Last year, Twitter made status updates no-follow so you don’t get link juice from links you post in your status. However, I have heard that some applications that are used to post to Twitter have proven a way around this. Can I get a do-follow link when posting with HootSuite. If so, is the link as strong? Twitter is a page rank 9 site and I want to make sure it is being profitable to post links through an app.

Hi Ileane,

The main reason I switched has to do with the idea of “downloading” transient information to my hard drive. After all, if it’s available on someone else’s server, why duplicate it? I switched from Thunderbird email to Gmail for a similar reason. I know there is a big difference in permanence between tweets and email, but I’ll take my chances in the cloud.

Performance-wise, I may be giving TweetDeck short shrift; however, I just wasn’t seeing all of the tweets that were showing up on the Twitter.com home page.

I hope I like HootSuite, too, since I made a unilateral decision to uninstall TweetDeck! LOL

Jan Geronimo first twisted my arm into using Hootsuite. I was feeling cranky at the time and kind of burnt out on trying all the new “stuff” out there. I had a few cups of coffee, reminded myself that Jan had never led me astray (well, “never” might be too strong a word), and tried Hootsuite. Now I can’t imagine Twitter without it. When I log into the regular Twitter interface, it seems simplistic and naked.
