Have You Been Ignoring StumbleUpon?

StumbleUpon is one of best social networking and bookmarking sites for bloggers or anybody who is hunting for informative articles and posts. There are many social networking and bookmarking sites in the world. Some of them are more popular than others. Apart from being popular by the end users, there is also an X factor which is created by media buzz. Some sites enjoy more media attention than others. These include:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Linkedin
  • Google+
  • Pinterest

StumbleUponStumbleUpon is not that lucky.

There are social networking and bookmarking sites which have made it big not only in terms of the usage by the general population but also, they have received enough and sometimes, more than enough media buzz.

As these websites are always in news, most of the bloggers and website owners use them across niches for brand building and promotional exercises.

If you can refresh your memory, you will realize that there are few new names in the above mentioned list and some of the old names have disappeared. StumbleUpon is one of them.

Now when I say stumbleupon, what comes to your mind? Probably,

I have used it once,

I used it more than once,

Or

I was quite regular till some time back and then I stopped using it as I think it is not as popular as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or Pinterest.

Under any circumstances, if you are not using stumbleupon in the current world, then you are missing out on a great opportunity.

This opportunity is even bigger if you are a blogger.

Bloggers need platforms where people are constantly looking for great informative materials to read.

People on Facebook might be more interested in interacting with each other than reading your blog posts.

People on Twitter might be interested in consuming your information but you need to handle it in a specialized manner to exploit its true potential.

But people on StumbleUpon have only one interest and that is reading informative posts and articles.

StumbleUpon has still got a very active community. They are the best pool of readers and consumers for a blogger because they are interested in what an average blogger produce and that is, content.

Likes of Twitter, Facebook, Google+ or Pinterest are good and there is no way you can afford to ignore them but at the same time, you should also not ignore StumbleUpon. Those who still use StumbleUpon regularly can testify that the traffic received by StumbleUpon is awesome. The most important criteria for judging traffic is its quality. These people not only spend time on your blog but also contribute to it through comments and sharing.

In fact, back in early 2011 StumbleUpon surpassed Facebook in amount of traffic. But as most of us are not using it the way we used it in past, traffic has dropped on stumbleupon. But the best part about it is the fact that the quality of visitors from StumbleUpon has improved and most of the junk has left it.

Bigger social networking sites like Facebook attracts lot of junk so often your reach is diluted but on StumbleUpon, your target audience is interested in your material so your reach is much more concentrated.

Your ROI (return on investment) is going to be much higher for your efforts than most of the other social networking and bookmarking sites.

One of the common trends which I have seen in last few months is disappearance of stumbleupon share button from many blogs.

In fact, if you have started blogging in last year or so, chances are you never had StumbleUpon share button on your blog.

How to use StumbleUpon to drive traffic to your site

First of all the basic guidelines of using stumbleupon are same as of using any other social bookmarking site, but some of the basic points to consider are;

  1. Have a SU share button on your site.
  2. Register for the site and create a profile if you don’t have one.
  3. Complete your profile with your images.
  4. At the beginning it will ask you to enter interests. You can also edit these at any later stage. You should enter your interests carefully because then it will show sites according to your settings in interest.
  5. Follow others and bookmark their sites.
  6. Install the StumbleUpon extension and start using it instantly. You can bookmark your site and other sites using it.
  7. Make sure you only bookmark worthy sites and not every sites on the planet earth.
  8. Socialize and interact with fellow members.
  9. Design your site in a way it can have an instant impact on your visitors because most of the visitors who arrive on your site through StumbleUpon will leave it within few seconds if they don’t find it attractive
  10. Think of keywords while deciding on the tags for your site because they will be deciding factor in bringing traffic to your site. If they are not targeting properly then you may end up with untargeted visitors.
  11. You should use StumbleUpon for your posts ideas; it will help you in developing appropriate content as per your visitor’s interest.

So if you can bring your focus back on generating traffic from StumbleUpon, I am sure you will get better results.

Please leave your comments and let me know “Are you still going to ignore StumbleUpon?”

  1. I really have great respect for stumbleupon become it generates more traffic than facebook for a website, but people have not realized by still social media site is steadily increasing it customer base and would one day be the leader.

  2. Its actually been a while since i read a blog post about stumbleupon. I have tried stumbleupon in the past but never had much success, only a visit now and then. Didnt know about their community but now i need to check that out. I also know they have a paid traffic option and it could be interesting to hear if anyone had any luck with that service.

    1. Their paid option is called stumbleupon paid discovery. it is a very good and economical option for new blogs. You need to submit your site for approval in order to start your campaign.

It could be very effective, so you can give it a try.

  3. I tried SU before and got good amount of traffic, though traffic from SU was more than FB avg. time was more from FB. So I left SU thinking it might not work.

But I was wrong have to start SU, for that I would recommend all of them to place their SU link (with out http)!

  4. Well SU and FB both could be used simultaneously, so we should not ignore SU. It is still one of the best options we have.

    thanks for your comment.

  5. Hi Akhilendra,

I use Stumble Upon from beginning and using it even now. The “Gadget” section works well for my Tech Blog and I receive pretty good amount of traffic from SU. Thanks for sharing the tips…

  6. Really nice information on StumbleUpon.

I have also seen that bloggers are ignoring Stumbleupon and their focus is only for Facebook, Twitter and Google+ etc and they’re missing the huge opportunity of getting traffic from StumbleUpon.

I have been using it from long time and I also get some traffic from it, but one thing I’ve noticed is that StumbleUpon works best for niches like photography, fashion and celebrity etc. For blogging and marketing niches It is difficult to get good amount of traffic from StumbleUpon.

Thanks for sharing your views on Stumbleupon here and I’ll surely follow some of the tips you mentioned here.

  7. I am not ignoring this social networking site. I know what kind of traffic it brings to my blog. I love them, but usually have one problem with them : Traffic is not targeted. And they don’t remain on my blog for more than 1.16 minutes on an average ( according to analytic ).

    Finally great post..

  8. Still using StumbleUpon, but it is nowhere near as profitable as some of the other social mediums out there. ROI isnt exactly stellar, and from what I’ve observed, it only works with very specific types of posts when it comes to generating traffic (pretty much like Pinterest). I feel I’d be better of investing my time elsewhere. I know for a fact that a lot of people have had a tremendous amount of success with this, just not me.

  9. StumbleUpon is not very popular in Europe. The other social networks are, but I have the feeling that SU is more focused on the US. Are there any European SU users out here?

  10. Thanks vivek for your comment, i think you can choose targeted tags in SU while submitting a link. It may further improve the quality for your visitors.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

  11. I really agree that Stumbleupon is really useful and powerful. I use it in every blog post I do and its giving some extra traffic. Not too much though. Thanks for the great tips!

  12. Very well article written on Stumbleupon and you are right now many bloggers don’t mention stumbleupon in their list why i don’t know but if we use stumbleupon correctly then we get some good results in some time.

    1. Emily Woodhouse

StumbleUpon assist or helps your blog or site by providing you millions of prospective spectators. Like myspace, facebook, and other social media sites; the social networking part of Stumble provides you the prospective to advertise your page to anyone.

  13. i created account their but i was not knowing how to make use of it to bring traffic to my blog but now i will be taking it more seriously…

  14. Yes. I was one who signed up for an account, used it once or twice and never came back. Thanks for this information. I will have to get back on it.

  15. I have been using StumbleUpon from the starting, and Yes it works like a charm sending thousands of visits in a single day oftentimes which is really amazing. I have never ignored it, but conversion rate is really low as random people browse our website.

  16. i always stumble the blogs daily 1 hour because it was my hobby to know some bizarre and funny news from around the world.

  17. i m power stumbler in stumbleupon. It was my daily hobby to stumble some interesting blog which share news about the bizarre and funny things.

  18. Well Hello Akhilendra, I have been using Stumbleupon for quite a while to bookmark all of my blog posts however you point out the benefits of breaking through the barrier that SU presents after you submit your site.
SU presents a page that simple states, start stumbling, you may think like me ‘how is that going to benefit me’. However as you rightly point out there is an active community hidden by this mundane page, I will have to push through and take a look myself.

    igor

    1. That’s right Igor, It’s like building your own community there. If we are not active on SU or any other site, people won’t even know if we exist. So first step is to let others know about our existence.

So, we need to take it step by step. If someone is not active on stumbleupon then it will take some time before results are visible but it doesn’t mean that we should stop using it.

  19. I have an old account it was a long time I last used it. Mabyee I should consider start using it again….

  20. It really a pity, that nobody is talking about Stumbleupon now a days. I think it’s not getting the appreciation what it deserves due to some major social networking sites like you mentioned in this post.
And I do agree with jaisonjohn, it definitely brings more traffic to a website than twitter, Facebook or google+.

  21. At first, I had tremendous success driving traffic to my blog through Stumbleupon, but about a year ago, it all disappeared. So far as I know, I’m doing nothing different, but now, my articles, essays, and stories generate nothing there. I still post on Stumbleupon from time to time, but I no longer expect it to contribute significantly to my blog traffic. Thanks for your insights!

  22. Stumble upon gets my site a few views everyday, but the traffic has a high bounce rate. I would guess not many return for future visits.

  23. I used to use Stumbleupon quite often and I actually got some decent traffic from them. After they switched or updated their layout and design traffic dropped substantially. Ever since then I kind of gave up on it. Maybe I will take a look at it again one of these days. I guess you never know what might become of any site.

  24. Do you suggest creating a Stumbleupon profile *just* for your blog/website? For instance, if your blog is called “Joe’s Widgets”, create a profile on SU called “Joe’s Widgets”? Or is creating a personal profile (like “Joe Smith”) a better idea?

    Thanks!

    1. I prefer to to create my personal profile because it help me in endorsing my products like blog and i might be promoting different products at one time. When we create a profile for a blog or site and if we have to close that due to some unavoidable reason in few years or you decide to blog on something else, then we may loose the brand and recognition also as everything belonged to that name.

Now having said, it doesn’t mean that you can’t have multiple profiles if required so look at your requirement.

You can start with your personal profile then based upon the results and your experience, you may opt for a different profile.

      Thanks for your comment.

      1. Ah, I see! It gives that “human” touch and it shows that there’s a person behind your blog.

Thanks again for the tips, I’ll definitely be using them!

  25. never had a luck with stumbleupon and twitter even after getting good no. of followers through giveaway and stufff , the traffic just doesnt seem to get even. Facebook has helped me a lot in getting traffic and readership . Thanks for the article.

    i think
    facebook = google
    twitter = bing

  26. Hi Akhilendre!
i am awared to this site but i never used this site but heard about it that it’s really a best social site in which more traffic occur rather than facebook.i use facebook so i will try to use this site earlier.

    1. At times, it may be a better idea to focus on one but if your aim is to bring quality traffic then focusing on more than one site would be a better option.

As you are already using facebook, you know the rules of game, why not start playing with this also?

And, don’t forget to share your experience with us.

  27. I really like stumbleupon, as it is one of the few social networks that bring significant traffic. In addition, it really has a nice community, from which we can learn many useful things.

  28. Yes
I still love stumbleupon but its been ages since i got massive traffic from it,
it really helped me when i started blogging

    1. It has been observed with many bloggers and primary reason behind is the fact that most of us have stopped using SU. So as there are less bloggers on that, traffic has also gone down.

Thanks a lot Derek for sharing your thoughts with us.

  29. I always use to Stay updated with Stumbleupon.
M active with Stumbleupon Pinterest & Many More Such good Social Networking Sites.

  30. Hi Akhilendra,

I completely agree that StumbleUpon is the most underrated social networking site. The concept is completely original and after a while it provides you with exactly the type of sites that you are looking for.

Plus for traffic it is excellent, especially if your content is great quality and the topic is in demand. In my opinion StumbleUpon is a better place to share your content than Facebook.

  31. I guess I am new to this StumbleUpon site and yes you can now call me one of the people ignoring it because I have no idea about it and never heard about it. But after reading your post, I now understand what is it all about. Thanks for sharing this post and helping me to widen my knowledge.

  32. I have been ignoring stumbled upon and will probably add it to my social activities next month. Thanks for sharing the benefits and how to get going.

  33. Stumble upon is really very helpful as it directs most interested people to sites or blogs. I am experiencing it. Very well written and informative article that put some light on SU’s benefits.

  34. Neha there is no 12th tip, in fact there can’t be, now i am not talking about the serial number in this list. You may add any or someone else here will definitely add it. But the point is “are you doing it right?” And only you can figure out it.

I don’t know about your business, short and long term strategy, not even the level of your current engagement on SU. And if you are asking about the site which is in your link, then it is eCommerce site and FB with Twitter would be a better option to promote it.

You should have FB, Twitter and G+ at the front seat with SU at the back seat to promote a ecommerce site. But again, i just looked into your site. I still don’t know much about it.

So i will suggest you to analyze the top performing sites of your niche and then see their engagement on social networking site. Then develop a marketing strategy based upon your competition, you will not need any 12th tip if you can do it right.

    Thanks for your comment.

  36. Hey, Akhilendra! Great article. I think social bookmarking websites are great when it comes to promoting our websites. I don’t ignore them at all! 🙂

      1. No problem, Akhilendra! Whenever I have time, I say my opinion. I have a question for you: how do you choose which bookmarking sites worth sharing your articles on?

        1. Well you need to run few experiments in order to see if a particular site is good for you. You need to share posts at regular intervals in different time periods like morning, afternoon and evening.

Without running these experiments you can’t know the true potential of a website. So i use this method to see it for myself.

  37. Stumbleupon is not only a social media but a boon for all the bloggers and hence i stumble all my article and posts on stumble upon. I got 10K visitors from stubmleupon just from a single article on facebook tricks. So i am completely agree with you author that stubmleupon is very useful and every blogger should use this

  38. I have been ignoring StumbleUpon, but I have been receiving traffic from it. My problem is that the traffic I have received hasn’t been high quality. A lot of the people that comes via StumbleUpon are only visiting my site for 10-15 seconds.

  39. I love that you mention socializing with other people. While every submission you make to StumbleUpon get categorized and anyone will be able to ‘stumble upon it’, it’s also important to interact with the community so that your friends on StumbleUpon can share your stuff and you share theirs, it’s the whole give & take process.

It’s important to realize, though, that StumbleUpon can create a lot of bounces if your post is mis-categorized, so be honest with your categorizations, otherwise you’ll get a bunch of bounces and no new readers.

    Great post! 🙂

  40. Stumbleupon could be a traffic source for your site.

I used for a little while and have moved on to other social media sites.

  41. SU’s been sending good traffic to me. I realised it’s importance after I started adding appropriate tags and keywords to my submission

  42. Stumbleupon is good. I have had some success with it but not a lot. In addition, some of the traffic is of low quality. Most people stay on the pages for seconds and even less so I am not sure if the traffic from SU is any value or not. Facebook is a better option.
Can you share the secrets such as, how to use appropriate keywords etc.

  43. Stumbleupon is a great social media platform. Its very effective in driving traffic and could be a great SEO tool. You just need lots of hard work, right planning and steady execution.

  44. I hasd never heard of Stumble Upon until i started my car valeting business with its linked blog. I did sign up to have a look but didn’t get on with it. I might have another look but most people I speak with have never heard of it either

  45. Glenn Pearson

    Hi,
Great info. Just a question, do you find the time spent on your site from visitors from Stumble Upon is short? Looking at my Google Analytics – it seems they are only on for a second or two…It is like passing traffic?

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

    Thanks Glenn

  46. StumbleUpon is the best source for social media traffic for your blog as long as you are not breaking their terms and conditions, i have been using it to share only my blog posts and hence my SU account has been deleted and since then my traffic has reduced.

but now i have managed to cope up and once again i have raised the traffic but all i wanted to tell you is that SU is a mine of traffic, use it properly.

  47. I use stumbleupon regularly and it is our number one referral traffic source in google analytics. Not every article you submit gets stumbled but as you said don’t forget to write your keywords in the keywords field as ignoring this, your article may loose visibility in the vast index of stumbleupon.

  48. Yup , I have been ignoring Stumbleupon , but after reading your useful post i beleive i were so stupid about thinking that facebook is more important than stumbleupon.

  49. We must be active in social networks to get the desired results let it be twitter or facebook or Stumbleupon. being active and sharing the contents which interests the followers/friends and also sharing our followers content keeps the account active and gains some attention from our followers and other users.

  50. I have used StumbleUpon and according to my experience it is one the best social network to make the product viral. Links from StumbleUpon are also very important to enlist the site in organic searches.

  51. StumbleUpon is one of the social bookmarking site that can help you gain huge traffic and increase your visitors just that the visitors from this kind of site are not really to stay but to read or view your site and go. but if you are thinking of how to increase the rate of visitors for your site…think of StumbleUpon. thanks for sharing

  52. When I think of StumbleUpon, I feel as if it was really “Big” a long time ago. I wonder how much of a community it has now.

What do you think of StumbleUpon’s paid discovery as a way to drive traffic to your website? Is it comparable to google AdWords? Or should I not even bother?

  53. I so totally agree with you Akhilendra! People seem to have forgotten to use StumbleUpon. I wrote and article myself on why you should start using it again, especially as a blogger and your post here is even more detailed. Excellent work, you just hit it! I also use SU to find information, inspiration and sometimes even motivation 😉

  54. Stumbleupon drives a surprising amount of traffic back to the main site for my business. It’s funny how Stumble can be forgotten when it really is an effective bookmarking tool.

  55. no luck for me, no one reads people posts on stumble upon, i think they control who views content or not, had visitors in the start for two to three days then boom.

    1. I’m in the same boat as you. Occasionally I get a few hits from stumble upon, but it isn’t anything impressive. I may start being more active on it, but if I find it being as inactive as I did in the past, then I’m just going to give up on it completely.

  56. I have been using StumbleUpon for several years. My second best traffic source is from StumbleUpon. Some of my older articles sometimes still still get 100’s of hits a day and most of the new articles get a large amount traffic right after I stumble it.

For traffic building, stumbleupon is great, but you have good content and ways to get those readers on your site, or you just raising your bounce rate .

  57. I know the importance of Stumble upon but i have used it once or twice .,i think i dont know the way how to drive traffic from stumble upon.
It never gave me any traffic , i once tried to work hard for SU , dunno why

    1. Sajid, honestly it’s not about SU, if you are able to get traffic from any other social networking or bookmarking, then you are good. But If you are having issues with social media marketing, then you need to carefully examine your social strategy.

      Thanks for your comment.

  58. I have used StumbleUpon once. I was afraid to add to many of my blog posts because I was worried that I would be marked as a spammer. So far I have only submitted two blog posts. I am really new to writing and trying to get readers, so I don’t really know what I am doing at the moment. This is a good article on SU and I will try to use these tips to help me get more traffic. Great work on this article.

  59. Yea! I agree with this post…Stumble drives more traffic than others if you have many followers!

  60. I read your article Stumbleupon is really a good social networking site and book marking sites. it very helful. thank you for sharing.

  61. I agree with your points because I used to get decent traffic from Stumbleupon, also I would like to try this “You should use StumbleUpon for your posts ideas; it will help you in developing appropriate content as per your visitor’s interest”

    1. SU can be a great source for post ideas but as you know we need to make sure that we don’t sound monotonous and content should be fresh & clean.

  62. I love Stumbleupon. I use it on my tablet to relax in the evening. I usually find myself going tot he same websites in daily life but Stumbleupon always takes me somewhere brand new and unexpected.

I try to consider this when I think what it would be like for others to stumble on my website. Is it immediately fresh and exciting? Well it needs to be.

    1. jake i will suggest you to use commentluv while commenting because it will help other s in reaching to your site. thanks for your comment.

  63. Yes. Stumble upon is still alive! I agree that the visitors are more targeted than they were in the past… if you target them correctly. Not all posts are made for Stumble Upon.

My post on 23 ways to stop complaining and actually my about page still gets regular visitors from there.

But my long editorial posts rarely, if ever, have a stickiness for Stumblers.

    1. James very good point, it is true that every post is meant for a specific segment of audience. Thus, some post may be more popular on SU than others.

Thanks a lot for your valuable input.

  64. Very nice article, Not all submission can drive traffic from stumble. First you need to build a strong stumble profile , It would be nice if you have included that in this post

  65. Thanks abhishek for your addition, it will definitely help others. Though i have included that in my post. you can refer to step 3, but nonetheless, it is a very valid point and asserting it is really helpful.

  66. I was ignoring stumble upon all these days. Good tips 🙂 I have to start using as soon as possible

  67. hye…thanks for the article..i don;t understand how stumbleupon works actually because i used to facebook system more. But i keep sharing my content to stumbleupon daily hoping it can help some audience to stumble my website. I hope it’s work 🙂 wish me luck hehe

  68. I am sing stumbleupon from one year for bookmarking my blog posts but not able to get any traffic. one or two times I got huge traffic. If someone votes on article, there are chances to stand up your article.

  69. Never used StumbleUpon. I have read on many blog that it is a little helpful to make the product viral but not like Facebook and Twitter.

  70. Oh all these days i am sharing my posts only in facebook, twitter, google plus. I ignored stumbleupon. Thanks i will submit to stumbleupon also from now on

  71. I really do agree with you, if you ignore stumble upon you are really decreasing your traffic. Even i used to ignore stumble upon but now i regularly stumble upon.Once i got 12k visitors from stumble upon in a day.

    1. Thanks Sneha for sharing your experience with us, that’s really encouraging.

  72. I have never really gotten into StumbleUpon that much. I know that I get a fair amount of traffic from it, but no clicks. I just don’t understand what people get out of bouncing from one website to the next.????

  73. Just bookmarking any site is enough ? How does it reach other people ? Am new to stumbleupon and wish to hear some explanations from you

    1. Srini i have mentioned that in my post that rules of the game remain same, you need to socialize, interact with fellow bloggers in your niche and once you have a network, bookmarking will yield but if you are not in the network and bookmarking, then it won’t have much of impact.

Thanks for your comment Srini, hope to listen more.

  74. That’s a good point that I hadn’t considered, that the users of Stumblupon are searching for stuff to read and will likely read yours if they find you. I’ve used it a bit but very sporadically and I didn’t feel the categories were very granular – nothing for public speaking, nothing for business networking – both things I write about. But maybe I will add more tags and give it another shot.

    1. well that’s true they don’t have very specific categories but yes, you can use tags to workaround. Thanks Roz for sharing your views about it.

  75. I’m guilty of ignoring StumpleUpon, it does look like it generates a decent amount of traffic. No idea how it works though so I’ll have to do some more research as well.

    1. Hey Hadley, it’s never too late, you can use tips given in this post and do some research on your own and implement them. I am sure you will have encouraging results. And yes, don’t forget to share your experience with us.

      Thanks for your comment.

  76. Stumbleupon is a great social media site if it is used properly. It can generate millions of traffic. I am also using stumbleupon but also not using it properly. I think I should follow the above tips to get more benefit of stumbleupon. thanks for sharing the needful tips.

  77. Agree with many of the other comments in that, whilst StumbleUpon does bring you some occasional blasts of traffic, the visitors only stay for a very short time frame..then leave, which will lead to a higher bounce rate…(so the traffic quality is quite poor.)..

Also, having just gone back to update my profile and check out what’s the latest on Stumbler, it seems that as other have mentioned, StumbleUpon tends to lean towards Celebrity, fashion, etc blogs and interests….

So, I guess the amount of work and interaction needed, will depend on a persons site topic….

I do like the new interface of StumbleUpon, and I give them a big “thumbs up” for that!

  78. I’m trying stumble upon since last 5 months but not working in way i was expecting. may be it requires some more months.

  79. I have always ranked Stumbleupon well and it has given me good results in past. You have given valid points and it encouraged me to do more. Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts.

  80. I used Facebook and twitter to increase my traffic , i don’t know about the benefit of stumble upon. After reading this blog I know that it’s the more sweetable for getting traffic than any other. I will try to use for getting visitor to my site. Thank.

  81. Hi Akhilendra, Nice article! I agree that SU can drive more traffic towards the blog, however I have seen bounce rate is much higher compared to other social networking sites such as Facebook and twitter.
    Thanks for the post 🙂

  82. Thats true Chaitanya, there could be issues with bounce rate but as it can deliver good traffic if it fits in your social media marketing schedule, i think it worth. Thanks a lot for sharing your feedback.

  83. This is really helpful and To be honest I really didn’t understand very much about StumbleUpon until you wrote this out. Thanks so much! I’m headed over there now.

  84. I am using stumbleupon for 2 months, but i didn’t get any good traffic from this site and i can’t add my pages in stumbleupon as well.

I have a question that is stumbleupon better than pinterest? If yes, then tell me some pointers to add my article in stumbleupon and how to raise its page rank if it is a do-follow website.

Kindly , help me as soon as possible.

    thank you

    1. Hi Gaurav, it may take a while for you to get good response from Stumbleupon. As far as pointers are concerned, i have mentioned them in my post so i will request you go through them which include creating a good profile, following others, using SU extension and so on. As far as Pinterest is concerned, i will say at the moment Pinterest have upper hand as far as it’s comparison to SU is concerned. I will suggest you to also look at Google+ along with facebook and twitter for your social media needs.

You need to analyse your traffic (from social) trend. You should focus more on sites which are currently working for you. So if you are good on Pinterest and then try to take that to next level while putting efforts on other social sites.

Thanks a lot for your question and please let me know if you have any other specific question.

  85. You are right, I can hardly find a post about stumble upon. Every one talk about Facebook and Twitter. Thanks for the great tips you have mentioned, they will help me a lot in stumbling 🙂
