it very accurate.
They way the data is reported is easy to understand for a newbie also.

  56. Thanks for this great post. Finding incoming link is a good idea in tracking competitors as well. Majesticseo & MS are really great for this.

  57. According to me, if one doesn’t really expect too much, then the WordPress Dashboard is the best place to find free incoming links! It just directly shows the link without any other process!

  58. It is a shame that Microsoft shut down the Yahoo backlinks checker. Now sure why they did that. Never sure why Microsoft does anything.

  59. Hello Ms. Ilene,

I was looking for something completely different today when I stumbled onto your site and ended up reading this entire post. Thank you for the information. Like one of the earlier comments by Bryan stated “this may sound like spam, but I am glad I found your site.” 🙂

I have subscribed to your RSS feed and I’m going to connect with you now on FB & Twitter.

    1. Electra, I’m really glad that we connected and now that you are getting my email updates feel free to reach out via email anytime you have a question. Thanks for being so supportive I really appreciate that!

  60. Your wealth of information never disappoints! I have been floundering after the new penguin update for my 2 sites and I need more in coming quality links. I have bookmarked this post to refer back to it often. I never knew how to check my links from my blogs back end. Thanks again Ileane:)

  61. I use Market Samurai, which is based on Majestic SEO. It’s also great for SEO competition, rank tracking and keyword development and analysis.

  62. That was a great post. short and straight forward to the points. i think technorati can transform your site with free links when use very well. thanks for sharing

  63. I mostly check my site’s backlink through Alexa. Google Webmaster also show details result. Thanks for writing exclusive post on it

  64. Hi Ms. Ileane,
Thanks so much for the insight on Technorati. I (like others) went right on over to claim my blog. I did have trouble getting my gravatar to upload though, and it seems I might have to contact support concerning that. Do you have any tips on that matter? Perhaps I was doing something wrong. I have never had an issue with that.

  65. Thanks for the tips. Yahoo Explorer made it so simple for us… i would just go on it and do the check but since its been gone, I have resorted to using the “Link Assistant” one.

  66. This is an excellent article on checking who is linking to you. I often wonder if anybody out there finds any of my writing useful. I figure that people will link to my work if they think it will be helpful or interesting to their readers. Good work on explaining how to check for backlinks. Now I can check every once in a while to see who is linking to me.

  67. In my opinion Google webmaster tool is the best tool for checking the outbound links because sometime software’s doesn’t show you accurate result so, personally I don’t like paid or free software’s. If anyone want good ranking over Google and other search engine then research relevant and high PR blogs then comment on it because Google wants quality backlinks.

  68. Thanks Ileane! I never knew about the Technorati link checker stuff…. I have been looking for a few other places for my own benefit!

PS I found you pretty high up in the search results! Congrats from a fellow blog engage member!

  69. That’s a real help ma’m. I was actually searching for “find my links” on Google and luckily found yours on the very first page.
I’ve been using Google webmasters to find incoming links. But I needed a better one. Looking forward to buy Market Samurai

  70. Hi!
I found your post searching about inbound links. Thank you for useful advices.
I wonder why I have 0 Google links while Alexa shows 64?

Thought I would share a service based on Google Analytics called InboundLinkAlerts from EmbeddedAnalytics. You need to have Google Analytics on your site. When you first create an alert, the service queries your Google Analytics and creates a data-warehouse of all known referring links. After this the service routinely checks visits to your site over the last hours, comparing referring links to the data-warehouse. If a new one is found it sends you an alert email.
