How To Get More Views on YouTube With Better Analytics

YouTube continues to command the attention of users across the globe with each fiscal quarter seeing huge increases in market share. Bloggers and marketers are paying attention too and uploading videos that show off their products and establish their expertise in the hopes of attracting an avalanche of new visitors to their websites.
Increase YouTube views
Every minute of the day 100 hours worth of video is being uploaded to YouTube. To top it off, studies show that more that 64% of  people are more likely to make a buy after watching an explainer video.

Yet the truth of the matter is that many people fail to capitalize on the YouTube craze because they simply can't get enough views on their videos.

This is why video optimization is critical to your success on the second most popular search engine on the planet – a.k.a., YouTube.

UPDATE: Some of the tools listed here are no longer available. Check out TubeBuddy instead.

Optimizing YouTube Videos & Channel

In comparison to blogging, video optimization offers some unique challenges. We all know that the search engine bots can't “read” your video content in the same way that they can devour the written content in your blog posts.

As a result, it's important for us to do all we can to optimize the titles, tags and descriptions of our channels and for the individual videos from the YouTube Watch Page.

Don't miss: Now That You Starting Making Videos Here's How To Get More Views on YouTube

You can turn to YouTube Analytics to track the performance of the videos that you have previously uploaded and this will give you fantastic insights. Based on the Views Reports and Audience Retention reports, you'll get a good idea of what you're doing right and where you have gone horribly wrong.

In this video, I'll introduce you to three additional ways you can track the progression of your YouTube efforts. Please watch this:

Get More Views on YouTube By Tracking Video Traffic 3 Ways

3 Alternatives for YouTube Analytics

#1. OneLoad is formerly known as TubeMogul and it's a service that allows you to upload videos to multiple sites at once including YouTube of course but recently they even added Facebook. When it comes to getting traffic and exposure, we all know that every little bit helps and I've always uploaded my videos to sites like MetaCafe and Daily Motion through OneLoad, primarily because it takes very little additional effort. Now that OneLoad has included Facebook in their video arsenal I'm able to upload some of my more popular videos directly to Facebook which increases my page's Edge Rank and visibility in the news feed.

OneLoad Stats in Excel

It was easy for me to copy and paste the stats from OneLoad directly into an Excel Spreadsheet that I can sort by date, title or view counts.

#2. Cyfe is the new kid on the block so to speak and it's a really cool widgetized dashboard. Here's how they describe themselves:

“All-In-One Dashboard Social media, analytics, marketing, sales, support, infrastructure… monitor everything!”

Cyfe can replace a lot of the monitoring tools that you are using now, but in this video I show specific examples of how you can set up Cyfe for YouTube tracking and optimization.

#3. SocialBlade is far from being a newcomer. They are a powerful network of YouTubers with an established blog, forum and online community with chat capabilities. They have nearly 120,000 subscribers to their YouTube channel and they know how more about how to survive the YouTube game than most.SocialBlade

I highly recommend that you subscribe to their channel and connect with them on Facebook and Google+ as well. To date I haven't joined their network but I've been impressed with the valuable content they provide to the YouTube community.

Enter the user name of any user to get the YouTube View Count for the channel's recent and top 25 videos. Find those videos with similar content, that are outranking yours on YouTube and use the handy little tip I shared in the video above (time stamp 07:22) to optimize your video metadata.

Now is Your Time to Shine

I want to see you succeed online and we can always find ways to take things to the next level. If you've been wavered and procrastinating about getting in front of the camera, rest assured that you really don't need to. I recorded scores of screencasts that send plenty of traffic to my blogs. But just like Lisa Irby encouraged me and thousands of others to get in front of the camera I want to encourage you to get started on your video marketing plan. If you want to know what tools I use to record and promote my videos, download a free copy of my YouTube Rankings Assault Kit and let me know if you have any questions on how to optimize your YouTube channel. Don't wait, because the ship is ready to sail and I don't want you to miss the boat!

  7. Now there are several plugins you can display your YouTube channel on your WorldPress blog as separate category with lot of ease in navigation. The widely acclaimed reality is that your videos are one of the best sources to bring more traffic on your blog. In this way you become less reliant on search engines which are most unreliable after Google Panda and Penguine

    1. Hi Edson,

The plugin that I’m currently using that works with YouTube videos is called LeadPlayer. I’m really fond of it and I like the way it’s helping me build my email list and get more YouTube subscribers.

  14. Ileane,

I KNOW you know what you’re talking about. Believe me, when I really get on the YouTube boat, I’ll be back over here at BBT to gather up all the wisdom, advice, and humor you’ve shared about the Tube. Meanwhile, I just point people here … LOL

  16. I have been wondering what happened to TubeMogul all this time, so thank you for updating that it has changed its name. Like you, I’ve always appreciated its capability to help us upload videos in many portals at the same time. Plain awesome tool, if you ask me. 🙂

I haven’t heard of the the other 2 alternatives though but would look into its effectiveness. Thanks for the share, Ms. Ileane!

I’ve left the above comment on the IM social networking site, Kingged.com, where your article has been shared and “Kingged”.

    1. Hi Riza,

TubeMogul is one of my all time favorite tools for video marketing. I help me keep active on sites like Flickr and now I’m really excited that they added Facebook!

  17. Those are really nice tools Ileane. In particular, I like One Load a lot. A few months ago I used to have a list of 10 sites where I should upload my videos. For each video I’ll manually visit those sites in the list and get them done one by one. And the process was quite tedious and I slowly stopped uploading to other sites except Youtube.

Now One Load is a life saver 🙂 Thanks again!

  18. Just saw this post and heard your latest podcast on tips on social media, both include one load service…I am only using youtube at this point of time but does it make a huge difference in terms of visibility to load on other sites? which other sites you are using other than youtube and facebook?

  19. These are too much great information, the more personal you be with audience the more people will love your video and more important to do what you really, so the power can really shine.

    1. Hi Ferb,
I noticed that you are concentrating more on YouTube video marketing lately. How are things going for you with it?
      Thanks for the comment.

  20. This is nice as you tube have traffic from every where and there are so many people who watch videos to understand thing rather than reading so I think I must take that chance.

  26. Hi Ileane,

    Wonderful insight,

YouTube is a worlds second traffic engine and your tips will help to get targeted audience in to the videos.

  27. Youtube is great for traffic these days, but i still think you need to create your own videos and really be good in it, I have tried to do it myself but i could not, i tried to hire people to make me some videos and it did not work. The main issue here is to create a very attracted and topic interest videos.

    1. Jossef,
I would like to offer some advice, you need to keep making more videos. It’s just like blogging – nothing happens overnight. Just keep uploading videos and optimizing your channel and you will get results.

  28. I could say one thing the impact of visualization is very high then reading sommething. It is in this scenario reading<audio<audio-visual impact will be more and hence in case of video where you are using your body language and audio to explain will definetly going to have more impact on the viewership and will increase the sales.

    1. Hi Elizabeth, I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with. You will find a whole new audience on YouTube.

  29. I don’t have more idea about Analytics in detailed of YouTube but in my experience Youtube and Vimeo helped me a lot for Video Marketing. I Uploaded around 6-7 videos till now and my views count on my videos is quite good. I think, you should just focus your original description with good keywords if you want good views on YouTube.

  30. Rajkumar Jonnala

    Hey Ileane,
I prefer OneLoad for analytic. I used to embed my video tutorials in my blog posts too. That is pretty nice way to get more views on my video too.
And monetization is always there for videos too.
So, Is there any plugin for wordpress that could track the analytic of embedded videos?

    1. Hi Rajkumar,

Yes, LeadPlayer tracks the Analytics, but you need to login to Google Analytics to see those stats. You can also use it to grow your email list or display a call to action for your viewers. I’m using LeadPlayer and getting great results. It’s a premium plugin and if you want to give it a try, please use this link.
