The 4 Ingredients Affiliate Marketers Need To Cook Up Solid Sales

Affiliate marketers are always on the lookout for new products to promote that will provide them with some solid sales success. The Recipe for Affiliate Marketing SuccessChoosing the right product to sell is a very important factor when it comes to actually earning money from sales, however there are other ingredients that separate the successful affiliate marketers from the rest. It is not just hard work and dedication that will clock up the true solid sales in affiliate marketing.

There are certain tactics to sell affiliate products that have worked for years in both the off-line and online world. Nowadays most affiliate marketers like to use the best of both worlds, however marketing online and earning affiliate commissions has clearly started to dominate. Therefore in this article, I will share four of my favorite ingredients to help affiliate marketers land those solid sales.

#1. Give Your Product A Home

I am a great believer in building a solid business where you can promote your affiliate products. Some affiliate marketers think that they can save money on Web hosting and make affiliate sales without even having a website. I definitely agree that you can do this, however I believe that in the end, you are left with nothing. If you were building a website, while building your income, in the end you will have a virtual property which will be worth money.

When building websites to sell affiliate products, it is important that you only promote related products. For example, you can make an entire website about one product, or you can make your website about many things, but your product relates to your information. The best sales come to affiliate marketers who always have related content and related products.

Another advantage to building a website, is that your content will stay there as long as you are paying for the hosting. If you do not own your own website and are posting content on others websites, your affiliate links can disappear any time. I personally have articles on my websites that were written four years ago. They still make money today.

#2. Give Away Reports

Most affiliate marketers are fully aware of this ingredient, but neglect to use it. Often Webmasters give away a free report in exchange for visitors to sign up to their list. This is not the only great thing about a free report.

I like to give away free reports that have fantastic information in them and of course, they include some affiliate links. There is no pushy sales method here, just absolutely fantastic information. This is information that people would usually pay for. After receiving and reading content like this, people often are more than happy to buy through your affiliate links as you have provided so much free value to them.

Also people love to share great content and free reports are no exception!

The biggest crime that affiliate marketers commit, is that they do not get around to giving away their free report ASAP! They start their websites and build them up to be successful, but never get around to giving away a free report.

You are welcome to visit the link to my website in the authors section to download my free reports (located in the sidebar on my site) to investigate how they are set out.

#3. Targeted Traffic Only

Many affiliate marketers get loads of traffic to their websites and then whinge about the money they make in comparison. They are left wondering why their blog is not making money. There are so many factors that come into play, but one of them can definitely be that your traffic is not targeted for your topic. This means that the people visiting your website are not really interested in your information or your products.

When you do find your targeted traffic, providing new are selling the products that they want, you will definitely make more sales.

I like to do some guest posting an article marketing to find my targeted audience. Just think about it, if a person is willing to read to the end of the article and then click on your link, they must be interested in your topic.

Always remember that only 1 out of 100 people are likely to buy your product or get your services. If you can generate as much as 1,000 targeted hits for your website in a day, that means you can made 10 sales based on the average statistic.

 #4. Talk About It

How do you think you are going to make sales if you do not talk about the product that you want to sell? For example, I sell a product on my website and if this sales drop off, the reason will be that I have not mentioned the product recently. If I am serious about selling an affiliate product, I like to mention it in a blog post about once or twice a week. Definitely not every blog post I have right, as my content would turn into junk. You need to be tactful and distribute your affiliate links with elegance.

If you are one of those people that write one review on your website about a product and expect to sell it, good luck to you. Of course you can sell it with a lot of promotion, but why not have more pages with many more possible sales. If you find a product that sells easily, talk about it more – you can even send an announcement to your newsletter subscribers. [Need a newsletter? Start here!]

So next time you want to cook up some solid sales, take note of my for ingredients for affiliate marketers. It might require a little bit of hard work, but the rewards will snowball and the affiliate sales will come rolling in.

  1. By posting honestly in your reviews about products you build authority and respect in your blog. Once you have that you can easily ask the Product’s creator if they will provide the product to you free so that you can do an accurate assessment of the product and write an accurate review.

    1. Mitz hit it on the head that you have to build your own site and I agree it ought to be an honest review. It’s also very useful to do an in depth review with a comparison of alternatives. Often you can do this with a trial but if you’re promoting a product you believe in, nothing says more than being an actual customer of the product. I’d say, look at it as an investment 🙂

  2. Hi Amrik
Great points! It is a good idea to check out all the products you sell, therefore you can write a great review. 🙂

    1. Glad you liked my point. BTW I appreciate your effort for writing this useful content. Good Luck!

  3. Hi Mitz, Promoting affiliate products to your own website is really needed thing. What was your point of affiliate marketing program clickbank or Amazon?

    1. I actually sell most things the same way…Clickbank, Amazon, etc… I use these basic methods every day.

    2. Hi Ehsanas, I hope you don’t mind but I would like to be a part of this discussion. I haven’t tried affiliate marketing programs such as ClickBank or Amazon. But I am getting ready to dip my toe in affiliate marketing world. Since my blog is new and performing good as per my stats. Right now I am trying hard to build my strong email list so I can make use of it later.

  4. Nice article, Mitz!

I believe the most sales can be made if your traffic is really targeted. I am glad that you have mentioned that in your article.

Affiliate marketing has to be done right in order to succeed. Read this article, and sure, you will do better. 🙂

    1. Thanks Samual
These tips work for me…but sometimes people think they are too obvious to be important.. 🙂

  5. Statistics, that is one great tool that I have learned at College. Through careful collection and analysis of data, one can statistically prove the truth percentile of a theory or fact. This can be used to prove how satisfied your customers are, using factors such as dissected user reviews and others. Well, that is just one way of putting your reports in a better presentation.

    1. Yes I agree John..statistics are one of the keys to success in everything. You need to know how your efforts are working. 🙂

I really do not use my statistics enough!!

  6. The idea of Targeted Traffic is so important.

The Google Analytics number only has meaning if those views are people who have interest in what you’re writing and ultimately will take action on your products…

    Thanks,

    Ryan H.

    1. I usually check out the pages that are making the money and see how it is getting traffic… Most of the time there are some clear winners. If you promote for those keywords you will get more sales..

You can also use a bit of common sense when it comes to keywords… Repeat them to yourself and then ask…would people be buying from the keyword?

  7. Great tips to increase affiliate sales. As you have pointed out, we have to mention the product we try to promote, but not too many times, otherwise we might keep pur readers away.

    1. Yes if you have a blog it is good to weave a few products into your posts at least 2-3 times a week… You do not need to sell something in every post. 🙂

  8. Many people believe that getting thousands of visitors to your site will earn you lots of money but i believe that targeted traffic should be the main goal of any blogger. I have over 100 subscribers to my blog but i don’t know hoe to contact or email them.

    1. Go and sign up at mailchimp for a free account and add those contacts in there… Then you can send them all an email.. 🙂

  9. This is really great post! I like what you said about building a home for your product. I can vouch for this as well. Everyone knows that it takes time to build up a base of posts before Google starts to recognize them. So it’s important to continuously update and maintain your older posts. If people like your blog too, then they will like to go back and look through some of the older content as well.

    1. Yes building a home is my answer when people say “what do you do for a living?”
I say ‘I build houses, one brick at a time”. This is totally true because the home becomes virtual real estate. 🙂

  10. Targeting your audience is the most important part of any marketing, including online. If you understand your clients, where they come from and who they are, you can be successful at targeting your marketing towards other people with similar interests. So, it’s vital to do at least a little bit of research before you start working in this industry.

    1. You are right Paul…Many people miss out on targeting their audience and wonder why they are not getting sales.

  11. Interesting article about – Affiliate Marketing Cooking Tips.

I like the point about Targeted Traffic, out of the 4 points.

If a person is willing to read to the end of the article and then click on your link, they must be interested in your topic.

    1. Ha ha cooking tips…Thats it!!
Yes I always find better conversions from article referrers… 🙂

  12. Giveaway reports is a smart move I think. The idea of free value is great. I am on my way to finish my first product this year, thus making free reports contain of values will be great as a initial promotion, moreover if I can add affiliate links inside it.

    Thanks Mitz

    1. I used to make people sign up but then I just gave them away.. My sales just roll in… The content has to be just as good as the ones for sale though…As there is so much free stuff out there that is worthless..You need to be the best! 🙂

  13. Great tips! getting targeting traffic daily at the same proportion as you mention in your blog post and certainly if you did not talk about the product your are offering in your blog post than how people came to know what you are offering and what are benefits of that product.

    Thanks for sharing great tips!

    1. Yes some people think they only have to mention something once and then site back and wait for the sales…

  14. Hello there I think that this is really a great post that you have shared, giving enough review about your product is a good way to attract many interested costumers. this can be considered one point to gain clients trust.

  15. Nice points Mitz,

When you briefly give a review to any affiliate product on your own blog, it actually gives more confidence to your audience and they know much thoroughly about the product. Hence it increases the chances of making sales.

    1. Just good review isn’t enough to make good sales to an affiliate niche website. There are many other tips and tricks which should be followed.

    2. Bit too sure about a brief review but a well researched one will do the trick. Also I like to include some bad points to some products and compare them to others that might be better.

  16. Raaj Trambadia

That’s exactly how you become a great affiliate! Cheers Mitz! Just wanted to ask whether it’s okay to promote several products through one blog (but from different and unique posts)?

    1. Hi Raaj
Sure it is fine to promote many products…It just depends on how big your niche is..

For example on my site tips4pc.com I have a wide topic range to pick from..
Also on my website about building websites it is endless too…But then I have a site about web hosting so I am limited there…sure I could branch out but the products are less likely to sell..

  17. Very timely piece. I have found you must purchase the products yourself first to be sure they are good. I haven’t done much with links – wasn’t sure if Google was okay with affiliate links in copy. I just did an email with one a few hours ago. Curious how to send a FREE report if the item is say shoes? Unless it is about comfort for your feet and how to fit your shoes properly. You got me thinking 🙂 Thanks!

    1. Hi there Lisa
I don’t think google dislikes affiliate links but it does dislike spammy sites with crappy content. You have to have everything in moderation to please the human visitors and Google.

      Ideas for ebooks for shoes
Where and how to buy high quality shoes
10 tips to make your shoes last longer
Maintaining your high quality shoes to get the most wear for your money
Why not to get over your Shoe fettish

  18. Mitz,

This is such a timely blog post. I’ve just incorporated some affiliate programs at my website. I’m still grappling whether I will use landing pages for each affiliate product, or if I will dedicate just one site and incorporate all my affiliates. My thinking is that doing the latter, I will distract potential customers and risk looking spammy to the search engines. You have definitely given me something to think about.

    1. Yes I like to weave the products in naturally into my related content and not make great big landing pages for each product.

      🙂

  19. Affiliate marketing is a bit complicated for me, but there are a lot of people that are actually making a lot of money by it. I will keep reading posts like this to get a hang of it and try using it!

    1. I guess it is hard to grasp unless you are actually doing it.. I had no idea where to start or what to do but it all comes with experience.

  20. These are some excellent tips that you have given. Even I think that giving a free report is a good idea. By giving a free report in exchange of an email will help us to build our valuable list. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.

  21. I must agree, I try to get targeted visitors but some of my other blogs convert better than others. I’m pretty bad with split testing products and stuff as well. Your article helped me reflect on some things I can change about my “recipe” haha. Thanks

    1. Yes I am slack with split testing too but now I am using AP2 on one of my blogs, the split testing is built in. That makes me use it more.

  22. Giving away free reports, free software, and especially exclusive videos or webinars works great for pre framing them with not only what to expect from you but also seeing you as an authority. You need this in order to make the most from your email list that you’re building as they will tend to take your affiliate offer recommendations more seriously.

    1. I always give free reports to my list..I do not sell to them like everyone else does..

I am reformed and I am only doing things my way as I believe that people will hate emails soon as there is just too much junk coming in.

      1. I definitely understand what you’re saying. And my own particular “reformation” came in the form of realizing there are different types of lists I can manage some of which are fully education, some more promotional, while some being a bit of both..

It depends on the objectives of the marketer in relation to whom they target and what expectations they set to those they target.

        btw,
That was a very interesting post you wrote on why you don’t display income earnings..

  23. Great tips Mitz. these strategies are the main need of time and very inn in todays online market. I recommend these strategies to use for quality sales however i also often use Amazon and other selling points to sell my products for fast.

    1. Hi Reeha
I am using Amazon too now and targeted visitors for that really make the sales go through the roof. I guess it doesn’t matter what you are selling? 🙂

  24. Hello Mitz, all four tips valuable for online income. You have home for your product, you can work on your way and give turn to affiliate marketing.

    1. Thanks Azam
Yes I like to have a home to make money in.. that way I am building a business that solid.

  25. Great ideal post. I recently started a new business and these tips really helps me in near future. thanks for your great efforts.

  26. I think among these strategies mostly give away and reports could grab more attention from new visitors. As well as force them to visit that same blog again and again.
