If you are looking for a way to increase the traffic and engagement on your WordPress blog, try installing the CommentLuv plugin. There are two versions of CommentLuv currently available. The first one is the free version, CommentLuv 2.9, which is available for self-hosted WordPress blogs only and you can download from the WordPress Repository or upload directly from the dashboard of your blog. You can watch this video from Andy Bailey, the developer of the plugin, as he describes how CommentLuv came to be. He will also introduce the motivation behind the second version of the plugin which is the paid version know as CommentLuv Premium or CLP. :)

Find blogs to comment on in your niche, with the Global CommentLuv Enabled Blog Search

Andy has recorded quite a few more videos that tell the whole story and if you want a lesson in how to market and grow a product you can watch the CommentLuv 2.9 Trilogy and get a ton of tips and techniques (and he’s are also very entertaining).

Install CommentLuv 2.9 today!

I know you’re excited to hear about this new version of the plugin, but please remember to deactivate and delete the old version of CL before installing CommentLuv 2.9. All of the discussion about what’s different in CommentLuv 2.9 started on the blog with my post CommentLuv Secrets Leaked! There’s also a new support site for CommentLuv 2.9 http://support.commentluv.com

This is the description of CommentLuv taken from the download page in the WordPress repository.

It has been found to increase comments and the community spirit for the thousands of blogs that have installed it. With a simple install you will immediately start to find new and interesting blog posts from your own blog and community. You will even be able to build your list/network/community even more by offering your readers the opportunity to register to your site to unlock advanced features of the plugin like being able to choose from any of their 10 last posts when they comment or other features like dofollow links and more

Commentluv+ is great!
no need for keywordluv anymore.
Btw. Ileane, it is great you embed the video like this and not just use the youtube video. I’m in China and youtube is blocked here. So whenever half of the content of a post is in a youtube video, I can’t see it :( .
So this is great.

Both are really great plugins! We had run KeywordLuv for some time on our blog as an experiment, and it definitely made a difference as far as the number of comments your blog receives. But the SPAM has become a real issue while the plugin was enabled.

Hi, I am a little confused about adding comment luv to my 3 word press blogs. Here is my question – I work with a coach who tells me not to have any outbound links from my sites if possible because it will dilute link juice. As you can see I believe in the concept of CL since I am spending my valuable time using it. Could you find the time to give me your take on this. Maybe I just missing something or may have misunderstood him. Anyway, glad to have found your site:)

Hi Lauren,

The concept around keeping your link juice is similar like page rank sculpting and channelling it all towards the pages you want to rank for. Comment luv and linking to other sources goes beyond that narrow thinking. In theory your coach is right. From a ranking point of view that’s exactly what you should do, however from a back-link and traffic point of view it is actually great that your pages reference and link to other sources.

Lets say for example you have no outbound links on your site, this means you are unique and you need no sources. If your subject is that narrow not to many people are interested in it and very little conversation and “signals” are available around your subjects. This often results in less interaction, worse rankings and eventually less traffic.

Finally, lets say you install comment luv premium, you can select which of your posts need more backlinks whilst interacting with your target audience. This is like win-win minus a bit of link-juice.

Think about it. Linking out is not a bad thing. Also consider ping backs when referencing relevant material. Lets say you reference a page that has a lot of authority. Since you are writing a relevant article and providing a link to them they will likely approve the ping-back resulting in some link-juice flowing to them but the ping-back is providing you even more juice making you a net profit in link juice. This concept is mathematically sound but these days it’s not about the juice its about getting the right type of engagements for your compelling story.

Its odd it seems to me that although people want backlinks to their site and know that commentluv is a good way to get them they do not seem to understand how it works.

Unless you type in yourname@ (your anchor text here) you will not get a do follow link. If you use the proper format if will come out yourname from anchor text with the anchor text being linked to your site.

Its easy to do and yet many people are still doing it wrong

Got a quick question for you:

Why do you use CommentLuv and then no-follow the links it produces? Kinda destroys the idea of sharing the Luv, don’t you think?

The “Follow My Links” plugin works quite well in this respect, well at least it does on my theme (U-Design) at Social Strategy.

I don’t NoFollow everyone’s links. If you hang around long enough and get enough comments approved they become DoFollow.

But one thing I don’t like is when people I don’t know, put links in comments (like you just did but I removed it) when I’m already using CommentLuv.

Everyone is not on the same wavelength when it comes to blog comments and when they should and shouldn’t leave links. Unfortunately I don’t have time to educate the entire blogosphere (even though I try) but I do have the power to remove links or make them NoFollow OR DoFollow.

No other plugin on the planet gives me that power except CommentLuv Premium.

The beauty of having your own blog is that you can do as you wish and perhaps I am a bit “controlling” BUT – two things you said just now are totally wrong.

#1 – I share all the time. That’s the reason I installed CommentLuv in the first place – WAAAYYY before the premium version was ever even imagined.

#2 – CommentLuv Premium is FAR from “out of date”. In fact it’s one of the most cutting-edge, contemporary, state of the art, newfangled, WordPress plugins in the world.

You have me confused right now because earlier you said you want to share with everyone now you seem to imply that some sharing isn’t good. From all I have read I need this! Seems like a great way to reward people who take the time to leave a comment. I will try the free version until I can afford the paid version. I think I luv this!

I have been following this thread for a while and just this morning it dawned (pun) on me that commentluv may just be a nice addition to my offline customers’ websites I maintain for them. It would keep them fresh, probably get better rankings, and be interesting for existing customers.
