Technorati Attempts A Comeback

For quite some time the news surrounding Technorati was all bad.  In Top 5 Blog Topics I discussed how Technorati USED to be important and their ranking system had crumbled.

But now it seems that Technorati has made some improvements to their site and is begging to rebound.  Here are a few posts about the revival.

I'm not certain that Technorati can rebuild their brand to it's former state, but I don't blame them for trying. Let me know if you have any Technorati buzz to share and what you think about their chances for survival.

  1. There system crumbled? That might explain why I no longer have a ranking there.

    1. Hi Rose, Since the listings are being reviewed by people, it might take awhile for them to get through the backlog. Hopefully your listing will show up in a few weeks, but don’t hold me to that! lol

  2. Ileane this is very interesting. I have never been a fan of Technorati and thought their system was a bit flawed. However I do have an account and looking forward to their revamp. I will have to research this further.

    1. Hi Element321,

I’ll update the post as significant changes occur. I already added another link to a second post from Shirley’s Zone on the topic.

      Thanks for visiting.

  3. Thanx. You want to mention something over the wire, when you do. I do not think the community RSS update doesn’t announce when you add or update a posting

  4. Thanks for the updates. If it’s true then it’s a good thing. I have long lost my confidence in Technorati after they stop updating my blog, stop answering my complaints/requests, making all my blogs start from zero. Hopefully they really mean it this time.

    1. Hi Ching Ya, Nice to see you here. I agree Technorati has a long way to go in the eyes of many bloggers. Keep me posted if your standings change.

  5. I haven’t bothered with Technorati for ages, there are much better systems in use on other websites for blogging 😉

  6. HI Ileane.

    Came here via Blogengage.

A few newbie questions if you would be so kind to indulge:

    1. This isn’t your main site, right? Are you a writer on a blog network (blogwire?). How does that work?

    2. When I started researching blogging about a year ago, I kept reading about “you MUST have your blog listed at Technorati”. It’s news to me that their reputation went down hill-why?

    3. Karen, in the comment above mine – says there are much better systems on the web for blogging. Can someone (karen?) explain what you meant by this?

As a newbie you always feel as if you’re missing out on something or someplace to promote your blog!

    Thanks in advance!

    – Don

    1. Don,
I have so many blogs now, I can’t even keep up. lol Just kidding. My primary blog is Ms. Ileane Speaks at http://ileane.wordpress.com
I’m sure you know Brian from Blog Engage fame, he has started a BuddyPress blog called BloggingWire which allows anyone to create a new blog here for free! Here’s a short post from Brian explaining how it works http://ow.ly/1mUKR2. We would love for you to join us here!

If you have a chance take a look at the blog post I linked to here from Louis Gray for all the details on Technorati’s fail, but in a nutshell, the site was riddled with spam which caused a lot of downtime.

I’ll let Karen handle #3 (I’ll tweet her if she doesn’t get back to us soon).

So nice of you to visit. Thanks for stopping by! Don’t forget to vote.

  7. @Don Power: By other websites I mean sites that could be listed to been similar to Techorati, sites that have your blogs information, such as BlogEngage, where more traffic is sent to my blog than Technorati, over the years of blogging I’ve never really had that much traffic from Technorati..

    1. Karen, Thanks for clarifying!

If you are new here, you might not know about Blog Engage. Basically it is the best blogging community for any blogger on the planet.

Blog Engage allows you to submit your Blog Article(s) that will be reviewed by all and will be promoted by me or our visitors to the main page.

  8. Technorati seems to be one of the important sites for bloggers… but as you said, the new change have brought up some big bugs! hope they will be up as before soon!

  9. I don’t like Technoratti one bit they are only pro the Top 100 and if you are not in that Paid list? you will not get mentioned

  10. My last visit to Technorati did not really impress me, now with Adsense and other advertisers, a slow to update profile page, and they totally lost all the other blogs (8) I had so painstakingly submitted that were waiting to be “seen” by the almighty T. So now I have to enter them all over again and am asking myself, should I even bother?

  11. It seems like other bookmarking sites have overwhelmed Technorati. But I aways thought it was a good site. We will see if it can get back on its feet.

  12. They are still alive, but they are not in the same important position.
I think they are not on the top of the list for bloggers anymore, but they are still on there, at the “if I have some time left I will go to technorati”.

  13. Ileane this is very interesting. I have never been a fan of Technorati and thought their system was a bit flawed. However I do have an account and looking forward to their revamp. I will have to research this further.
