But if you‘re not a coder how can you create these free tools and build tons of links. The best solution I have found to this problem is vworker.com (virtual worker).

I myself know only a little bit of coding and have used vworker and I have found it particularly good.
- Make your tool user friendly and easy to navigate, think non-computer users and start there
- Promote your tool like mad; creating press releases, video tutorials etc. would be very useful
- Require a security word verification code to be entered or you will be inundated with spam
- Constantly try to improve and upgrade the tool
- Make sure links to your content based pages are highly visible and promoted
- Test out requiring an email address to use the tool and promote your site to the email list, if that doesn‘t work switch back to without email

I came to know Mark Collier from the Website Babble Webmasters Forum. When he asked to interview me for this ebook I gladly accepted the invitation. During the interview I share my views on topics like
Mark has done an excellent job of focusing on ethical link building techniques and gathering many of the key players in the field.
Let me explain why. The other day my friend Brankica from Live Your Love did a post called Human Spammer – How to lose your reputation as a blogger and get banned the easy way. Brankica exposed one her commenters who stooped so low in order to get backlinks, that he was leaving the same comment over and over again. Turns out, he was doing the same thing on many of our blogs! This blogger ended up getting banned from several blogs and he has suffered a serious blow to his reputation.
My point is this – don’t get caught up in chasing backlinks in ways that can hurt you in the long run. It’s very important for young bloggers to practice caution and not outsource tasks like blog commenting (read Brankica’s post!).

First thing first, I followed this link from this part:

Second, thanks Ileane for mentioning me, I am still getting comments on that post, I guess most people don’t like being used like that.
And third, let me comment on the post itself. It is very nice to see so many great names in the book. I am using only white hat stuff to build backlinks and no links are worth loosing reputation, PR or just getting on bad side of some bloggers.
I learned a lot when I started with SBI and I am sticking to keeping it real and not using automated tools. Not only it is better and more fair but also you won’t end up paying for some shady tactics.

Good article on link building. I always use a number of strategies at one time to insure a good variety of links. More importantly, I stick with it for several months in order to build several quality backlinks.

I might have to check that out as I am always looking for different ways to build more backlinks.
Did you know that in 2011 Google is actually discrediting links in the footer. Links that are higher on the page will have so much more authority. Also, social media (such as Facebook and Twitter are updated into Googles new algorithm.)

We’re not really sure though, how much weight link building will have for SEO for 2011. Google is talking about an overhaul of sorts, putting a premium on social media’s influence on SEO.

Great, trust me and Ileane there is tons possibly too much content in the book.
Most eBook marketers say you only need 50-70 pages to sell an eBook once you market it right. But that didn’t seem right to me, if you are going to charge more than a normal book (because of the highly niche content that wouldn’t justify publishing) then you should deliver with lots of high quality content.

thats something that i have not thought of before. i have never expected a free online tool to get so many backlinks. but still there are many black hat methods available, and also yahoo inlinks is not a correct indicator of the backlinks. try webmaster tools.
Well free tools is certainly not black hat seen as you aren’t even creating the links, your happy users are (how cool is that).
And whether Yahoo Site Explorer is a valid one or not is sort of redundant because the point is that this free tool did get lots of links.

I am totally clueless with regards to coding, so your suggestion of creating my own tool may not be possible for me unless I exert more effort learn even just the basics. Webmasters know that as we work online, we must at least equipped ourselves useful tools to keep us going!

This is a huge deal to me, as well. I cannot stand it when I see those ignorant ads for “so many links for so much money!!!” They are not genuine and natural, like Google wants to see them. They are a waste of time. And after you fall for a trick like that, Google is not going to take you seriously!

Good point, backlinks don’t just service an SEO benefit but also generate a lot of direct traffic too. When I evaluate how a particular link building strategy is working for me I focus on the traffic the links are passing not the PageRank they might be passing.
Link building shouldn’t be a chore, there are so many link building strategies that involve much of the same techniques and skills as blogging, in particular article marketing and guest blogging.
So if you like blogging (which you should if you are a blogger) then link building should be great fun! and generate results too.

There are only a few you need to pay attention too. Other than that I wouldn’t bother with most of them. Here is a link of ones that will help:

I tend to add them slowly, and have my keywords towards the start of my description. Also for Yahoo, DMOZ, Business, BOTW.org make sure you use the title of you site url or you will get rejected.
As time goes on the links grow stronger and catches Googles eye and help push you up in the search engines.

Some paid directories do warrant the investment if you have the marketing budget and a quality site to back it up such as Yahoo Dir.

Thanks for the positive feedback, you really got my point about outsourcing, people forget they don’t have to do it all by themselves.
For example with my landing page for Link Building Mastery, I knew it needed a great design and I tried so hard to do it myself. Then when Glen Allsopp one of the 15 experts I interviewed for the eBook saw it he just said you won’t make any sales with that and told me to hire a designer to do it for me.

Like you said, Link Building is very important nowadays. Having backlinks is one of the most important things for a website, having backlinks raises the PageRank of the website that has those backlinks. You can create backlinks by submitting your website to online web directors, to lots of search engines, link exchange and lots of other methods. It’s highly recommended for a webmaster to focus on backlinks as much as possible, assuring lots of backlinks for a website equals having visitors – customers. I also don’t recommend using mass submitters to web directories/search engines and so on, mass submitting equals lots of backlinks, in the eyes of Google lot of backlinks in short time means SPAM. Manual submitting to the web directors that you want and the search engines that you want is better.

Dead right Maria, all the 86 link building strategies are totally ethical. In fact right now I’m in the process of reworking the sales page so that it focusses more on the ethical side of the eBook.
