The Secret Ingredient for a Successful YouTube Collaboration Video

My Secret for a Successful YouTube Collaboration

Laughter.

Whenever you get two or more highly energetic people together on screen for a YouTube collaboration and there's an almost magical chemistry that puts a smile on your face. Before you know, there's bound to be a barrel of laughs.

Regardless of the seriousness of the topic being addressed people want to feel good when they're watching your videos and they can tell if there is positive energy between the folks in front of the camera or not.

Think about it this way.

Do you look forward to watching YouTube videos that make you smile or do you tend to move the more boring one's down to the bottom of your watch list?

Benefits of YouTube Collaborations

Here at Basic Blog Tips we've talked about the power of collaborations for years but here's what YouTube says about them in the Creators Playbook:

Collaborating with and promoting other creators in the community can be one of the most powerful ways to reach new audiences. Other YouTube creators are a critical part of your community on YouTube.

One of my favorite YouTubers is Renae Christine aka Rich Mom. She and I connected over on Social Buzz Club and we started sharing each other's content from day one. Renae runs a host of websites and a huge awesome-sauce membership community called Rich Mom University. Renae has over 30,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel, so I was really to get together with her for two YouTube collaboration videos. Here is the first of the videos (warning: lots of laughter ahead, so don't sip your coffee until after you watch the video).

YouTube Do's and Don'ts of With Ms. Ileane and Rich Mom Renae Christine

Stats from YouTube Analytics

You might be wondering how this YouTube collaboration video held up against the other 150 videos on my YouTube channel. At the time I'm writing this the video has over 275 views, over 40 comments, 15 likes and it even turned up as one of the top ten videos watched during the month I uploaded it.

You can watch the other half of my collaboration with Renae over on her channel and that one is hysterical as well. Crucial Dos and Dont's of www.youtube.com was the perfect opportunity for Renae's subscribers to meet me and get introduced to the all the valuable resources and tutorials offered on my YouTube channel.

Hangouts on Air aka “Shows”

Obviously Google+ Hangouts on Air have gained tremendous popularity of late. If you haven't started your own YouTube show yet, you might want to consider appearing as a panel guest on a popular show in your niche. It's one of the easiest way to do a successful collaboration video outside of doing an in-person recording. Spend some time watching a few and you'll see how laughter plays a big role in making the Hangout fun and memorable.

My personal favorite is Mia Voss from The Mia Connect Power Chat, is such a pro at tickling everyone's funny bone and keeping the energy levels high during her shows. She knows the power of collaboration and she even teamed up with Christine DeGraff for one of her newer shows called What's Your Story. Mia always manages to get hundreds of comments on her events and I'm sure she has a long line of folks waiting to be featured on upcoming videos.

Get More YouTube Views With a Smile

If you're not getting enough views on your YouTube videos – even if you have a boring topic, just injecting some laughter into your next video. The least you can do is SMILE 🙂
