Basic Blog Tips For Us All

Blogging Research Wordle

I love acronyms. They make good short blog posts. They have the ability to drive home the point with great effect. Acronyms also have the ability to stick with you for a long time.

Do you still remember the order of the colours of the rainbow. I bet that little ditty is swimming around in your head right now. I would also have a guess that you learned that in school, probably primary school.

This being my first guest post here on Basic Blog Tips, I thought I would start out with an acronym. It's basic short to the point and goes well with the blog theme, niche and title.

DEFINITION – An acronym (pronounced AK-ruh-nihm, from Greek acro- in the sense of extreme or tip and onyma or name) is an abbreviation of several words in such a way that the abbreviation itself forms a pronounceable word. A word formed from the initial letters or groups of letters of words in a set phrase or series of words.

Brain – The best tool you have is your brain. Use it well.
Audience – Remember who you are writing for. Your audience is the most important aspect of your blog.
Simplicity – Don't try to be too complicated. Keep it simple. Less is often more.
Information – People want to be informed. They seek after knowledge. It is your duty to supply that.
Content – Content is King. Concentrate on delivering good quality fresh content.

Best – Always seek to be the best in your niche. Always seek to write your best. If not, don't write at all.
Love – Love what you do. Love what you write about. Love your audience.
Observant – Keep a look out as to the needs of your readers. Then fulfil their needs and your blog will flourish.
Give – Blogging is about giving. Giving knowledge, giving time, giving help. It is better to give than to receive.

Time – Blogging takes time. It takes time to build up a reputation. Time to build up a community
Innovation – Don't let your blog get like the rest of the average blog. Be inventive. Be different.
Professional – Always keep it real. Always be professional.
Schedule – Freshness is the life blood of every blog. Schedule fresh original blog post regularly.

Perhaps you can come up with some acronyms yourself. How about the word BLOG. What acronyms can you come up with that would define what blogging is all about?

  1. Good to see you here, Robert.
This community here at BBT continues to grow thanks to Ileane.

love the post man, as you’ve said short and to the point.
    Well done!

    1. I’m glad you mentioned that the comment was off topic or I would have never guessed 🙂
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts about the plugin I use in my comment section to share TwitterLinks and offering your alternative. However, I’m happy with the plugin and the way it displays the TwitterLinks. Andy Bailey, the developer best known for the CommentLuv plugin, also created this TwitterLink Comments plugin and if the blogging community needs any tweaks I’m sure he’ll make them if we ask. I see that you are member of the CommentLuv community which is why you’re welcome to post links in your comments here, but in the future just be careful not to offend the owner (me).

Btw – did you hear about the CommentLuv Ambassador Contest? It is still open and if you want to take advantage of it please follow the instructions you will find in the post about retweeting it.

  2. Awesome post Robert, I like the creativity. Hope you don’t mind me asking, but how long did this post take you to put together? Something like this would have taken me 6 months. Great break from the other reading I’ve done so far today.

    1. Thanks for the great comment John,
To be honest, I don’t want to sound all super aloof. But it was not that long.

Got the idea at about 1:30 am. Then actually wrote the post between 2:00am and 3:00am

      1. Robert, you did an awesome job and I really appreciate all the work you put into this. You’re like a blogging wizard being able to whip this up in the wee hours and still get other stuff done. This is the first time my blog appeared as an acronym and I think it’s pretty special 😉 I’m very grateful to you. Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. Very nice post, Robert.
I thought “I” stands for Ileane, the owner of this blog. This suggests me about creating a similar post for my site. 😀

  4. Sweet. Just like @extremejohn, I would also be interested in knowing how long it took you to put this together, lol.

Anyway and despite being acronyms, you really have put this well together and BASIC as you describe it above is really what makes all the difference. Thumbs up!

  5. Fantastic. I doubt if Ileane herself ever thought about the acronym of her domain name as you have magnificently revealed. And still, how true, each of those full forms. Appreciate man! Great work.

  6. Hi Robert – What a creative and thoughtful posting! It’s commendable that once you had the idea, you came up with such great meaning within a couple of hours.

    I really like these two:

‘O’ for Observant (Keep a look out as to the needs of your readers.)

‘I’ for Innovation (Don’t let your blog get like the rest of the average blog. Be inventive. Be different.)

It’s a really nice tribute to Ms. Ileane. 🙂

    1. Thanks,
When I was young at school and then in college the only way I could remember things was to create acronyms etc for things.

Ileane is a great Gal, she has done some good post for me as well.

      Good to be here.

  7. Hi Robert,
That’s quite an acronym, but you’ve definitely hit all the key points for basic blog tips. Thanks for the post.

  8. Now I just have to say that was very creative indeed; definitely Twitter sharing friendly, so you should feel honored. I especially feel strong about Time, because we all want to be successful “now”, but it does take time. Nice job!

  9. @Robert @Ileane – Inspired by both the acronym created for BasicBlogTips and the Wordle Robert used to make his excellent points, I’d like to present . . .

“The BasicBlogTips Acronym Tribute To Ms. Ileane Wordle” – Ta-da!

I like Wordles and I hope you both like this one.

    Go get it!

    1. Hey Vernessa! That was so cool! When I first saw it grinned for about 2 minutes, while I was staring at all of the words. You and Robert are both great for the ego 🙂 For the life of me I can’t figure out how to add that Wordle you created here in the comment section so that it will display correctly darn-it! Those Wordle folks are pretty smart.
      Thanks so much!!

      1. Hey Ileane – I’m so pleased you like it. I’ll grab a copy of it today and reduce it some. If the comments area will allow it, I’ll get the code for you. If not, maybe you can write an ancillary post and drop it in there with a link from this post. Have a wonderful day.

  10. Very clever post Robert. Loved it.
    Thanks for sharing.

  11. Simple, informative and straight forward post, yes you have to build an audience behind your blog before can be successful as a blogger.

    Thanks for the post

  12. Excellent and on point!

The first “S” is vital because with all of the rest and without that, I’d be the firSt on out of here!

The B A S I C used here is not just for blogging, nah, we need to apply that information in several places and areas of our lives. 🙂

Thanks for sharing with us. It’s cool I got to see some of your work too, that’s terrible you had to guest post to make that possible. Nonetheless, you’re here and so am I!

    1. Kissie,

Yeah it’s great to be here and meet you all. Ileane has done some great work for me. This was in response to another blog post I wrote.

Anyway, I have been kept busy visiting all you guys websites and blog. Trying to post comments on as many as I can.

But it’s good to meet new faces and see new content.

BTW, thanks for the kind words.

  13. Hi Robert,

I am still in doubt whether Content is a king.

How about those autoblogs which can rank higher than us in SERPs. They definitely do not have “good content”

Cheers, thanks for this awesome post!

    1. Content is still king. Remember, those sites have tons of content, even if they’re stealing it from others most of the time.

      1. Yes, autoblogs can be useful as helping us if we search for something.

But those who don’t put links back to the original content is kind of stealing.

To me, the good content goes to the original article, and not in copycat autoblogs.

        Just my opinion 😉

    2. OK I left a reply but did not click the reply button. What’s up with me. Anyway, you can read it further on in the comment thread, but basically I understand that these content auto blogs are irritating to day the least.
Google is trying hard to not rank them, but life goes on and we deal with it I guess.

  14. Really great article on becoming a better blogger Robert Bravery. I wonder how long it took you to come up with that acronym for blog tips that is really awesome. I think they were all great, but I really like G which is for giving and L which is for loving what you do. Because I think to be a successful blogger you should both love what you do and give even if you are not getting anything in return initially. Great post.

  15. Kimi, Yes I think those autoblogs suck. But remember that Good Content is still King. You are writing for your readers not for the search engines primaraly.

Second, I heard that Google is trying it’s hardest to identify original content and give the credit ranking where it’s due

Third, sometimes when your content is scraped, it’s not all that bad.

I wrote a post on that very subject. If Ileane allows, I can post the link for you to read.

BTW, thanks for the encouraging comment.

  18. Thats slightly out of the box post with super creative tips and offocurse Beautiful abbreviation , i will always remember and never forget 😛
Cheers ! and thanks for this awesome post .

  19. Awesome tips Robert. Actually Acronyms help a lot and I have been using acronyms to memorize a lot of things right from school days. This creative acronym that you made also has given me a lot of helpful things to remember

  20. Hey Robert,

Very clever post. Nice to have things in an acronym. And yes definitely easier to remember anything if you have a way to remember it. I think acronyms are great and the way you’ve created one for Ileane’s blog must really make her smile. Now she might even have to ask your permission if she wants to use it 😀

  21. Thanks for the tips you have pointed out. In blogging fresh, reliable, and substantial content is really important so that you can give ideas to readers they are not aware of before. Sharing what you have learned is a very nice fulfillment and giving everything you have learned is the greatest fulfillment.

  22. I’m amazed at how well you gave meaning to each letter. Thanks for sharing, really creative. This really defines what blogging is supposed to be.

  23. Content is the always the king, the better content you have the better your blog becomes.

  24. Nice Post!

I would also add the fact that building a community on social media (parallel to you blog) helps you build an audience faster.

    Keep up the good work!

    Steve

  25. Pamela Turner

Great posts are hard to do consistently on a day-to-day basis. Ideas and tips really helps me with this, Thanks for sharing,

  26. This site has such wonderful content and it never ends. I can always find something new that gets me excited and pumped up to go and try every time i visit.

  27. Acronyms are great 🙂 .
People should use Acronyms to remember stuff more often and use analogies to explain things.

I think simplicity can not be emphasised enough.
