April Announcements on Basic Blog Tips

From blogging contest to the Royal KissThere's plenty of exciting news through out the blogosphere in the month of April including all sorts of announcements of one blogging contest after another where bloggers get the chance to win loads of cash, to intense blow-by-blow coverage of the Royal Wedding and the long awaited, very highly anticipated Royal Kiss.

More about that kiss later, let's talk about the blogging contest stuff first.

Traffic Generation Blogging Contest

As you know, Hesham from FamousBloggers has transformed the entire concept of guest blogging contests and what we all can expect from them (big ca$h prizes to be more specific). This year I decided to put my money where my mouth is and support the Traffic Generation contest at the level of Ideal Contest Sponsor (I was a judge in the previous blogging contest). Besides writing a fantastic post, all of the contestants get a chance to earn points for the number of Retweets or Facebook shares and likes. As a sponsor of the contest, I gained substantial benefit from having links to my blog posted on all of the contestants blogs. Quite a few of the contestants earned extra credits by writing reviews of the sponsors blogs and I was delighted that a few of them reviewed Basic Blog Tips! I'm very grateful to everyone who wrote a review, but I can't list them all because I don't want you guys to overdose on me (not just yet anyway), so here are a few you can check out.

Blog Engage Blogging Contest

Brian from Blog Engage is by far one of my favorite people. Seriously.

I can't think of any one person who has accomplished as much in the blogosphere over the past couple of years since we met. Brian is definitely into all aspects of blogging contests and he proved that with his award winning post (no he didn't actually win yet but I'll bet he does) in the Traffic Generation Blogging Contest. He has also proved over and over again to be someone who gives back to the community. This time he's doing it big time by awarding everyone who supported his blogging contest entry How to Drive Consistent But Free Traffic To Your Blog to be sponsors of the Blog Engage 500 USD Guest Blogging Contest #2 of 4. Now who can top that?!? (don't even try to think of someone OK.)

WeBlogBetter Blogging Contest

Kiesha from WeBlogBetter is someone I need to mention more often here on Basic Blog Tips. She is a dynamite blogger and writer and I'm proud to be considered as her friend. When she mentioned her upcoming blogging contest (the WeBlogBetter Contest starts on May 1st) initially I considered entering. After mulling over the idea for a couple of days, once again decided to be a blogging contest sponsor instead of a contestant. The competition will be at such a high level and quite frankly, I'm looking forward to see one of you guys enter and win the cash instead.Kiesha from We Blog Better

Kiesha and I shared second place in the Personal Finance Blogging Contest and looking back, I loved the way we supported each other as if we weren't even competing for the $1,000 dollar prize – it was more like being on the same team. 🙂 If you ever need help getting started with content for your blog, get in touch with Kiesha and you'll be fine.

Facebook Ad Blogging Contest Giveaway

Onibalusi from YoungPrePro gave away 20 $50 Facebook Ad Coupons in a contest he had over on his blog and guess what – I won! So there I was with a $50 Facebook ad coupon and no Facebook Fan Page 🙂 If you know me well at all, you've probably figured out already that I gave the coupon to my daughter Nikki and with the help of some Facbook advertising tips, we put together the first ad campaign for her Estava Morioka Facebook Fan Page. For those of you that are looking for some stylish party dresses for yourself or as a nice gift for that special lady in your life, head over to her site and pick something up. Her prices are reasonable and just to get your interest, I'll share her latest video with you so you can see a few items she has in the boutique available for purchase now.

More on the Royal Nuptials

Ok, I admit it. I'm a sucker for a good love story and the Royal Wedding seems like it will have a fairy tale ending. I watched the entire event, heck I was even live tweeting the whole time and I had a ball. Here's one of my favorite Tweets I sent just for fun:

Royal Tweets

Did you get a chance to watch the Royal Wedding? Were you wondering the same thing I was?

Btw – if you get a chance, stop over to the CommentLuv blog and read my latest guest post called You Do NOT Need SEO to Blog – Told You!

One last thing if you plan on entering Brian's or Kiesha's blogging contest, it's ok to leave a link to your post in your comment.

  1. I heard that Jay-Z and Beyonce were also supposed to be attending the wedding. But that might have just been a rumor…

  2. It seemed that the Royal Wedding TV coverage was never going to end, mind you, it may not end, they are still banging on about it this morning on the news!!!

But moaning aside, I do which them both the best of luck.

There are so many blogging contests going on at the moment, it’s almost like a digital epidemic 😆

    1. Hey Slappy Bear! I’m sure they’ll get started on a family right away and the coverage will start all over again!! Looks like Harry’s up next so let’s hope he doesn’t keep us waiting so long for a darn kiss 🙂

  3. Wow, so many contest yet I do not follow any of them since I very busy to build my new blogs. Hope the best contents will win. 😀

  4. hey ilean. Great announcements. Love the blog contests this year. a lot of great ones going on in the market place. I have been working hard to put together one for the BE contest. Brian Rocks, and been playing too much with the cool new chat features 🙂

    1. James, I’m looking forward to reading your submission to the Blog Engage Blogging contest. The chat feature is popping up on a lot of sites now. Blokube and Blog Interact have chat rooms too 🙂

  5. I’m thinking about a contest very soon and following these contests should help me out with the details.

  6. This is really great Ileane and I’m so glad you’re one of the winners of my Facebook coupon contest. I’m even happier that you won when I read about how it is used.

  7. Hi Ileane, thanks for the kind words. I enjoy being online and meeting so many new people. Giving back with the contest was such an amazing idea on my part even I was impressed. When I first thought of it I was really excited you can even ask my wife lol…

    1. Hey Brian, no doubt your wife probably knows more about blogging that some of us bloggers 🙂 Tell her I said thanks for her support, I know she’s that “great woman” that inspires you.

    1. Gaurav, the best way for me to keep up with blogs is on Twitter. Do you a Twitter account? Let me know so I can follow you. Thanks for visiting and I’ll try to visit more often.

  10. Hi Ileane
Looks like April was a busy month for you. I guess the Royal wedding was one of the biggest events of this month. I don’t know how big it was in the US but in Europe it went crazy. Let’s see what will happen in May.

    1. Thomas, we American got caught up in the Royal Wedding Madness too I’m afraid. It was on every network when I got up and turned on the TV. I figured it was probably the best thing that happens to the UK in a while so I might as well watch. May looks promising too! Thanks for the comment.

  11. Brankica, I love the orange one too. Nikki always did look good in that color.
The Royal Wedding Guest List – I’d love to know the criteria that was used to determine the guest lists. I’m sure many other Royal families were invited but I’m not familiar with the princes from your country. Can you imagine trying to pick out a wedding gift for those two? LOL!!

  12. Nipon, are you planning to enter the WeBlogBetter contest this time? I’m not sure if you are a member of Blog Engage yet, let me know if you need an invite.

  13. kira permunian

Yeah, the Royal Wedding, I’ve seen the coverage everywhere. So popular. Hey, ’twas my first time to see a Royal Wedding, a Royal Kiss and A Royal Family. They’re Great People!

The Traffic Generation Blogging Contest in which I was been part taking the chances for my entry about combining SEO and SMO for traffic generation. It was an amazing and a full of learning blogging journey of mine. Big thanks to the organizers and sponsors.

Here’s another Best, I also joined the Blog Engage Blogging Contest. Super thanks to Brian for letting me in. I have featured there in my entry the past Google SEO changes. C’mon chack it out at blogengage.com .

Oh hnm I was also along with Ileane and Keisha in the Personal Finance Blogging Contest. Wow all the pleasure is now really mine having a chance to be with these brilliant bloggers.

To sum up, I was been with Ileane since I stuumbled upon blogengage.com. I am really learning from her tips and writing style. Thank you so much Ileane. Thanks for the inspiration.

    1. Kira, don’t be so shy 🙂
You kicked butt in that personal finance contest and won the top prize $1,000!! LOL!!

Also, you can add links to any contest post you want. I added a link already to your Blog Engage contest post, but feel free to come back and link to any other contest post you wish!

Thanks for your support Kira! Have a great week ahead.

      1. Whoa! Thank you so much Ms. Ileane from the bottom of my heart.
You know, the personal finance contest has changed my life as I’ve able to buy my own notebook now and I can be online for blogging anytime now. Such a great help really. I am so grateful to God for that gift.

        Thank you once again!

  14. Hi Ileane!
Thanks for sharing the WBB contest info!! Yes, you are the most awesome!! I appreciate your continued support – I don’t know how I’d make it without you 🙂

Hey, by the way, would you like to help judge this contest when it’s all over?

    1. There’s something about you that always makes me say – Yes! 🙂
I’d love to judge the contest. Thanks for offering Kiesha.

  15. Hey Ileane,

I was following your tweets on the Royal Wedding. I was at work and Youtube is not allowed there. So you really gave me a live picture of what was going on.

And, it was just then I was thinking about the Princess’s hair issues and you were tweeting about that 🙂

    Cheers,
    Jane.

    1. Jane LOL!! I guess you could tell I was having a grand ole time watching the wedding. Especially in the beginning when everyone was showing off their outfits and they looked gorgeous – except for the hair that was sticking up all over the place 🙂 (Not the Bride and Groom’s hair though – thank goodness). I’m glad I could give you an idea of what was going on. Thanks for letting me know.

  16. Hi Ileane,

Nice updates! So many blogging contests recently. LOL. I’ve just joined the BlogEngage contest, I might also join the WeBlogBetter contest too. 🙂

It was nice to see the Royal Kiss, but I think it was a little too short. LOL. 😛

    Cheers!
    Gloson

    1. Hi Gloson, Please come back and leave links to your Blog Engage contest post. Otherwise I may never find it!! Thanks for stopping by and good luck with your entry.

  17. All the contests are VERY exciting. Especially with the BIG cash prizes. I encourage everyone to participate, even if it’s only to hone your skills.

    1. Hi Ivan, yesterday the winners of the Traffic Generation contest were announced and Brankica, Ariff and Brian were the top winners. I think the Blog Engage contest winner will be announced soon too. Stay tuned.

        1. Hey Brian, thanks for sharing that link to the winners of the first Blog Engage contest!

Congratulations on your Traffic Generation 3rd place prize!! I knew you’d be a winner. Keep up the good work Brian!

  18. Ya its true that there are a lot of contents in the market and the royal wedding is one of them that we bloggers can take advantage from in writing our new posts, but the real thing starts from the fact that the content of your blog should be more interesting and different from others then only you will find traffic for your site and when every one in the market is dealing with the same content then it’s likely not to happen.

    1. Angela, I end up being unique without even trying. I mean do you know anyone else who put the Royal Wedding in the same Tweet as Lil Wayne? If so, please introduce me so I can follow them. 🙂 LOL!!

      Thanks for your input.

  19. Wow, now that’s a lot of contests happening. Was happy to hear that Brankica won The Traffic Generation contest so thanks for your participation. I ‘m sure everyone appreciated it.

I haven’t dove into Blog Engage yet although I did sign up. Took me several weeks just to figure out how to submit my post. Dah!!! Now, finding the time to have fun over there, that’s the next step.

I have so much on my plate this month there is no way I can participate in any contests. Got a few guest posts lined up so will be busy with that now.

Oh, and I didn’t watch the wedding. Can you believe that! Happy for them though, really I am. Just not a big TV person anymore and spend the majority of my time working. But, I have a blast doing that.

Thanks Ileane for your updates. Lots of good stuff to share for sure.

    Adrienne

    1. Adrienne, you should enter one of the contests. I’m sure you’ll do well and I know you would put that prize money to good use!
If you get the RSS Service from Blog Engage in no time you’ll see how your blog can grow by being exposed to so many new readers. Let me know if you have any questions about it. Thanks for visiting!

    1. Hey Mike, tell us what you thought of the gown – and what about the #RoyalKiss? I give it a 7 🙂

  20. Never considered entering a blogging contest or holding my own blogger contest. This entry really provided some insights.

    1. Hey Kim, welcome to Basic Blog Tips!

Blogging contests are all the rage now a days. You have to try it some day.

  21. Michael, you got that right. Imagine how many people they had helping them orchestrate that wedding! I still think the Prince saw the Royal Wedding Gown beforehand – he DOES have spies you know 🙂 LOL!!

  22. Hi Ileane. Hohoho… That’s a really great announcement! In fact, I know of guest posting, I never got to know that the prize of guest posting is so attractive 🙂 This goal change some part of my 2011 goal… Looking forward to reading more posts from ya.

thank you keep up great work

    1. Hi, I really appreciate you for saying that. However, it would be nice if you use your real name so I can feel like I’m connecting with a human. On the other hand, you score points for spelling my name correctly 🙂

  25. Now this royal pair is on honeymoon trip. Interesting to see the presence of this pair on your blog.Found your blog an informative and unique in blog sphere.

  26. I agree with you. Hesham and Brian are changing the game when it comes to contests. I really like how they introduced sponsor reviews and year long contests.
