CommentLuv Ambassador Contest on Basic Blog Tips

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Andy Bailey from CommentLuv announced that he's working on a new version of the One of the things I enjoy most about migrating from a free WordPress.com blog over to a self-hosted WordPress blog, is the vast amount of plugins that I now have access to. By far, my favorite WordPress plugin is CommentLuv. I've written a few tutorials about using CommentLuv and some trouble-shooting posts too. And now I've been dubbed an official CommentLuv Ambassador. Since CommentLuv is famous for running blogging contests I decided that it's time to have a contest also (please note that the contest is over and the winners are listed at the end of the post). Introducing the CommentLuv Ambassador Contest on Basic Blog Tips!
Andy Bailey, the developer responsible for CommentLuv, and G.A.S.P – GrowMap Anti-Spambot Plugin (quickly becoming my second favorite), continues to develop amazingly useful plugins, that are available free of charge, to the blogging community. Andy works hard to constantly add new features to the site that benefit everyone in the CommentLuv community.

I'd like to share some of these newest features with you including:Join CommentLuv (aff link)

  • Instant backlinks from PR 4 – PR 6 pages at the ComLuv site
  • CommentLuv Badges for your sidebar
  • Guest posting opportunities on the ComLuv site
  • Updated format for the ComLuv Newsletter

The CommentLuv community is growing and at this point it's over 30,000 strong. In this video, I'll introduce you to what Andy calls the “Featured Site Spot” and the new CommentLuv badges (courtesy of Byteful Travel). You'll see where, and how to get your hands on them.

  1. You are amazing Ileane! I don’t know where you find the time for all your projects and all the support you give to us all. I love commentluv and for me it has really boosted the number of visitors to my site where I can introduce my visitors to the lovely lavender. Because I visit blogs outside my own small niche, commentluv has given me greater scope for letting the community know about my blog’s existence, allows me to meet so many nice people who support and encourage me with my blogging journey and generally get the word out about my posts. Then there’s Andy. Andy is so generous with his time, his expertise and his continued improvement of all things commentluv. Being part of the commentluv community can only be a win-win situation so I can’t think of any reason why those who haven’t joined don’t go right away and add this valuable plugin to their site.

    1. Patricia, that sure was a prize worthy comment! You’re the final winner in the contest. Please come back and let me know how you plan to use your credits. Thanks for commenting! You’re amazing too.

  2. I agree with Patricia…You ARE amazing, Ileane! If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been able to install the CommentLuv Plugin on my blog. Not only are you a CommentLuv Ambassador, you are actually a BLOGGING AMBASSADOR, what with all your efforts to help out everyone in the blogosphere. More power and Godspeed, Ileane!

  3. I just migrated to self host and I’m having some problem with comluv. I installed the plugin and can’t figure out how to link it to the comluv account..

    1. Hi retirebyforty, Thanks for visiting Basic Blog Tips and thanks for your question. In order to take advantage of a basic CommentLuv account on any CommentLuv enabled blog (including your own) you must use the same email address that you have on your CommentLuv account. I also recommend using the same email address for Gravatar and I see you do have a nice one. The tip is that you can add emails to your Gravatar account but your CommentLuv email must be unique.
I hope that answers your question and if not let me know so that we can dig deeper into your CommentLuv account to see what’s causing the problem. Hope all goes well!

  4. Wow that is really cool contest concept Ileane. CommentLuv is also my favorite plugin as I went from having nonexistent comments to… many. I especially like the fact just by inserting your url it shows the most recent posts on that site and you can change it up. I am not surprise you are their Ambassador.

    1. Hi Karen, you’re situation is a classic example of the benefits of CommentLuv. You have great content and you write some marvelous poetry. I’m sure many people read it and thought it was well written but once they see that CommentLuv is available, they take the extra two minutes or so to let you know they enjoyed your writing and appreciate you. Here’s to many more comments on your blog in the future!

      1. Thanks you Ileane for the great compliment!! I am going to give mine away to readers maybe in a contest not sure yet but either way I am going to spread the CommentLuv just as you have.

        1. Karen congratulations on winning. Just a word of caution. CommentLuv credit can only be purchased or gifted in increments of 5, therefore you can only give away 2 gifts. If I were you, I would get one of those featured member spots on the ComLuv.com home page or member page. But it’s up to you! Thanks for joining in the fun!

  5. Ileane, thank goodness for your energy. You may have helped me to figure out how to promote BloggerLuv.com as well as CommentLuv. It’s no secret that I wrote Blogmogrifier to help folks with CommentLuv-enabled sites to maximize their exposure.

I think the mistake I was making was promoting it ONLY within BloggerLuv.com instead of to folk in the larger blogosphere. By using your contest as a springboard, I think I finally have it figured out: Invite bloggers to actually join BloggerLuv and CommentLuv network and then MAXIMIZE these new connections by automating their blog-hopping activities.

Winning this contest would be motivation to promote these communities even more. But, not to worry. I’ve already won because you’ve given me a new direction to pursue 🙂 (Don’t let that stop you from selecting me for one of the categories, LOL)

Thanks for hosting this contest and sharing that video on YouTube.

    Cheers,

    Mitch

    1. Hi Mitch, you are the first contest winner because you really “surprised me” by coming up with an innovative way to promote CommentLuv. I’ve seen Blogmogrifier in action with BloggerLuv and I’m sure it will benefit CommentLuv users as well. Now please come back and let me know your plans for using the 10 CommentLuv credits.

      1. Hi Ileane,

Wow! You sure got some lightning fast responses.
Congratulations to all of the winners; I am honored to be among your number.

I am going to duplicate what you did and offer some credits in a contest. Tek3D has given me another idea…

        Cheers,

        Mitch

    2. Thanks, Tek3D! Click “Make Web Page” in the Blogmogrifier software to get new blogs. (Make sure you don’t have “BlogBlast=On”)

You just gave me an idea: I am going to open up Blogmogrifier to the general community! I’m going to figure out a way to simplify the pre-registration process. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

      Cheers,

      Mitch

  6. Great video Ileane! Thanks for this.

I wish you all the best for this great contest, just retweet it and share it to the world.

    Best,
    Kimi.

      1. Nice!

I followed you some days ago, but i forgot to notify you. Oh well, now we follow each others, awesome!

Thanks Ileane for following me in Twitter, and also add me on the contest.

        Have a great day too!

        1. Kimi, don’t forget, you can increase your chances of winning the CommentLuv Ambassador Contest by sharing the contest on other social networks or your blog, just remember to come back and let me know.

    1. Hi Tanmay, If you get a chance to watch the video, you will see that you make a brief guest appearance. 🙂 I have a question for you. Do you plan to install the CommentLuv plugin on your blog one day? I know that it’s not required for membership but I’m curious to know why you don’t have it installed and other’s might have the same question. Thanks for the visit and the comment.

  7. Good grief, 4 to go! Congrats, Mitch! 🙂

What can I say here, I’m a member with nothing to add … you’ve taken care of anything I would know. I will say this, however, when I am on sites that do not have the CommentLuv plugin – I always wonder what I could do to help them get on board. Hmmm, maybe I can come up with some kind of crusade to inform the many bloggers that don’t run in our circles. There are MANY and there’s enough of us to spread the word if we dare to step outside of our cliques.

    Thanks, B

    1. Hey Kissie great point. That is what being a CommentLuv Ambassador is really about. A good way to share the news about CommentLuv is to write a post about it. If you do end up writing a post, it would be great to see you mention this content then you could possibly earn CommentLuv credits from both me and Andy. You are so great a telling stories, perhaps you could blog about it that way. Also be on the look out for tweets from me with additional hints on ways to win! Have a great day my friend.

One last point, did you know that you can vote for CommentLuv in the WP Honors Awards?

      1. No Girl, I didn’t know … voting now and thanks for the blog post tip. 😉 It shall be my next one.

        Love ya!

One thing, and I know everyone has mentioned this … why do we have to click the confirm I’m not a spammer box EVERY TIME? Or should I be asking that somewhere else … actually I have to complete everything. I wonder if this information could somehow be retained, I mean I was JUST here … it’s still me. Yes, I love the idea that I can change my post … and at the rate I’m posting, that tool really comes in handy. 😉

        I’m just saying.

        1. Kissie, CommentLuv is so awesome that I just got gifted more credits to give away in the CommentLuv Ambassadors Contest. You were next in line with the awesome comments so you’ll get 10 credits in your account! Please let me know how you plan to use them or if you need help adding default links to your account.

          1. Whatchatulkinboutwillis?

PLEASE ANSWER THE PHONE! This is my third time calling!

Ooh wee, thank you for the credits. Does this mean I didn’t win … is this a courtesy/consolation prize? How do I plan to use them, let me count the ways? I want to spread the word (seriously) so I think I will incorporate them somehow into the virtual blog tour when I have all kinds of new visitors to the site. How’s that? Does that win me 10 more?

            ANSWER THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

          2. You are too funny. Just so no one else is worried about me, I’m glad we finally talked and you booked a featured site spot on the Comluv.com member page. Kissie on CommentLuv

          3. Look at that! We look nice together, we didn’t take a picture last month. Send me one so I can photoshop it.

Ooh, can we webcam together and skype a pic? Wouldn’t that be cool? Do you have Glass?

I don’t want to have to confirm I’m not a spammer every time I’m on this site!

          4. Thanks for the great information. Comment Luv has been a useful tool and I’m looking for the next releases. Andy Bailey claims he has something much better.

  8. Hi Ileane, a brilliant idea, I noticed you had Blazing Minds listed in the twitter list 😉 Just “Amplyfied” this post and shared it via some social networks 😉

    1. Karen, Thanks for submitting this post to Blog Engage! You also were one of the first to display the CommentLuv Badge on your blog and you have always been a CommentLuv Ambassador since I’ve known you. Congratulations. You are the third winner!

  9. Hi Ileane!

This contest is awesome, and it’s really neat how you’ve become an ambassador for ComLuv.

Good luck to all of the entrants!

    Tia

  10. Hi Ileane,

Excellent idea and CommentLuv is a great form to reward your readers 🙂

I’ve just stumbled, dugg, RTed, saved at delicious, shared at facebook, amplified sending it also to posterous, tumblr, friendfeed, google buzz, and plurk. Voted at Blogengage and shared at my facebook page!

The best of the luck for all and enjoy a great week! Keep up with your good work 🙂

    Cheers,

    Gera

    1. Gera, thank you so much for all of the support. All of the prizes have been awarded and I really do appreciate your votes and shares.

  11. Hey Ileane,

I love all your posts but I love even more the ones about ComLuv that explain the available techniques that we can use in order to improve our own blogs and our blogging community.

I’ll be honest, I visit ComLuv regularly but I usually get lost in there with all the stuff happening, your posts always clarify a lot about the things going on in there.

    Thanks Again. 🙂

    1. Sayed, I hope you are subscribing to comments on this post. If so, please retweet the post in this exact format (using the ht.ly short link) and you can qualify for some CommentLuv credits:

      1. Hi Ileane,

I subscribed to comments on this post and I just tweeted the post in the exact format you posted above.

Just to be sure I didn’t mess this up, I clicked tweet then copied and pasted (RT@BasicBlogTips I want to be a CommentLuv Ambassador on Basic Blog Tips http://ht.ly/2UQZh) in there then hit tweet.

I’m not sure what the “ht.ly” short link you mentioned does, but I hope I did it correctly.

Thanks so much for your Reply and Direct Message. Have a wonderful day. 🙂

        1. Hi Sayed,
Thanks for the Retweet. I was able to gift 5 CommentLuv credits to your account. Congratulations! Please let us know how you plan to use your credits!

          1. Hi Ileane,

Thank you so much for the credits, I’m thinking about a plan right now and I will let you guys know. 🙂

Again Thanks A lot, I Appreciate it. 🙂

  12. [Off-topic]

Ileane, this is one of the best reasons to subscribe to email notifications of comments. You and Kissie had me cracking up – and y’all DO look good on the cover of Comluv 🙂

Sayed made a valuable comment, too. You bring clarity to the confusion of many web applications. Thanks for all your {waves hands grandly} contributions!

    Cheers,

    Mitch

    1. Hi Mitch, thanks for subscribing to comments. Kissie is a riot and she’s funny even when she’s not trying to be. Actually her whole family is a fun bunch. 🙂 Thanks to for pointing out Sayed’s comment. I think he is due for a little CommentLuv surprise this morning. Please finish that project you are working on soon, so you can come out and play some more. LUV U!

      1. Hi Ileane, I figured I’d pop into the CommentLuv Playground for a minute. I can’t wait to finish this project – it reminds me of junior high school, when I was stuck in the house on a warm spring evening, doing a stupid book report instead of running around outside with my friends, who I could hear laughing and screaming and having fun!

I think it’s great what you’re doing with credits and all. You are a role model for the new Ambassadors. I have a slew of ideas once I have some free time.

        Cheers,

        Mitch

  13. Oh no! I missed out on an awesome contest! I will not miss the next one! Congrats on the ambassadorship! I must look into spending my ComLuv credits-great way to put them to use!

    1. Hi AIDY, if you follow the instructions on how to win the CommentLuv Ambassador’s Contest, there a possibility you can still win some credits…..

  14. I was excited to see the list of people that won. You couldn’t have a better group of winners! Each of them contributes to the blogging community in such a fantastic way.

    1. Hi Melinda, thanks for stopping by. Have you thought about getting a featured spot one day? I think it’s an awesome way to get exposure.

    1. Hi lee, welcome to Basic Blog Tips. I might run another contest one day. Have you ever considered getting a free account with CommentLuv?

  15. Congrats to all of the winners 🙂 This contest is amazing, Ileane. I feel so sorry for myself that I was late again 🙁 I hope you will have more contest like this in the future. I’ll definitely join into.

    1. Hi Mike, it’s a real pleasure to hold a contest like this and give away CommentLuv credits. I know that you are one of the faithful readers of this blog and I might have some credits left on my account to give away. If you retweet this post with the format stated in the directions, you might be a winner. Thanks for the visit and have a great day.

  16. I share your affinity for plugins as I am like a plugin addict!

And though many are scared of adding too many plugins because of site speed and possible complications with other already installed ones, I do not have these problems and I have 65 active plugins and counting ❗

    1. 65??? Oh, Caleb, you must share your secrets, LOL!!!

I just deactivated a slew of them, since they just “feel” like clutter.
      WP-SuperCache was a pain, too.

      Cheers,

      Mitch

      1. I actually use WP SuperCache and don’t have a problem. The other plugins on my list are just too useful for me to deact ❗

        What secret info you need??

        1. Well, for starters, which ones you find most useful. Since you manage to get WP-SuperCache to play nicely, that would be swell too 🙂

Actually, I was just amazed that you have fast load times with 65 plugins.

          Cheers,

          Mitch

          1. I think the fast load times are due to the way I set up my WP SuperCahe preferences as it does have many options. But I suppose that also has a bit to do with the type of theme as well..

In the VERY near future I will go ahead and post my full list of plugins along with my WP SuperCache settings so be on the lookout for it 😉

        2. Caleb, I think your blog is amazing and I love how you have tamed those plugins so that they all get along so well. I do have a question that I’ve been meaning to ask you. On your twitter widget I see William Rodgers – are you two one in the same? l just want to make sure I’m not seeing double 😉

          1. Yep we are one in the same 🙂

Caleb is preferred and actually my middle name as I noted on my About page. But I am also known as Weez short for wezee and in some circles Will!

  17. Congrats on becoming a CommentLuv Ambassador. Hate I missed the contest, but love your posts and comments around the web. I’d been wondering where to get some sexy images for CommentLuv … and you showed me the way! 🙂

Just followed you earlier today on Twitter, before I came across this post. Count me in next time you run a contest.

    1. Hey Vernessa, There is still a chance to win some credits in the CommentLuv Ambassadors Contest. If you retweet the post with the exact format stated in the rules (notice I did not cross that part out) and you just might be a winner!

It’s nice to meet you and please visit Basic Blog Tips again soon!

      1. Hi Ileane, Did the retweet this morning. Love the chance to “be a winner.” Who doesn’t like to win? 🙂 BTW, thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog and leave a comment. 🙂 Have a wonderful day.

        1. Vernessa, it’s actually a challenge I came up with to see who is really paying attention. You are only the second person to catch on to this since the contest was officially closed. I intentionally crossed out all of the criteria except for the RT so that a smart reader like yourself could get in on the CommentLuv action.

I now dub thee an official CommentLuv Ambassador, check your account and let let us know how you plan to spend your 5 credits?

          1. I got my credits! I got my credits! LOL Many thanks, Ileane. Let’s see now … A featured spot on the main page. One over on the UnBan page. (I’ve been banned a few times myself, so we know folk gotta visit there!) And, until I saw your smiling face on the Member page, I wasn’t even aware there was a featured slot there.

Looks like I’ll have to buy some more credits to go with the one’s I’ve won. 🙂 Thanks for making me an official CommentLuv Ambassador. Let’s see if I can carry out my duties forthwith!

          2. “Forthwith?” “Forthwith?!!!” Vernessa, you are automatically my new BFF. I love that word, especially how W.E.B. Griffin uses it in his “Badge of Honor” series of novels about the Philadelphia Police Department (where I worked for 17 years as a civvie.)

Congratulations on getting some CommentLuv credits from the Queen Ambassador herself.

@Ileane, I’m decompressing from a disappointing project closure, just blogging and coming out to play. I will begiin my ambassadorial duties a little later than forthwith – maybe a fortnight? LOL

            Cheers,

            Mitch

          3. LOL – You gave me a good chuckle! Yeah, I felt like I had been knighted, and I’m reading a mystery set in the ilk of the Sherlock Holmes era, so that bit of Old English just popped outta me. 🙂

And “fortnight” is certainly a throwback to days gone by! Badge of Honor sounds like something I’d like to read.

  18. I usually don’t participate in too many contests, but after having this post marinate in my mind the potential backlinks from ComLuv site finally persuaded me to do the retweet as I already had their badge..

..but that’s not to say I wouldn’t retweet you without there being a contest 🙂

    1. Will, you’re a winner! I need your CommentLuv name – I’ll never be able to figure out which one you’re using 😉

        1. Hey I just figured out a way to easily figure out anybody’s ComLuv name..

..just hover over the little heart symbol after their ComLuv post link and it shows 😉

  19. Pingback: ComLuv

      1. I guess you figured out how to win! That’s really awesome. Congratulations, you are the next winner in the CommentLuv Ambassador Contest. Please come back and let us know how you plan to use your credits.

  20. Ileane:

you are an amazing contributor to the blog community! I am so glad I found you. I am enjoying your blog very much. Hopefully I can get into the next contest!

  21. CommentLuv is far better than other plugins. Most of the blogger has installed the commentluv plugins as it gifts do follow links to the commentators and good traffic for the blog.

  22. Congrats Ileane! Comment-Luv is a great plugin which keep your blog spam free. I recommend all my blogger friend to use this.

  23. Comment Luv is a great plug-in that deliver do follow links but the attacks of spammers is increased on the site that is controlled by akismet

  24. Based on what I know of Google, those 4-6 PR links will be negated somehow once they get wind of it. Google has a million sneaky tricks up their sleeve and sometimes penalize for innocent mistakes. For this reason I stopped buying links many years ago since it rarely ever turned out well, especially if the sites were unrelated in their content. I had a link from a PR6 that didn’t have many other links. But for some reason, I could never get my homepage above a PR4 on that old site…

    1. Hi Head Coach, that’s interesting. I saw someone mention that point to Andy on twitter the other day. The question that comes to mind for me is, what’s that difference between a paid ad and a paid link? People sell ad space on their sidebar all of the time and it fact they don’t suffer an penalty so what’s the difference? Let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks.

  25. The CommentLuv plugin is great for not only building backlinks, but also for getting comments left on your blog. People tend to be more… active, so to say, when you’ve got that plugin enabled.

The downside, though, is that you receive insane amounts of spam. And that’s a thing I hate about plugins like that, rewarding ones readers.

    1. Ron, thanks for your positive feedback about CommentLuv. I want to let you know that you can combat spam on your blog with another plugin from Andy Bailey and Gail from @GrowMap called G.A.S.P. This plugin (the GrowMap Anti-Spambot Plugin) will reduce the spam on your blog to a bare minimum and save you valuable time when moderating comments. Here’s the link to download G.A.S.P.

    1. Hi Mgalmonicar. I welcome you to Basic Blog Tips and look forward to seeing you join the CommentLuv community too. Thanks!

  26. I am a huge fan of CommentLuv and GASP plugins and use them on all of my blogs. This is a pretty neat contest and I always try to win credits, I occasionally buy them too. CommentLuv is a great network for bloggers and the search is excellent to find other blogs in related categories you can network with.

Ileane, I noticed you have a plugin or something on your site, that when I tried to copy and paste your RT line it came up with an extra line that said “excerpt from basicblogtips…etc” is this a plugin? It makes it hard to copy and paste the RT line you offer without doing edits of it first.

    1. Hey Justin,

Thanks for going the extra mile to retweet the post! That’s the Easy Tynt plugin and I deactivated it for now.

I just sent you 10 credits!! I’m sure you can find some default links or additional URLs to add to your CommentLuv account. Thanks for the Amplify too. Have a great day!

  27. Commentluv is a great plugin .Its really helpful for the bloggers to create new links.I like your post keep it up and create such type of informative blogs thanks.

  28. I have been reading your blog posts and I can see that everything here has sense and I had followed some tips that you had given. This one though is perfect because I love commenttluv so much.

  29. Commentluv is a very good plugin. I have used it and because of this plugin the performance of my blog has improved a lot. Thanks for guiding other towards this wonderful plugin.

  30. I definitely thought long and hard about opening one of my photography bogs to dofollow comment.keywordluv enabled, and in the end chose to do so. I think fostering discussion is a bit more important than having to deal with the ocasional spam posts. We’ll see how it pans out. If it works out, I’m going to open up my other two photo blogs to comment/keywordluv and dofollow.

  31. Really Commentluv is a very good plugin. I am also using this plugin. This best plugin to attract visitor on the website. Thanks for sharing more information about the Commenluv.

  32. Sally Thompson

Thanks for the article! This will really help me know this stuff. 🙂

  33. i am so glad i saw this post, i did enjoy both the article and all the comments from you guys. i am getting information and details about commentluv that explain the techniques that we can use in order to improve our own blogs! bravo to all!

  34. i know i’m way too late for the contest…but i just would like to share that commentLuv has done so much for me! i love CL! 🙂

  35. Great videos! This commentluv ambassador contest sounds interesting and if it is noe already over I would probably join in. By the way commentluv is truly great and it is very beneficial. Thanks!

  36. Hi Ileane. I will be very honest with you – you are THE AMBASSADOR of blogging! Your blogs are really fantastic and this one too. The CommentLuv Ambassador contest sounds very interesting – I wish everyone all the very best.

  37. commentLuv is a wonder thing which can turn a least read blog to most read blog in small span of time. anyways congrats winners, cheers.

  38. I recently came across your site and have been scaning along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed scaning what you all have to say ! 🙂
