Five Things You Can Do To Double Your Blog Traffic

5 Things You Can Do To Double Your Blog Traffic

There are a good number of blogging tips blogs online today, but only a handful of them get noticed or generate a significant amount of blog traffic and readership. Not every blog goes on to become another “Basic Blog Tips” or “ProBlogger”.

Even though many bloggers find they can earn a fair amount of money, for most of us we can't make as much as the big A-list bloggers. 5 Tips To Double Your Blog TrafficMoreover to create a big authority blog, you need to do a lot of hard work. When I say a lot of work, I mean writing quality content, driving a great deal of blog traffic, building high quality links and making connections with other bloggers in your niche.

The most important task among these – is generating and endless stream of quality, targeted traffic to your blog.

In this post I am going to share 5 simple strategies that you can use to double your blog traffic in 2013.

5 Tips To Double Your Blog Traffic

1. Google+ Communities

As most of you already know about the newest Google+ feature – Communities. By posting informative articles to the communities, you can double your website traffic.

If you really want to get a lot of brand and traffic exposure, you need to post your content inside the appropriate Google+ Community. And don’t just share links from your own site, but also comment on and share other people’s content.

By engaging in the right Google+ community, you would be able to make the connections with other members and thus get traffic to your blog.

Here is a screenshot of my stats from Google Analytics. You can see that I got a nice spike in my blog traffic rankings when I finally started using the Google+ communities+.

google+ blog traffic increase
Screenshot of traffic spike from Google+

Head over to Google+ and enter your keywords in the search box, then refine your search by clicking “Communities”. Check out a few of the top results until you find the ones that are active and engaging. I think it’s worth a try.

2. Link Outreach

Link outreach is hard, you send 100+ emails and end up getting just a few links.

No not always the case, last month I sent an email to 10 blogging friends who are well-known in my niche for sharing successful blogging tips, and almost everyone replied. I even ended up getting two guest posts – SEO for WordPress – What Every Blogger Should Know and 5 Powerful WordPress Plugins to Help Prevent Content Theft from Matthew Barby and Adam Connell, respectively.

Few things to consider:

  • Write more long form content. You need to have quality content (at least 800+ words) before you even do link outreach.
  • Engage with those on social media sites. Before sending an email pitch, you should connect with those people before hand.

3. Focus on Quality over Quantity

Ever since I started focusing on writing quality content, my traffic has been doubled. Though, those types of blog posts take a lot of time but the benefits are endless. Over time I have learned that this is one of the best tips for good blogging.

Be it a guest post or content on your site, focus on Quality. In the past few years, the search algorithm has been improved a lot. Now, if a competitor has tens of thousands of links and you merely have a few hundred, you can still outrank them if your quality is better. When your content is valuable, you begin to earn the trust of your readers and the search engines. The readers will come back for more and the search engines will continue to send you more blog traffic.

If your site growth is organic and has original content, than it’s just a matter of time before you start getting 1000+ visitors every day.

4. Triberr

Wouldn't you love if you get 100+ retweets as soon as you hit the publish button? Yes, there's a site that lets you get more retweets simply by joining or forming a tribe in your niche.

This is one of those sites which you could use to increase the social signals & get more traffic.

These days, search engines are using social signals to measure the site quality & authority. By joining sites like Triberr, you could easily boost your rankings. Here is a video from Ms. Ileane introducing you to the power of Triberr:

How to Reach Millions of People on Twitter with Triberr

If you’re already using Triberr, than you should definitely try out Social Buzz Club.

5. Use Social Blogging communities to get blog traffic

By social blogging sites, I mean the niche bookmarking sites. This is the easiest way to increase your blog traffic. It takes few minutes everyday, all you have to do is submit your content and engage with the community.

This is where you need to have a presence –

  • Inbound: The most engaging community for Inbound Marketers
  • Blokube: Established and invite only community for bloggers and internet marketers
  • BlogEngage: The most active community!

Know of any more social bookmarking or community site which I didn't included? Please let us know in the comments below.

These sites can bring very targeted & quality traffic to your blog. If you have a great post shared and it makes it to a home page, you will have your blog flooded with traffic.

    1. Yes because Google also loves quality over quantity.

@Davesh: i really like the way of your writing, you’ve explained things very smoothly and newbie friendly.

      1. Thanks Devesh for sharing your expertise! And I completely agree with Sarah. Google definitely loves good, unique content . Also, it is the people who are you actual customers or visitors who can earn you revenue through your article via catchy content.

  1. Irfan Siddiqui

Yeah social sites is the best way to increase traffic. Though G+ communities is something new for me; I haven’t heard about it before.

  2. Hey Devesh,
Good to see you here and thanks for the exciting content.

Like you mentioned, there are a bunch of tips on blogging out there but finding something really worthy is something else. It’s quite a pity that most bloggers go around saying the same things without adding a special touch.

BTW, while JustRetweet is very user-friendly and easy to understand, Triberr is yet to simplify the process. I have had some success too on Viral Content Buzz.

Thanks for pointing out these resources

    1. Hey Enstine,

Your welcome and thanks so much for the comment. I think Triberr interface is simple enough to use, I’ve been using it for 12+ months & never had any issues.

They recently even implemented a new design, which looks much better and clean.

      -Dev

  3. Hi Devesh,
To get traffic interworking plays major role than quality or quality of content.

Without which you can`t expect anyone reading content or sharing it.

I heard about Triberr many times before. Ended up by just signing up.
I think am losing major social traffic by not being active in it. Actually am little but confused about it`s interface. Can you help me in understanding it. And am sure it`s not tough but taking an advice before acting can be helspful.

    ~@Khajamoin1

    1. It seems a lot of people are getting confused with Triberr interface. While it may be hard for first time users, but once you get used to it – it’s super easy.

All you have to do is just is to join a few tribes and add your blog feed in the content settings. That’s it. Than you just have to tweet the stuff through the triberr homepage.

      Thanks for stopping by, Khaja.

  4. I discovered Google + communities a really awesome thing. We have just started using it and have seen a slight boost in our rankings. We have been focused mainly on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube as it seems many people have been on those “channels” more.
As anyone will tell you keeping all the sites maintain is a daily task that sometimes gets overlooked .

    1. Hello Serdar Kara….
Ya Google communities are awesome..As Devesh said above ,these communities can bring you a large traffic. You surely gonna try Google communities….

  5. Hi Devesh,

Nice post about the Traffic. My favourites are, BizSugar, Google+ communities, Blokube, Inbound, Tagza and BlogEngage!

I’m getting good amount of traffic from above sites. But again you said very well, if you have something unique and useful in your post and you shared on those sites you’ll get double traffic.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Glad you liked the post and it’s good to know that you’re getting traffic from those sites.

      Thanks for the comment, Bashir.

  6. I tried with Tribber some time ago and it must be because I did join a good tribe, I was quite unable to see much effect. Everybody is busy creating their own tribe and thus this illness was not different to me either. I guess, I need to be more serious about tribes and look for a good active tribe again.

Thanks for this awesome reminder 🙂

    1. If you’re not using triberr, you are missing some serious traffic. I hope this time you won’t give up ;).

  7. My past experience showed me that engaging with the right people and communities can bring great results. If you are about to create a new social network account, you need to have a plan, know your audience and then start promoting your content or products to the right people. It’s useless to have an account, some followers and just update your status. Thanks for sharing your tips. They were very helpful.

    John

    1. Well said, John. Having a social plan and engaging with the right people can have a great impact on your business.

      Thanks for the nice comment.

  8. Never heard about tribber. Also didn’t gave much attention to google + and now I understand its importance and potential. Thanks for the good read!

  9. All the 5 tips are excellent to increase your traffic. I have tried link outreach & its really hard to get good good response until you have good experience. Triberr is new thing for me & thanks for sharing this.

  10. To double traffic of your blog post, try to target 2 keywords in your single title by using Long Tail Keywords on your blog, I always use this technique to get huge traffic on my blog. Thanks.

  11. Hi Devesh,

After joining communities like JustRetweet, Bizsugar and Blogengage not just my traffic doubled but I also started getting new followers and fans.

I never joined any Google+ community but now after read this post I think I should go and join some communities too.

    1. Glad to hear that, most of the niche communities drive targeted and quality traffic.

      Google+ communities are worth a shot.. :)!

  12. the tip on getting more than 100 retweets is ammazing; I also found ammzing results after interacting with community members of my niche at Google+ being a new social media platform most of its members in each community are quite active because they are exploring the more benefits of its usage. thanks for sharing such nice info dude

  13. Content is king. First we need to create high quality and attractive content for our audience. If we can create quality content. We can get organic visitors. Then we can use above steps for increasing website visitors. Properly agree with all method above shown. Thanks for your valuable content Devesh Sharma.

  14. I guess Google+ communities is similar to writing a Post on your own site, or guest Posting. a good idea to increase your traffic. I have Google+ but spend my time on Facebook instead. But this is obviously a better way, or sounds it to increase traffic

  15. It is just great to have lots of informative and effective tips in your post. I have tried several methods to increase my blog traffic. But I must recommend to write unique and low competition niche keyword article to publish on blog. If you do so, You will definitely find your blog on the first page in google. More over Social media is the best way to have thousands of visitor at a time on your blog.
    Thanks.

  16. Lots of great tips here. I agree with them all, one of the things I want to do more of is interviewing famous bloggers and creating different kinds of content out of my content. You really need a blogging strategy to fit everything in, but it is so worth while.

    Beth 🙂

  17. hey Devesh.
A nice post to share here at BBT and Thanks a lot for indepth tips on goggle+ as I was really lacking in that aspect and thanks also for triberr. I would try that out too.
    Regards.

  18. However I heard that Big G is having some issues with Triberr….even though Triberr tried to play along with the rules that Google has set, it appears the former still doesn’t like what Triberr is doing. I wonder if the retweets that we get from Triberr will be sort of “blacklisted” by Google?

  19. Hello Ileane and Devesh,
From what i know and see, link outreach is really hard to obtain unless you have some connections ( fellow bloggers, friends, journalists, etc) or some extraordinary subjects that can be passed over.

Regarding the retweeting website, i had no idea that you can get free retweets automatically.

  20. I never knew about link outreach.I signed up for tribberr but I completely confused me ..But I maybe I will try one of those communities

  21. Thank you for sharing some excellent tips. I have never heard of Triber or tried Google+ communities, will give both a try. I think the focus on quality content has to be the most important, without it getting traffic is meaningless.

  22. I come here daily for great tips and this was another good day. I get a lot of google alerts but I’m not sure if my posts are going out to my followers so I will check that this evening. The other point you make about 800 word posts I have a question about. I read that the reader has a short attention span so I should make posts shorter . Do you think shorter posts get more readers?

    1. I have heard the same thing about the reader’s attention span. My problem is that I tend to write long blogs and they require so much research and time. Now I think I am getting writers block, it isn’t always easy coming up with new material. I think I will pare back my blog posts to something more like 800 words – maybe readers will be more likely to read them.

  23. Devesh,

Great points you shared here and as some of the previous comments stated, quality over quantity is the only way to go!

Writing content just for the sake of having something to post will not only burn you out but also turn readers away! What’s the point?

One last thing here and the ‘trick’ to make it all work is maintaining a certain balance insofar as the attention and time spent in each of these areas!

    Great post and useful info!

    Thanks for sharing!!

    TJ

  24. Quality of content is all that matters! And just add a bit of proper SEO to your Quality content and your High traffic blog is ready ;0

  25. Farrell John Conejos

    Hey Devish,

First of all, thank you for posting this very informative and useful blog. The list you made was great and the bonus video is an additional treat. I tried almost everything in your except for the Google+. I will surely try Google+ after this and see if it works for me and my blog site. Thanks again and keep the informative post coming.

  26. gajendran megajolla

amazing tips, it is very important info, it is very helpful for poor bloggers.
    keep sharing.

  27. great post and very helpful and useful information all tips and points mention above are very helpful for getting traffic ,thanks for all these

  28. Thanks for these great tips – especially for reminding me that I need to make better use of Google+ communities – very helpful advice. Thank you!

    Sue

  29. First of all, thanks you for posting this very informative and useful blog. The list you made was great and the bonus video is an additional treat. I tried almost everything in your except for the Googel+

  30. I reckon this is a great post. Joining online communities are good but that won’t just bring in the traffic when you are active on them.
So tell me, how can one be active on fb, twitter, pinterest. Triberr, G+ etc at the same time whiles there is only 24 hours in a day?
You can’t be at all places at the same time. It ought to be gradual.
Hey Shaluma, hope you agree with me?

  31. yes, also like commentors, i am focusing on get more trafic from G+ communities that will help me ranking my site and my author ranking better in 2013

  32. Thanks for sharing a wonderful post about increasing traffic.

For me, blogging communities work well and my favorite ones are Bizsugar, Tagza and I also use communities on Google+ to get traffic.

  33. Hey Devesh, great post dude. Yes there are many tips that could help bloggers to bring traffic to they sites, but these tips are really good and you have explained them excellently.

  34. Devesh this post is contains really good information relating to double your traffic to your website. And also the video by Illeane is excellent, I will definitely try to follow this tips.

  35. Hi Devesh, these are great ways of double blog traffic and one of the new that’s new to me the Google+ communities. I don’t really use Google+ and that’s great information to know.

Link Outreach is one of the hardest in all of the above ways – bloggers are really busy answering your email. Sometimes they forget to check email is a problem.

So I can see that networking with blogs, comment on blogs, tweet other articles… is one of the most effective ways.

  36. I was thinking inviting more industry experts to come in and write on my blog would help, takes a lot of work to reach out on an individual basis but it could be worth it.

  37. Devesh,
very exciting topic you have shared bro. I was totally unknown about promoting blog posts in google + communities. But now I have to make it habitual. Thanks bro for such nice article.

  38. Nice post Davesh !
I am always looking for ways to increase traffic to my blog. I have not really tried using Google+ communities before as I usually stick to Facebook and Twitter but I am going to give it a try and see if it works.
I had never heard of Triberr before so I will definetely be giving that a try 🙂
    Thanks for the info

  39. Hello Devesh,
You bring some true points to light and i so loved it. ever since i joined triberr community i have seen changes to my social engagement. Nice post and thanks

  40. Good post Devesh,

    Excellent point on G+ communities.

It’s been working for me big time.

I just recently set up Triber so I look forward to doing something there to get my twitter momentum going. I’ve been stuck on like 800 is followers for a while.

What about link bait content? Have you found it to be beneficial for traffic?

  41. Great post for the bloggers to double the traffic!

Am a newbie blogger and am missing to do the last two specified ways to get traffic.

Great to know about these blogging communities and hope my presence will be there in the near future!

  42. I’ve not considered using Google+ Communities, but I’ll certainly give them a shot now, I do get several invitations to communities, but my problem has always been the issue of time and the lack of it.

  43. First of all content is the king. You must present the information that can easily catch the attention of readers. Also you must make use of the promotion techniques with social networking sites. Thank you for sharing……

  44. Some cracking tips there thanks Devesh.
I love the idea of triberr and the similar sites you mention. I had no idea that they even existed so i’ll be getting my butsy over there to check them out asap.

I can’t get my head around google+ although I keep going back to have another try. It’s hard to understand why people are not properly connected. If you think of FB you are both connected and when one “unfriends” the relationship is over. Mind you twitter isn’t a two way thing either is it? ( that is unless you use who unfollowed me and unfollow them back just because you can 🙂 )
I always find that there are many who think they are so important that they follow you to get you to follow back and then unfollow you just so they have high numbers of followers boosting their ego.

Anyway.. off my soap box now….

  45. Working on the quality has always helped so many people , as now Search Engine algorithm is smart nobody can’t use Black Hat SEO as now he will be penalized .

  46. G+ Communities are great for driving traffic….Facebook communities are getting crowded each passing day and this is helping G+ to innovate and expand…Tribber is great for social signals and for instantly promoting articles.Enjoyed reading this post..Cheers

  47. Good tips on how to double your traffic. I am already using blockube and blogengage and has helped a lot. I am not sure about Triberr, I have an account but was not able to do anything. perhaps I need to take another look.

  48. I haven’t tried Triberr but I signed up to Viral Content Buzz through the link above. So far I’m liking it. thanks for that!
Definitely agree about Blog Engage, truly an engaging social blogging community.
Visited Ileane’s podcast about Google+, lots of great resources too.

  49. I think the most important advice here is quality over quantity. There are so many interesting blogs I’ve read, and came back to every morning before I head out for the day. But then they became spammy, generic, advertisement-ridden, and that was the end of it. I also remember a couple mind-blowing blog posts I read, and when I looked for more I realized that the blogger had stopped blogging after only a couple of weeks. I reccomend you don’t do that either!! You never know when people will start reading your stuff

  50. I’m getting good amount of traffic from mentioned sites. But again you said very well, if you have something unique and useful in your post and you shared on those sites you’ll get double traffic.

For me, blogging communities work well and my favorite ones are Tagza and I also use communities on Google+ to get some traffic.

And also the video by Illeane is cool, I will definitely try to follow this tips. Things are not easy nowdays.

  51. The more we look natural, real to search engine is the key of success for getting good amount of organic traffic ..so be real and always choose quality over quantity …/thanks for the details

  52. Thanks so much for this information. Like most new bloggers, I’ve been struggling to get anyone looking at my blog. I was aware that Google+ communities existed, but never knew they could be useful! I’m off to check it all out now.

  53. I always have such a hard time utilizing these blog tips for my music site. Since we naturally do quantity over quality with our site design and we can’t really guest post, it’s hard to find tips.

  54. usualy when i search a tip to increase my traffic iget same identical reults like guest blog, commenting. social media etc .. Here i like the triberr(really different) and great

  55. Thanks for these tips! I’ve been struggling to get more traffic to my site and I’ll definitely try blog engage. My current method for traffic is clickthrough images from tumblr.
Gives me around ~30 visits a day. Very little I know..

  56. jean Lawrance

These shared tips are very important to boost blog traffic. The most important tips you shared are “Link Outreach” and “Triberr”. Before read your post i was unaware about “triberr” now i will use this social media site to boost my ranking and traffic both.

  57. Devesh,

You know these are some awesome ways to gain traffic for your blog.

I have recently started using Google+ communities.

I have to say the results that you showed us through this article is the same for me. 🙂

  58. Hey Devesh Very nice post about how to drive traffic to a blog.Loved reading the points you have mentioned and will surely try triberr and jusretweet.Keep up the good work

  59. Good to read the post. Earlier I used Blogengage and Justretweet, but I didn’t hear about Blokube and Viralcontentbuzz earlier. Now gonna try them out. Thanks for sharing buddy.

  60. This is Very True That Googe+ Comunities is the best feature introduced in G+…I’m Already Geting Good Trrafic Through G+ Communities. 😀
Quality Content is The first thing you should do..Because if you dont have good quality content no one will bother to browse your site/Blog.
Havn’t Tried This Triberr Thin Before…will try it today 🙂

  61. Wow… great tips! Some of them I am using and others don’t but there are really good stuff here.
Triberr is awesome but before get good results you have to convince people that your content is good and you are good at blogging! Once you do this you will have good results. Google communities are kind of tricky but I believe it can bring good results.

    Nice sharing…

  62. My blog is 4 months old. I created my blog through blogger and every time I create a new post or article, I always share on Google Plus. Google Plus has helped me get traffic into my blog.

  63. Hey Loved the article

Im having trouble getting any traffic at all to my sites, i have tried all social networking and guest blogging but nothing seams to work anymore for me

  64. Hi Devesh… some good tips here. I’m definitely not making the most of Google+ and authorship yet… on my list of to do’s for this month actually!

  65. I am so glad to read this blog article with the information on Google+ and using the communities. I just started using Google+ and actually found it a little more difficult to understand than when I set up facebook. I had not used the communities in Google+, but now that I know their importance I will look at the communities and use them.

  66. Thanks for sharing such important tips, I had actually the problem with my fresh content is always stolen and even google will rank them above me! thant for mentioning the anti-theft wordpress plugins.

  67. hello devesh
i am doing most of these things and i guesss that is the reason i am getting good traffic but there are some things i havent tried yet. will be trying them soon

  68. Quality Content is basic need to double traffic because it will create backup for the site linking , but how you explain about google+ communities amaizng i will take benifits from it

  69. Thanks for the very practical tips. I’m definitely going to start experimenting with them. I’ve been avoiding Google+ as there are only so many social networks I can devote my time to but more and more I’m realizing that it’s unavoidable.

  70. Like they always say (Content is King)
I am a blogger that created a lot of blogs just for fun and i didn’t notice any traffic because i was just scraping content from other blogs ( I am ashamed of it) , but now i am writing my mind down my blog content and gratefully have a decent Traffic and Community followers.
    Nice info.

  71. Great Post I think content quality and good innovation is base part to every Blog stand successfully and attract to reader to create impulse to again go back you blog so the traffic automatic move your site.
    THANK YOU to sharing me

  72. Hey! Nice Post ..

I already use a plugin called ‘all in one seo pack’ which includes meta titles, description, and tags for each post. Will social media automatically take from these tags, or will I get better results from installing this new plugin you recommend?

  73. Definitely Google plus communities and triberr are some awesome ways to boost traffic. There are also some secret social sharing communities with power social users. be trustful and join those communities for mutual sharing.

  74. All the 5 points you mentioned above are truly effective way to get some public, but according to me the point 3 [Focus on Quality over Quantity] is main thing which every blogger should follow on.

  75. Devesh,

Thanks for the tips! Gonna have to give Triberr a try, this is the first that I have heard of it and it sound very interesting.

    Thanks again!

  76. Hi Devesh Sharma, my name is Lutfi from Indonesia.
I Want to increase my blog traffic but I don’t know much about SEO tecnique. Social Media is the great place to get the visitors but it is not a natural traffic

  80. Hello there!
Thanks for the great advice. I am looking to start blogging (mainly as a hobby for the moment, then jumping into the “for profit” later) and have a friend who uses blogspot.com. When I went there, it changed the address and asked immediately if I wanted to start with Google+ or use a limited access (I think that was the term) blog name. Is this what you are talking about when you mention Google+ Communities? If I use this option, will it automatically link me into the Google+Communities? As you can probably tell, I am very new to blogging and any advice you can give would be a great help!

    Thanks,
    Amanda

  81. Community building is the best possible way to increase traffic and the best thing about this is that it continues to keep growing. Guest posting is another great way to get some high quality traffic directed to your website. Also it helps us to develop relationship with other bloggers.

  82. Always an exciting content divesh… I see you are 18 right now but the content you provide is really amazing.. Great Work ..

As in the post… Social Media Marketing normally my favorite website on the top is Twitter… And Facebook marketing .. Google Communities are still new and marketing for them cannot be easy.. All you need is Quality ..

  83. Community building is the best possible way to increase traffic and the best thing about this is that it continues to keep growing. Guest posting is another great way to get some high quality traffic directed to your website. Also it helps us to develop relationship with other bloggers. Thanks for sharing this post.

  84. Google+ communities are some of the best ways to double your traffic and I am glad that I have landed on this page to know more about it. We can also increase our traffic by including a call to action and by organizing contest. This helps us to get noticed quickly and increase our exposure.

    1. Yeah, contest is great way to drive extra traffic to your blog. It even helps to get quality links to your site.

Thanks for the nice comment, Lancia.

  85. after the updates of panda and penguin offsite seo is really to tough to handle,,Seems social media is the best way to get back the traffic which got lost by panda and penguin

  86. Is Google+ really a good method? I have a Google+ account but I have severely neglected it over the past year or so and have been thinking about returning to it but I have not had much success with Facebook and Twitter and am worried I might be wasting my time with Google+.

    1. If you aren’t using Google+, than you’re missing a lot of traffic. Google+ is slowing becoming a part of the search engine plus it has been proved that the more +1’s you get, the more traffic you will get. I’d say you should use Google+ more often.

      Thanks for stopping by, Dean.

  87. Hi Devesh,

I like your article. I think these are the basic tips of blogging. I always remind these thing in our mind. And Google + and twitter also good way.

    Thanks for share with me!!

  88. thanks for pointing out Triberr
i know if social media will be the next big thing

but i don’t know if there are things like Triberr
    who can retweet your post
