From Screencast to Podcast

A good way to show someone how-to complete a given task is with the help of a video. I find that screencasting is a very effective way to make a video for free that can be used for computer software training and other online tasks.  In these three short episodes I'll show you how you can create a free video online and quickly turn it into a podcast for distribution to a wider, mostly untapped, audience.

1. Screencasting 101 – Learn how easy it is to create a free video screencast using Screentoaster

Screentoaster is no longer available.

Screencast-o-matic is a great alternative and I use the premium version. It's $15 USD

2. Screencasting 101 Lesson 2 – If you are wondering how to create a podcast from your video, watch as I demonstrate using Blip.tv to go from screencast to podcast and how your podcast can be syndicated in the iTunes library for download.

3. Screencasting 101 Lesson 3 – Shows how to use TubeMogul enables you to distribute your podcast to multiple video service outlets at once.

Now that you have created your podcast, you can show it off to the world. You can Promote Your Blog With a Podcast or find other creative methods to make money online from your podcast. You might find some inspiration in this article from Mashable 9 Successful Techniques for Making Money From Podcasting.

Give it a try. Can you think of other ways you can make use of a podcast?

    1. Hey Jenny. I took a look and you’re right, I found the dofollow code just as you said. I’m glad about that. Yes, we can hook up. I will email you very soon. Thanks for visiting.

  2. What do you like about ScreenToaster VS Screenr?

About Wordle: The one I made for my wife’s B’day made a big splash but now I am thinking about attempting a new application for it, an interesting one and I’m sure not the first one to think of it but what do you think of using wordle as a list builder?

Want to collaborate on a post about it? We could call it Wordle As Social Media. Check out my little list building idea in the post at my golf blog http://www.lowcarbgolfer.com/golf-legends/a-worldwide-golf-wordle/ and tell me what you think of this idea?

I still have to work out the technical parts so any ideas from you are always appreciated. As usual I will use your name as inspiration for this post with a link if you want me to go it alone.

    1. Hey Dick,

I have to tell you that I’m also checking out Screencast-o-matic for creating my screencasts. I’ll let you know my favorite out of the 3 very soon. I’ll visit your blog asap to find out more about your plans for Wordle.

      Thank you.

  3. Great Videos, really cool and interesting, I just wondering what about podcast. Thanks.
BTW why the Gravatar here look the same???

  4. Hey, Ileane, I finally got a chance to watch this fascinating and useful resource. I have been meaning to do Photoshop, WordPress, HTML/CSS tutorials like this for ages and just haven’t got round to it. I will do it soon. You have inspired me!

  5. So happy that you pointed me in the direction of this article Ileane, I wouldn’t mind giving this a shot with my “Day in the Life of Extreme John” series.

I already have Tube Mogul all though I really haven’t seen anything since using it, keep in mind I have only done like two videos.

    1. Hi John,
I think the most important thing is to set up your account with blip.tv now because they will give you a feed that works perfectly with iTunes. Then just upload your video to blip.tv and your podcast will be updated automatically. It will be good for business! Thanks for visiting here.

  6. Absolutely fantastic!

I haven’t created a video in quite some time. I learned how to edit video in school but mostly kept it to small items like music videos and class projects.

Since then my current job has let me expand upon this as we make tutorial videos for customers. Lately I’ve been thinking of setting up a small studio so I can begin to record video.

Video really gives another dimension to your blog. Not everyone wants to read a long blog post but they will watch a video.

    Thanks for sharing.

    1. Murlu, you have great timing. This is a wonderful time to get back into video because of the introduction of HTML5 and many other exciting things that are happening on the web. Best wishes to your success! Let me know if you need help with anything.

  7. Hey Ileane

This was very helpful to me, I have been thinking about getting into podcasting. Perhaps we could connect through another means to help each other out.

  9. Great videos Ileane. I don’t remember the last time I posted a video, but thanks to you for reminding me. Screencasting has been on my plans’ list and I will soon try it.
