Chrome Extension ScribeFire is a Blog Editor

ScribeFire is “a full-featured blog editor lets you easily post to all of your blogs“! I’m glad this extension has been added to the Google Chrome Extensions library, and it seems that Firefox users are already familiar with it. You can post to all of your blogs regardless of platform including Blogger, WordPress, Posterous, Tumblr, etc. directly from ScribeFire. I recorded a video demo to let you in on how to set it up and show you nice tip you I think you’ll like.

This video tutorial demonstrates the following features of Scribefire:

  • How to navigate the ScribeFire dashboard
  • How to add your blog to ScribeFire
  • How to create a post in ScribeFire
  • How to generate the HTML code that hyper-links to an image banner
  • How to use ScribeFire to align an image in a text widget on WordPress or an image gadget on Blogger

Let me know if you have any questions and what you think about using ScribeFire or any of the other Chrome extensions for blogging.

It’s not as good on Chrome as it is on Chrome because it doesn’t do split screen. Whereas in Firefox you can do split screen mode and see what’s in the browser window as you type.

Hey Drew, thanks for letting me know. I never use Firefox, but it seems like most of the developers are migrating their extensions over to Chrome now.

Ileane, I have used Scribefire on Firefox for a long time. I love it. I write so many post a day for several blogs & can post straight from Scribefire. I only log into each blog maybe once a day to approve or delete comments. Blogs that don’t accept comments, I only log into if there are updates to be done & normally my guy catches those before I do.

I do not use Chrome for a few reasons but, one is because I like my Firefox scribefire much better.

Yes, the split adjustable screen is the only way to go. I can pull up my Scribefire, see any web page that I am on, even switch pages while still having scribefire sit in the lower 1/2 of my monitor. It makes it great because I can then just switch pages..highlight text & link to whatever page I am viewing at the time.

The old way I did it meant I had to have 1 monitor with the web page & a word doc on the other monitor – I got tired of looking back & forth, copy & pasting links….

If you get into power post linking..Scribefire is a must have.

Wow Wendy, l am getting an education on how ScribeFire works with Firefox. I’ll keep checking with the developers to see when they add these features to Chrome. I think my use of ScribeFire will be limited to creating HTML scripts like the example I demoed in the video for now. Thanks for the visit!

Hey Ileane,

Google Chrome is definitely my favorite browser, but I use Firefox for some of the Web applications (Firebug, etc). I don’t know why anyone would still be using Internet Explorer–it’s so slow!

Great tutorial BTW, what software do you use to make YouTube tutorials like this?

Hi Jay, I’ll be really happy when they make Firebug for Chrome! Do you think it will ever happen? For this screencast I used Screencast-o-matic Pro, but I also use Screenr. You can check out my demo of Screenr on YouTube

I have used ScribeFire before on FireFox, particularly when I was using blogger. the reason why I used it is because if I had an idea while browsing all I had to do was open the extension, stick in there whatever struck me and bam. Now, I have to admit that I have not yet fully migrated to Chrome primarily because I use a lot of addons that are not yet available over there. It is good to know that it is now available from Chrome as well. Good tip and nice video. BTW, that thing about creating a link via an image is cool.

Hey DiTesco, you just made my day! Thanks for letting me know that you enjoyed the video. I understand that the Firefox version of ScribeFire is more robust, but I’ll take what I can get for now.

This is the first time I heard of this extension, maybe it is because I use Firefox and I only have 2 blogs to take care of. Your blog will be my destination when Chrome is better than Firefox. :)

Hi Tek3D, this extension is available for Firefox and the Firefox version has more features. I don’t mind being your Chrome extension resource. Thanks

I use Live Writer primarily to create and publish posts to all my blogs, I haven’t tried scribefire yet.

Hi Justin, I used ScribeFire to create guest posts too. Yesterday I did one called The Absolute Best Block Party and the only thing my friend Kissie needed to do was resize the images. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Ileane,

I used to use Scribefire when I was using Firefox. It was great as I wrote more often. Now that it’s on Chrome, I think I’ll have more posts done too. :) I still need FF for some addons but my FF crashes oftentimes. It’s nice to know that SF is now on Chrome! :)

Hi c5, I’m curious what are some of the Firefox extensions that you can’t find on Chrome? I know that Firebug is one that Chrome is lacking. The frequent crashes on FF are responsible for driving Chrome’s acceptance.
