More Targeted Traffic Means More Sales

Does Guest Posting And Blog Commenting Still Work For Generating Targeted Traffic?

Lots of bloggers participate in guest posting in the effort to generate some targeted traffic to their blog. Other bloggers may use blog commenting as a means to generate this targeted traffic.

I am sure that you would agree with me that targeted traffic is one of the best types of traffic that can happen to any blog or website. Targeted traffic can be described as people who come to your blog or website that are truly interested in your site's content and can be a source of incoming traffic to your blog.

My question to you is, Does guest posting and blog commenting still works for generating targeted traffic back to your blog?

My Targeted Traffic Test

I have been running a little underground test for getting targeted traffic to my blog via guest posting and blog commenting. I guest posted and blog commented for a month, then the next month I stopped.

Did my traffic go down? Yes it did. My targeted traffic dropped more than I had imagined.

During the time that I was guest posting and making blog comments I saw where it helped to improve my traffic to targeted web users. In that time period I made over $150 just by getting targeted traffic writing reviews for visitors and selling ads, plus I also got lots of guest bloggers to post on my blog. My subscriber list grew, my Alexa rank improved by 30K and I was very happy to see all this activity on my blog.
Targeted Traffic
You can do the same and get targeted traffic if you participate in guest posting and blog commenting. Here is what you can do…

Guest Posting For Targeted Traffic

I love to gain exposure by means of guest posting. Doing this opens the gates to FREE targeted traffic and all I have to do is write for it. Targeted traffic is what will help to make our blogs successful. Targeted traffic is what helps us to make money from our blogs. So why not participate in guest blogging?

Writing a guest post and submitting it to a blog does not get you targeted traffic just like that. You have to write your guest post in a particular way in order to get this targeted traffic.

Here are a few steps to follow if you want to get targeted traffic through guest blogging:

  • Submit Only Quality Content
You will benefit in the best way when you submit only high quality articles as guest post. When you aim to write top quality content and the readers of that blog loves your article then they will want to read more from you.We all know that quality content is king. Having a kingship article featured on another blog can make you become exposed to free targeted traffic. This is why blog owners will only accept high quality content, because both you and the blog owner will benefit in getting traffic.
  • Link To Related Articles
When you write guest posts you should aim to leave at least two links back to related articles that you have written on your blog. This will help to build backlinks and also get targeted traffic back to your blog from that guest post.Linking back to your related articles can build strong backlinks especially if you use the correct keyword(s) as anchor text. Google also recognizes the importance of backlinks and this will help you to rank in search engine and also your page rank.
  • Fill Out Your Author Bio
When you fill out your author bio it gives your article readers a bit of overview of who you are. In order to generate some targeted traffic back to your blog then you should use your full name and give an interesting biography about yourself.Another interesting point to note is that you should use a profile picture on your author bio. Most blogs use a Gravatar to to display their profile pictures. This is free and easy to do. So be sure to add your profile photo if you want more targeted traffic to your site.
  • Reply To Comments
I have seen guest bloggers submitted guest post to my blog, get comments and not reply to them. This is missing out on free targeted traffic back to their blog.I often email them to ask them why they guest post, and they would reply “to get traffic.” But they fail to get traffic because they still didn't reply to their comments or hardly ever reply to them.I always try to reply to most if not all comments left on my guest post, this is because I want to generate some targeted traffic back to my blog.

Blog Commenting For Targeted Traffic

Blog commenting is one of the best ways to generate hundreds, if not thousands, of targeted traffic to your blog if done correctly. Blog commenting can allow you to acquire a PR of 3 for your blog.

Here are some blog commenting tips:

  • Reply To Comments
As I mentioned in my last point above, replying to comments that your blog readers leave for you opens up the gate ways for targeted traffic. Replying to each comment that you get on your guest post will also help to build up backlinks and will help to increase your page rank.
  • Reply To Comments… Even If You Aren't The Article Author
Another important key point to note is that you can reply to comments made on an article even if you are not the author of that article. This helps with building relationships through blog commenting and builds backlinks. Doing this will help you to generate targeted traffic back to your blog.
  • Leave Up-Building Comments
If you really want to gain targeted traffic back to your blog then you have to make your comments up-building. What I mean is that you have to say more than “thanks” or “wonderful post”. You have to get deep and be more conversational when leaving comments. If the article that you are commenting on has something that you can relate to, then what you can do is give your thoughts and experiences. This will help the author of the article as well as other commentators. Be helpful when you comment and remember to look out for those CommentLuv enabled blogs.

Is Targeted Traffic A Must For Blog Survival?

This question can be looked at from two different angles. The answer can be yes and it can be no.

A blog doesn't need targeted traffic for it to survive. But if you want to make money from your blog then targeted traffic is the best way to go. Getting traffic to your blog that has a genuine interest in your articles and content will make marketing easy.

  1. Guest posting and blog commenting certainly works to attract targeted traffic, but you have use these techniques to show your expertise and value. so that visitors try to find more about you and your blog.

    1. Yep, you have to use techniques in order to pull in more traffic to your blog. You have to also be unique so that people will find your content or comment more appealing.

      Thanks for your comment Aasma.

      1. Hello Karim. I love that this post is about commenting and it got 119 odd comments. SUPER! I am al,so busy with a traffic test. In fact, I’m, testing a lot of theories and strategies I have formulated and will keep you updated. Out of all you said in the post I think, for me, it’s important to add value to the post. That way you pass moderation and people will come and listen to what you have to say.

      2. Kharim what kind of techniques we have to use?? You didnt mention it. Although agree with you about content uniqueness and appealing to visitors.

    2. Guest posting and blog commenting certainly works to attract targeted traffic, but you have use these techniques to show your expertise and value. so that visitors try to find more about you and your blog.

        1. Yes,you are right,be unique or write the useful tips so that other attract from your post or go back to your link.i am doing blog commenting every day and i got many traffic from the blog comment.so both are very good way to get traffic but be unique.

    3. I have also got PR-3 only by doing simple blog commenting. It works for me too. I also want to start guest posting for more authority of our blog.

  2. Hi Kharim, for me both guest posting and blog commenting are the best ways to promote your blog and even if nobody knows you to become popular as a blogger in just a few months or even faster. I use both even thought I should guest post more frequently and actually these 2 ways are those that are responsible for the majority of traffic that I get…

    1. Yep that’s true. When I started out blogging in 2010, I started guest posting in my first month of blogging and I must say that I enjoyed getting traffic from every guest post that I have done from then til now.

Guest posting I can say opens the door to more than just traffic but also new money making opportunities 🙂

      Thanks for the comment Kostas.

  3. Well, some people don’t ever bother to leave some helpful comments to reader and blogger. They will say, ‘thanks, nice post.’

And those people want accumulation of links only. Not even think developing good relationship with the author. They end up spaming.

    Thanks,

    all the best,

    Joseph

    1. I agree with you Joseph. Those types of comments are spammy and quite annoying.

When I just started blogging I used to think that these comments were great, but then I realized that these type of people only wanted to build up links and not relationships.

Thanks as well for your comment Joseph, it was well appreciated.

    2. yeah,
      I agree with you mills,
One should make a point while leaving a comment,
a blog post is like the opinion of author if you have any opinion you can share it while commenting to maintain the flow of conversation,
typing thnx, gret post, carry on will not do……

  4. Guest posting is effective because you get a link back to your site in the content of the post, and this is what matters the most.A link in the sidebar does not carry that much weight anymore.

People who are just starting out with guest posting face one problem, where to get the post published? You should really focus on getting your post published on a blog with at least PR4 that already gets a lot of traffic. This way you will get a powerful link and more readers to your own blog. You will get even more readers if you come back and reply to comments.

The best way (in my opinion) is to work your way up and get a guest posting gig on a few smaller blogs first before pitching bigger sites. This way you have writing samples to show and have a much better change of getting your post published.

    1. Thanks for the comment Tom.

I appreciate what you have commented here. In order to make your mark in the blogging world then you need to guest post on smaller blogs then move on up to bigger blogs.

  5. Totally depends upon the niche on which you are working with. In tech niche blog commenting and all won’t bring you traffic, it might bring some seo value though.

  6. I think it’s a wonderful way to get more traffic and exposure. As long as it is relevant to your niche in some way. I love to get creative with other niches and find a tie-in too. I was just asked yesterday to do one for a children’s type niche and I will use a tie-in to technology for it. As long as you can keep up with your own blog – guest posting is another great tool for exposure and SEO links.

    1. Hey Lisa,

I think that is a great idea to guest post and also comment on blogs that are close related in niche, this way you can tie-in your niche so at to make in look great. I think that I should try that.

      Thanks for the comment.

  7. Hi Kharim, It is nice to hear the results of your test and to know that guest posting and blog commenting worked to get traffic to your site.

In addition, in the current Google slap environment, it may be one of the few legitimate remaining ways to get traffic and links to your site. I always try to reply to the comments to my blog.

I have not tried guest posting yet and do not know how to even get involved in it. Any tips?

    1. Hey Dave, once you establish yourself as a blogger online then you should start guest blogging so that you can make your presence known.

What you can do is look for blogs in your niche and ask the owner if you can guest post.

  8. Besides having a well optimized blog that draws search traffic I don’t know if there is a better way to generate traffic than Guest Blog Posts and Commenting on Blogs…

I’m a heavy commentor and when that drops off I definitely see a drop-off in Traffic. Without a doubt…

Highly encourage everyone to comment on the Blogs they visit. It also shows respect to the Author for the Work they did.

    Thanks!!

    Ryan H.

    1. Blog commenting is a great way to build backlinks for SERPs and also to get targeted traffic to your blog. Many times you will hear or see bloggers saying they are spending hours on blog commenting and I can understand why because this will help to boost their blog.

Thanks for your comment as well.

  9. Hello Kharim,
if you had to choose between guest posting and blog commenting (I only have the time to make one of them), what would you choose? Thanks for the answer.

    1. Hey Heliot9, I must say that both guest blogging and blog commenting goes hand in hand. You have to make time for both of them to work. If you are truly looking for great traffic to your blog then you should participate in both.

What I encourage you to do is set up a schedule and make time for both. If possible then you can guest post once per week or once per two weeks, and whenever you get a chance to make comments then you go ahead and do so.

      That will work for you.

Thanks for the comment as well.

  10. It is a great way to gain traffic and exposure in the social media world. Blog commenting increases the number of audiences hence page rank also increases.

  11. Guest posting can be the quickest method to establish yourself as a blogger in short time. However the quality of posts and the ability to prove that you are expert in that particular field is obviously expected.

    Thanks Kharim for the post.

    1. Yes that is why I mentioned in this article that you should submit your best contents for guest post. This is the best way to get yourself noticed online.

      Thanks for your comment Suresh.

  12. Guest blogging and blog commenting is a must to get the traffic flow towards your blog. You should never stop doing it. Not only does it help in building backlinks but also you are able to interact with a whole new audience and thus your social network can grow.

  13. I think that commenting and guest posting on sites in the same niche can definitely help. Nevertheless, I focus more on creating unique content rather than building backlinks, but I plan to balance these aspects in the near future.

      1. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. You are doing a great job.

  14. I’m glad that worked out for you Kharim. I did my experiment last year and found that my guest post on this blog did almost nothing for me, even though it got tons of responses, but blog commenting does send traffic my way, though I’m not quite sure why. Still, it could come down to niche or intention as well.

    1. Hey Mitch 😀 Glad to see you here commenting.

Well for guest posting to work for you then you have to make sure your content is appealing to the audience that you are writing to. Since this guest post was published I have gotten some traffic from it and this post was my number 1 referral traffic for today already.

Commenting as well gets tons of traffic and thats why most bloggers like that way of generating blog traffic.

Thanks again and keep up the good work.

  15. So the overall impression of this article is- Guest posting and blog commenting does work and bring a lots of targetted traffic to your site. One thing that i want to point out here- If you are commenting on blog – write down regular comments on blogs otherwise writer as well as administrator will not notice you. hence the whole process will became useless.
    ~rakesh kumar

    1. Yes you are right and good point that you have made. Blog commenting and your comments not showing can be effortless and a waste of time.

      Thanks for the comment.

  16. Yes, we also allow guest post on our blog & it really helps us to generate targeted visitors on our website. Guest post doesn’t mean you need to accept each & every guest post on your blog. It should be very clear to your guest writers that you are going to accept post only related to you blog theme.

As far as blog commenting concern, yes we do it. It helps us to generate some targeted readers for our blog. Doesn’t matter blog comment is no follow or do follow. the only thing matters is, Are we commenting some thing relevant? Is our comment have some value in it? etc. Hope you guys like it…

    1. Thanks for the comment. I accept guest posts on my blog as well and reject quite a few because I don’t think what they want to post my readers would be interested in it.

I don’t worry about no follow or do follow, I just want to know my comment is genuine and also my other people see it and come to my blog as well.

  17. I love it when someone actually takes the time to test something rather than just regurgitate what everyone else says. Your test results are not surprising, but it is always nice to have that additional validation.

Guest posting is the one thing I haven’t really done yet. I really need to start doing that.

Anyway great post, I enjoyed it and I am going to check out your blog right now:)

    1. If you don’t guest post then you are missing out on traffic generation opportunities and also link building tactics. You need to try it and see the results that you get.

Thanks for the comment as well.

  18. Blog commenting is not just an effective way of building traffic, but it is also a way of building quality backlinks to your blog.

    -Amrik

  19. The more helpful you can be (and the more useful the information you provide) in both your guest posts and your blog comments, the more you’ll reap the rewards. You mention leaving “up-building” comments, which is so important. You are really trying to contribute to the conversation online, and that will get you more targeted traffic (incrementally, maybe, but every little new visitor is important) as well as increased backlinks.

    1. Up-building comments always works for me. Contributing your opinions and also your points makes your comment stand out and this will surly generate some traffic towards your blog.

Traffic generations through blog commenting is great, free and simple. You just have to put out the effort to start commenting on a daily basis.

      Thanks for the comment Jamie.

  20. well as far as i know about blog commenting, i learnt much out of the discussion in the comments, as people come from different backgrounds and get the same content as per their own knowledge and experience. So in discussion all that mix up to make something useful for the starters to learn and know about the topic under discussion.

  21. Great post, Kharim. I think one of the more overlooked benefits of blog commenting is the insane amount of backlinks that can be generated (should the blog be DoFollow). The more commenting you do, the stronger your PR and search results become – it generates long-term traffic! It’s quiet magical if you think about it.

Guest posting is of its own logic to use. It displays the exact content that you are capable of providing to a new mass that you’ve never encountered – for free. Advertising costs money and isn’t nearly as efficient. It’s logical to just guest post for FREE advertising.

    1. Hey there Joe,

Its all about getting traffic man. Guest posting and blog commenting to build backlinks and to also increase our PR in search engines is the best way to do it. Tons of free, even viral, targeted traffic. We just have to put out the extra effort to do it and then in the near future we can sit back and make the money from the traffic.

      Thanks for the comment.

  22. Commenting does work. I started to get traffic before the website was even indexed by major search engines simply by making relevant and useful comments on similar sites. Interesting thing is that many of the fellow bloggers feel like reciprocating as well so it gives instant recognition to your website.

    1. Great example of your experience. This goes to show that blog commenting does work. Thanks for the comment and I hope that you get traffic to your site by leaving this comment 🙂

  23. Commenting for targeted traffic is a very popular way that blogs use. It is important though that the comments should be related to the article and have some quality or else the admin won’t accept it. It is in vain then and useless 🙂

        1. Yes this blog is really great and I thank Ileane for creating this wonderful blog and to also allow me to write to her blog readers.

          Thanks again for your comment.

  24. What is the difference when you leave comments to high pr blogs and no pr blogs? I am just curious??

  25. Hot topic you delivered here, Kharim.

I believe it is. Guest posting and commenting are the best for blog promotion (free of charge). You can introduce yourself as online person to another online community.

  26. Guest posting is one of the best strategies these days to produce good traffic to your website but i am not much sure about blog commenting as it is mostly counted as spam but i prefer doing blog comments on good blogs where their is complete discussion going on which increases your visibility

    1. Yes that’s what I am talking about. Commenting on blog to build up relationships and conversation which generates traffic. Guest posting for me has worked well and I strongly recommend it for every blogger.

  27. Certainly guest posting and blog commenting helps to increasing your blog traffic but I think you should not doing only the posting or commenting on different blogs related to your niche but you should be in contact or interacting people who read your comment or post and have asked you any question. You should answer them asap & that’s how you build your recognition.

I am also doing it in the same way. Thanks for sharing this knowledge full post.

    1. You are right man. Replying to comments early makes the commentator realize that you are a fast responder and also knows you value their comment.

      Thanks for the comment man.

  28. I think guest posting and blog commenting are best ways to increase your website or blog traffic but only the posting or commenting on different blogs which are related will help to boost your blog or website popularity. Also, You get new visitors and can target new area for your website or blog.

  29. Hi Kharim,
I am fully agree with your all points. Really Blog Commenting and Guest posting means all in on package. Its really help us to get more exposer as well as vistior with quality backlink.
    Thanks for this post.

  30. Very insightful post Kharim, yes agree targeted traffic is of course something we all work for, I know everyone has their preferences and for me the combination of blog commenting with guest posting works great. One particular blog though that I don’t guest post on I get quite a bit of targeted traffic from and that’s purely through blog commenting. Great work keep it up.

  31. I think no one should try to focus on bringing traffic from blog commenting or guest posting. The post post one writes can hardly bring up to 100 visits in a single day and commenting will only bring 2-3 visits. So there is no use of focusing on targeted traffic. I suggest everyone to get organic traffic.

    1. hmmmmm….. I think if you guest post on the right blog then it can bring you over the 100 visitors. I have guest posted already and in that day my blog traffic was doubled.

Organic traffic is good which we can also work towards, but when we guest post and blog comment then it helps to build backlinks which will further help to bring organic traffic.

  32. The phrase ‘niche’ is important here, given that back links from blogs which are not linked to your current sites rarely matter to search engines. The specialized niche identifies the quality of your back links for engines like Google. That is how you acquire targeted traffic in your website.

    1. Niche does play an important part when it comes to building up backlinks. Google has been changing but I think related niches is the best way to go for link building.

      Thanks for the comment Syed.

  33. I agree with Syed Akram, “niche” is important backlinks becomes more fruitful when commented blog “niche” meet to your ‘link-target’ contents. Blog commenting is a best tool to get backlinks if its used wisely 🙂
    Thanks for sharing.

  34. I think the way of exposure is targeting a lot of traffic. And blog commenting is one way of exposure your brand and yourself.
Another excellent post again Kharim, thanks for sharing.

  35. I agree that most guest bloggers forget to reply to comments. It makes me feel like my voice is being heard when I get a reply back. Great points and I love the article.

    1. I always encourage bloggers to reply to their comments if their aim is to build relationships’ traffic and to make money as well.

      Thanks for the comment Adrianna.

  36. Hello there don’t get me wrong but I think that nowadays Google doesn’t recognized back links that came from blog comments, because Google keeps on changing their algorithm. but guest posting is still at work, many blogger do this to generate traffic.another is profile linking but not that accurate because this can be considered as Black hat SEO.

    1. Well I still think blog commenting is important in building links. I have been blog commenting even though Google is changing and I am still getting traffic from Google.

      Thanks for the comment.

  37. Let’s be realistic, everything is working when it is done properly. Of course part of online marketing strategy and link building works better than other, but this doesn’t mean that shouldn’t be done. Even link directory submission is still working well.

    1. Yes you are right Carl. If done properly and with great content then traffic will come your way. All we have to do is know how to approach it. Thanks for the comment.

  38. Looking at the Google’s update in current days blog commenting and guest posting are the best ways to reach targeted traffic. This is really a brilliant and confused question on SEO is currently going on. Thanks for posting it and for maintaining a wise discussion on it. This will remove some doubts from SEO professional’s mind.

    1. The SEO game has changed and nobody really knows how to play it anymore. This is the reason why I try to stick with blog commenting and guest posting.

      Thanks for the point Kathrine.

  39. Blog Commenting is an excellent way to build quality links to your site. … With this in mind, it only makes sense to attempt to get targeted traffic while practicing … traffic every month for a long time, and all just for a couple minutes of work. … big one) even if these pages have a PR of 0, they are still likely worth commenting on.

    1. Yes thats true. I don’t care about the page rank, once I get traffic from my comments and guest posts then I am quite fine.

      Thanks for the comment.

  40. Kharim,
Get post AND love the comments and your response. This added much to the original post. I got contacted by a guest poster about a year ago. What he wrote was so good, I asked if he wanted to rewrite my entire home page. Since it was a PR3 blog, he was thrilled with the opportunity, as was I. He also asked to write for my other blogs. Haven’t heard from him in a while, guess he burned out or got all he needed.

  41. It’s interesting that there are 77 blog comments on the post about blog commenting. So poetic. I find comments to be incredibly valuable, if used properly. Too many people are manufacturing generic comments that say “great post! thanks!”, and then they move on. Let’s take some time to genuinely make a well thought out comment on each other’s blogs! It can help our own causes, and lead to helpful discussions. Everyone wins.

    1. Hey Scott,

Now this comment that I am writing to you makes number 100 on this post. Blog commenting is one of the best features on a blog. It goest to show that the blog visitors and readers love the content and also the blog, and they show their appreciation by commenting.

Commenting also helps to boost the commentators blog or website but getting traffic or building backlinks for traffic. Commenting also helps to build relationships between you and the commentator or the article author.

      Thanks for the comment.

  42. I agree with replying to comments even if you are not the author, every guest blogger who publishes posts on my blog NEVER come back to reply to their comments so I step in. 🙂

    1. That’s great Dean. I think this brings down our blog when guest bloggers post an article without coming back to reply. What I will often do is remove their links from the post so as to punish them for not reply to their comments.

      Thanks for the comment.

    1. The same goes for me, blog commenting and guest posting. I love these two methods because they are so effective in bringing traffic to my blog.

      Thanks for your comment Andreas.

  44. Thanks for the comment Anton, I try my best to provide content that people will read and want to comment, insert my links in the post and reply to comments. This is one of the best ways I think to get link juice from other blogs.

Thanks for the comment bro 🙂

  45. Kharim, yeah those two are really effective. Bloggers really don’t have much time in talking with other creatures such as humans (not as if they’re of a different kind 🙂 ). All their talking and communicating with other people all goes down to blog commenting. This is where every relationship and loyalty starts so it is only important that you don’t overlook it.

    1. Yep. It has worked for me and this is why I am blogging about it.

I have made so many friends and got lots of traffic to my blog through blog commenting. Backlinks and much more. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  46. Submitting quality content (guest posting) and relating all the comments to the links is a crucial factor. I believe it is important to comment correctly in order to increase traffic.

  47. I also have a blog and to generate I also did blog commenting and forum postings to topic related blogs and forums on the internet. I do blog commenting for my blog once in a month in niche blog. and it helps to generate targeted traffic but for the short period of time its not a long lasting to get long lasting consistent traffic there is such a various seo techniques like one way link building is more effective although it is costly but it is long lasting.

  48. As they say – Slow and steady wins the race! Guest posting and blog commenting is something which will help you build relationships with bloggers, hence getting ‘valuable’ traffic! Gr8 post!

  49. It’s been really long that I left guest blogging but one thing that I have personally tried and has worked well for me is the fact that we need to keep the interactions going. Bloggers love interactions and what could be better than having a writer with whom the readers really connect.

    1. Yes that is right. Regular interactions with other bloggers or your blog visitors is a must. This will help to boost traffic and also your sales.

      Thanks for the kind comment.

  50. Great Observation. Its really very important to reply to comments and continue the conversion in order to gain everyone’s attention. Also I really like the point you made here of generating targeted traffic by guest posting.

    1. Yep replying to comments and guest blogging is the best way to go. I’m not going to stop doing those 2, even after I quite my job from make money blogging 🙂

      Thanks for your comment

  51. Good thought starters. In my experience, guest posting often gets a quick burst of target traffic, but then it quickly fades. Blog commenting doesn’t do much at all. At the end of the day, quality content keeps the best audience coming back.

    Cheers,
    Steve

  52. I can testify that blog commenting still works because I used it solely to promote a $97 product that paid instant commissions and got 4 sales from a week and half worth of comments..

I left the affiliate link (of course I used a friendly looking link that redirected) to the product in the website field and on those sites which had CommentLuv enabled I also left a post that specifically dealt with that product 💡

  53. I can say that guest posting does provide very targeted traffic, but you need to recognize that it is not going to be the number one resource for your website. I think a lot of people need to take a look at for a marketing as well, because there are a lot of great opportunities there. But, you’re going to need niche forum, otherwise you are wasting your time.

    1. Guest posting does provide targeted traffic and that traffic can leave our blog, but you have to be skilled in getting that traffic to come back to your blog. Get them to sign up to your rss or newsletter on their first visit.

  54. Hi Kharim,

My blog is relatively new, less than a year old. I have not done a guest post yet so I can’t comment on that method of generating traffic. However, I am in 2 commenting tribes, and I comment on blogs that I really like. I have to say that most of my traffic comes from comments that I’ve left on other blogs. So commenting definitely works.

    Thanks for sharing. 🙂

    1. The power of a comment..

Is a force to be reckoned with.

People underestimate how targeted a comment can be.

But yes, comments are life lines to other people that might like your website.

    2. Yep. I have been having success with blog comment as well. I have also read articles from other bloggers making comments everyday and getting over 300 unique visitors per day.

  55. Both commenting and guest blogging especially still work as tools to build your web site traffic.

Blog commenting has diminished a bit as Google Penguin devalued blog comments. However, guest posting is bigger than ever and, in fact, was the true intention of Google’s algorithm in the first place–real sites vouching for other quality content.

  56. Hey Kharim!

First time here. Anyway, quick question for you. Who and how did you approach other sites to guest post? Any tips?

I’m really just getting pumped to the idea of guest posting. I’ve had my blog for a little less than 3 years, and now feel more comfortable writing. I like the idea of getting some exposure beyond what I’ve developed.

    Thanks!

    1. Hey Tom,

What I did was to write great articles for my blog. Went to blogs that I would guest post on, make blog comments there so as to let the blog owner know that I am also a blogger and then made a request to guest post.

You should do guest posting. It is really fun.

      Thanks for the comment.

  57. Absolutely, Guest post and blog commenting is the best strategy for links building. If you want to get the backlinks to your website from the PR #3, you have to spend $30 dollar at least but the guest post is the great way to get those for free.
