How To Get Past The Noise And Get Noticed In The Blogging World?

Blogging folks, tell me, if you have common sense that is, is there ever any smoke without fire, ants without sugar and flies without dirt?

No, right!

Then how do you expect to be noticed unless you have something, which will indeed get you noticed? Unless you have that extra something, a certain amount of blogging appeal and yes, lots of material to back you up, being noticed in the world of blogging is tough mate.

However, it is not very “un-doable”. After all, since so many bloggers and their blog posts are noticed, how is it that yours will not?get past the noise in blogging

For that however, you do have to follow some norms and a particular design so that flies, ahem, readers get attracted to your posts and therefore you blog.

Controversy and gossip in blogging

Since this is not exactly a very formal piece of work, be ready to tweak some rules and get in accord with people interested in what you have to say.

For starters, learn how to blend the normal with the controversial. Trust me; nothing works like a bit of gossip does. Nevertheless, keep the nature of your content simple and sober. However, a bit of dry humor and tongue in the cheek posts are also invited occasionally.

Also, do not forget that you are not the only one who is writing about your subject of choice. There are indeed millions of bloggers who will inevitably write about the same topic. It is therefore up to you to present the matter in a manner, which will poke people to read it, even if means adding some drops of petrol to the fire!

Bonding with your Readers

Your readers should be very precious to you since they are the ones who will read, share, and comment and encourage others to read your blog posts. So invite them in with open arms and be very particular to respond to their respective queries or suggestions.

If your blog helps you to earn money, make sure you tell people at least a part about it. In addition, yes, do not forget to do some charity work with the money that you earn. For one, nothing works like a humanitarian approach. So go ahead, involve people in this, and watch how your blog posts steadily are read.

Do not be expressionless while responding to them. If your readers think that you have made a mistake, modestly own up. There is simply no harm in throwing them some bones. Add some meat to it by inviting your readers to write for your blog as well.

Make sure that you have a column, a day, or a time of post, which will feature guests’ take on several things. This will also help you to get a fresh take on several topics and who knows, you might also be able to come up with something unique.

Get connected with your fellow bloggers. This will help you to expand the reach and read of your posts at least tenfold. Ask them to contribute in your blog posts as this might encourage them to do the same. This step will give them a chance for exposure and will give you an enhanced chance of exposure to newer avenues as well.

In addition, yes, be regular my dear problogger. Try to understand how your readers take out time in order to read what you have written. Try your best not to disappoint them. So set a date, a day or the week perhaps when whatever happens, they will get to read your post.

Write your posts in a simple, racy language. You have to understand that you are writing for a global audience and that includes people from different cultures. Try not to be too strong or too biased about what you have to say. Keep it short and simple. There is no use in dragging them endlessly just for the sake of it.

Tricks for blogging and web exposure

Not that endless harping is needed, but reminding you some tips will be all right I guess. Pack in enough links related to your posts so that your readers can gain fresh knowledge about it.

Also, make sure that your blog shows up in the web search results. You should be aware that people do not like to grope around much. They grab what comes first, so make your blog SEO rich and enjoy your blogging.

  1. Getting noticed in the blogosphere is an art. And, mastering this art makes you a ProBlogger.

Create awesome content, and always try to give your readers more than what they want. So, below are the few thing which can make you unique:

1# Present your content in an absolutely different and unique way.

2# Write controversial post and prove some existing things wrong, occasionally.

3# Bond with your readers and answer their every query.

4# Offer solutions to your readers via your blog posts.

5# Be honest and be transparent while writing blog posts.

Finally, don’t overdo or over-optimize your articles with SEO. Write for your readers instead of search engines, if you want to make a long-term and viable blog.

Thanks Jane for covering such an interesting topic.

    1. Your last comment regrading over-optimizing is a great reminder. Connecting with your audience is really the best policy and at the heart of everything we do… It’s easy to get caught up in all the SEO stuff, but it changes so quickly. The best way to navigate the constant SEO changes is to NOT… continually publishing great content for your readers and engaging with them is the best way. Thanks for the reminder. I don’t think it could be restated enough!

    2. Helping people out as much as possible and being honest surely helps to stand out as these become a rarity these days!

      1. the blogging is risky for some times if you buy a url and visitors not interested what you write on script then it must be an boring story..

  2. ” Ants Without Sugar ” : All around the wall.
” Unless you have that extra something” : I am born special, actually everyone is..

    Ok to muck joookes.
The best way to get noticed in-front of other bloggers is to stand out among them. This means having a professional theme, logo. Giving your readers a home like feeling ( exactly what I learned from one your post at probloggingsucess ).

Then its important to share what your readers want. But it doesn’t means you should write articles on low ” Globally searched ” keywords. ( I mean writing whole 700 words, just because few of your readers want that )

Relationship : The best way is social networking.
Bloggers, blokube, scoop.it, bloginteract etc places. Twitter, facebook, G Plus, Reddit.

Finally at last you said ” make your blog SEO rich “. Sorry but I don’t agree to you. I am little bit confused what you really meant by Rich. Keywords or quality content.

Today rather than creating seo rich articles, if you take care of engagement, then you will see much better results.

    Great Article Thanks..

    1. Well put Vivek. And I’m glad you learned from my blog post about make your readers feeling home. Recently I feel that this is one of the crucial factors for conversions – from my opinion, that is. I take action on those blogs where I feel home.

  3. Hey Jane,
I know you are always able to give up something worth spending time on. Kudos for these useful tips. No blogger wants to be the only reader of his/her blog. We all want exposure and popularity but the noise and entanglements are so overwhelming.

One thing I have noticed in recent times that works so well is social sharing. Personally, I have wanted to know more about some bloggers because they kept sharing my articles. So the more we help expose others, the more we are exposed. Don’t be stingy and selfish. Desire and work out the success of others and watch how you too succeed .

  4. Hi Jane, Just enjoyed reading your awesome article.

I noticed in numerous blog articles having controversial conversations going around just the visitors and also few blog owners react personally! But if there’s something against to the blog guidelines like making use of harsh words, blog owner has the right to remove the comment! It’s that straightforward!

    Regards,
    Amrik Virdi

    1. Well said Amrik. Being straightforward and taking actions not only reduces trolls from abusing genuine blogs but also gives other people of the community a very nice feeling!

  5. Thanks Jane for the guest article here at basicblogtips.

    Getting noticed takes work.

Mostly from work of connecting with fellow bloggers and asking them to share your content.

    1. Sam you’re right. Networking really takes time and effort. It is indeed hard work.

  6. Good article. I think you really have to combine original, fresh content on popular or hot topics. Be creative with your subject lines to get more eyes on your blog. Social is a great way to build your following.

  7. Nice post!!

Quite agree on the point about adding some controversy to your writing. You indeed want the readers to come back and the best way is to write more often.

    Thanks for sharing!

  8. Hey Jane,
    Excellent intro.
Writer about controversial topics is not everyone`s work. One need to be very clear about what he is writing, is he ready to face the reaction good or bad.

These are few things which I though to share.

    ~@khajamoin1

    1. You’re right Khaja, not everyone could do this right without some practice. Of course we should be really prepared to face negative and arrogant comments and responses while writing a controversial topic.

  9. After creating blog next step is SEO
So Platinum SEO is a best way to optimize your blog it enable your blog on first page of search engine with’n less time

  10. Hi Jane,
Getting noticed is always the trick, but whether your path is controversy, humor, or something else, the most important thing in the blogosphere is to be yourself. Anything else is just too exhausting. (And readers will know the difference.)

    1. Heather, you got it right. Just being ourself will suffice for the most part. No mimicking needed.

  11. It’s important, I think, not to expect too much, too soon. Just like in any industry, overnight successes are the exception and not the rule. No matter how amazingly awesome your content/product/talent is, you have to keep putting yourself and your work out there day after day in order to eventually get noticed. Thanks! 🙂

  12. In order to sand out, we need to create the right content and the right connections. If we don’t communicate with others in our niche, it would be quite hard to get something noticed.

  13. Thanks for sharing these nice tips. I think to get noticed in blogging, unique content and interaction with audience is most necessary.

  14. Carl, yes, but if you do it YOUR way from the start, people will recognize you much quicker.

  15. Jane,

in order to stand out, we must elevate over the noise. The way to do it is just to “scratch the record”, so people pay attention to what you want to say. I think that the title (headline) is of the most importance. Then, of course, we provide a valuable information.

Thank you for the timely insights. 🙂

    1. Headline plays a crucial role these days, especially given that people are extremely busy and have short attention span.

  16. Interesting blog post. I personally don’t like gossip and things like that but I rather try to stand out by providing tips that really bring results for my readers so that they are happy about the progress that they are making.
It’s still hard for me to draw attention to my blog and what I say, but I think that if I keep going with posting helpful content and listening to the needs of my readers, it will happen.
I post “controversial” discussion-oriented posts sometimes, but they have not yet brought me the results I was hoping for. Thank you for this article.

    1. Hey Saskia, try controversial + hot topics. May be you’re not writing what people are busily looking for?

  17. I also think that unless one has that extra something, its going to be extremely hard to get to the top of the blogging world. There are so many bloggers out there but only a few make it and they are the ones who go that extra mile.

  18. I think the controversial aspect has been done to death a little. Unless a blog is built upon that, i would leave that aspect alone. I believe its better to become a unique authority within a field with an eccentric edge to it instead.

  19. Great tips! Do you recommend focusing a larger chunk of time in doing SEO and getting exposure, or on creating better content so that people end up sharing it on their own? Which one is better approach for a new blogger with very few readers?

    Thanks for sharing this!

  20. Good Day to You Enstine,

I’m in the process of preparing a WordPress static website.

The flexibility of WordPress is impressive and the idea of being able to have static pages and also be able to allow comments, even a blog page in the mix is amazing.

Thank you for your straight forward approach to this problem and sharing the solution!

I just subscribed to your posts.

Hopefully, my project can become as valuable.

    By Best to You
    Arth

  21. Hi Jane,
Just enjoyed reading your awesome article. The most favorite thing of many bloggers around is to create controversy. I don’t like being involved or starting a controversial topics though it can prove to be beneficial to me.
Instead I love to work on the 2nd point you mentioned – bonding with other bloggers. That’s the main aim that I am working on. Building relationship with as many bloggers as I can and take the maximum benefit out of it.
Thanks for the great post. Cheers 🙂

  22. Writing about controversies will really help a blogger get noticed but it should be well-written and it should be nice because if it is not good it may backfire and become a negative publicity.

  23. Bonding with other bloggers is very important. It helps to recognize you rapidly among the bloggers. I do comments to engage with them 🙂

  24. Hey Jane, I always love to read your posts.

I do agree with you on that sharing with your readers a part of your earning secrets from your blog will make them feel good. As a reader of a blog is everything, so we need to do anything to make them happy and to encourage them to stick around.

    1. How we treat our readers can really make or break our business 🙂 Thanks for the comment Ehsan!

  25. In today’s world all people want to get noticed and has to earn fame. But it’s a very difficult task. As in our blogosphere, it’s also the same. All we have to put some points in mind before writing any articles like,
    1. The heading should be clear as glass that the reader should understand that what you are going to say by heading only.
    2. Stuck on topic, don’t just mash up all other things which are unnecessary.
    3. Easy and fluent English that the reader can understand, don’t use technical language.
    4. Master conclusion.

Thanks for sharing this awesome article !!!

    Regards,
    Sohil Memon.

  26. Creating a bond with your readers is definitely a great way of ensuring their returns. The percentage of your returning visitors should be an indication of how much you are relating with your site visitors.

  27. At the end of the day it will depend on your niche and finally content. If you have awesome content then you will stand out.

  28. Surely these are amazing ways to get noticed, Engaging with readers and other bloggers seems to have helped alot.
Thank God for facebook and twitter

  29. i think bonding with your blog readers is much more important than anything else. with so much social media and search engine algo changes, only this thing will work only.

  30. With SEO the basics are always the same, Ravi. If we take it too seriously then we must make changes as often as the search engine rules change.

TIP: Keep post simple and easy for readers to skim through.

  36. content is the king but i think seo holds the key in today’s world as unless until your content is discovered, it’s quality remains immaterial. So, good content packed with good seo tactics would yield better results.

  37. It’s all about relationships… Building relationships with your readers brings them back again and again…

  40. Hi Jane,

I love this post; I came across it while scrolling through the posts on BizSugar.com. I agree; you definitely have to be original and unique to stand out in the blogging world. There’s millions of other blogger who write about the exact same things, yet only a small percentage of them are actually noticed.

I’ve been under the radar in the blogging/IM niche for years. I’ve just relaunched my blog a month ago and I’m just now starting to get noticed and some recognition in the blogosphere. I attribute that to my new found vision for where I want to take my blogging business and finally letting go of the norms and going against the grain.

I love your writing style and your tone. You definitely have what it takes to stand out. Thanks for sharing your insight. I appreciate it!

    Ti

  41. I must admit. It seems to be very hard getting noticed and building up a reputation as a blogger especially when you are in as specialized of a niche that I am in. It is sometimes disheartening. But I will follow the advice and persist.

  42. Very useful article, it can get rather noisy on the internet. I enjoy your writing style, very concise and to the point. Everyone says that amazing content is the key to blog success, so I’m trying to just focus on that, seems like a good tactic.

  43. Hi Jane,

    Commendable post..

I have read many articles of your’s before also and love to read them as in every article there is something new to learn.

In this article you have thrown some light on charity. I wanted to ask how can charity help us..??

  44. Great post.

Somry useful tips in here for someone like myself just getting going.. I’ve already seen some good success and I understand it’s a long-play game… it’s exciting!

    Brendan

  45. I agree with Andy about both your writing style (very good) and also about the key to generating traffic and also getting your blog noticed is to start off with good and quality content, just posting crap probably wont cut it anymore. Anyway thanks for this info, very useful.

  46. Hi jane,

Glad to read your inspiring post here, and i liked the last line mostly in the whole article where you’ve mentioned that readers pickup first search result so we need to get top and get pickuped.

    thanks

  47. I love this post. I agree; you definitely have to be original and unique to stand out in the blogging world. There’s millions of other blogger who write about the exact same things, yet only a small percentage of them are actually noticed.

  48. Hi Jane!!

  50. When a professional writer, start writing on any topic, he must keep in mind that who is the reader of this post. But when a un-professional writer starts writing, he never keeps in mind who is the reader. He is just trying to complete the topic and get free.

I am trying to get out something impress which one change my habits. I want to become a professional writer.

  52. Building a platform is essential. As a writer, I’ve heard that a million times. Maybe more. The exhortation usually comes with a few specifics: blog, engage on Facebook and Twitter. Until now I’ve been following that advice blindly, doing what is required to participate in a changing industry.

But, now I have a secret weapon–A platform-building coach in the form of Michael Hyatt’s book, Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World.
