Preview the New YouTube Design Now! [Video]

Google has been experimenting with a new YouTube design for channels. This new YouTube design is based on the feedback they received from the users, partners and channels owners as a result of the Cosmic Panda experiment. According to Google, the goal of this redesign is an effort to help users:

  1. Customize Your Channel
  2. Engage Your Audience
  3. Expand Your Presence

I got the update on my YouTube account the other day and I recorded this impromptu video, without knowing what to expect. I discovered some really awesome features that I'd like to share with you now.

More profile links on the New YouTube Design

One of the first things I noticed after I recorded the video is that you can add additional links to your profile. I added links to my favorite social networks like Twitter and Facebook and I also added links to both of my blogs. That's the good news. The bad news is that those profile links are no longer DoFollow, they are NoFollow.

I'm really pleased with the new layout and overall it find it much more eye appealing and I do think it will help increase engagement and make it easier to get more YouTube views. The only options I can't seem to find is how to subscribe to a YouTube Channel by email. I sent feedback to YouTube about this when they introduced Cosmic Panda, but it seems they still haven't found a place to add the option. I hope they have not decided to get rid of subscribing by email, but I hope they find how to design YouTube channel options that don't interfere with the user experience.
